The Louth /Armagh border is only 4 miles North of the town I grew up in. The IRA active service unit in this area were one of the most lethal in Northern Ireland. Sniper attacks, homemade mortars, roadside bombs and attacks on mainland Britain all originated from a small farming community called South Armagh. Maze Prison was seen by many as Europe’s most secure prison. It was a prison within a detention center within an army camp and believed to be completely impenetrable by any one prisoner. That was until September 1983, when the IRA successfully pulled off the largest prison escape in British and Irish History.
It is said " The conventional army loses if it does not win, but the guerrilla wins if he does not lose. The culmination exercise for Green Berets takes place in the fictional country of Pineland. The Green Beret students link up with a guerrilla force and wage an unconventional war against their common enemy. This exercise is called Robin Sage

Cody Carroll was an enlisted Marine, then a Marine Officer, who resigned his commission to join the Army. He got recommissioned in the Marine Corps and spent nine years as a platoon commander at Force Recon. He currently works as an instructor for Military Mountaineering, Jungle Tracking, and Marine Special Operations sniper.
