This weeks episode is a little different than the norm. It's just Dolly today and she's addressing something important. It's time the industry started talking about how often Sexual Harassment and Assault occurs in the Tattoo Industry and how imperative it is that things change to keep our clients safe. If any of your mental health triggers are tied to Sexual Assault please give this one a miss! It's hugely important to spread the word about this issue to please post about it all over your social media accounts and tell your mates! The more voices we have the more we will be heard.
This week I chat to my good friend (and fellow x-files enthusiast) Jessica Sharville. Although Jess is a successful illustrator in her own right she also manages a tattoo shop part time. She had some interesting perspectives on how people get through the tattoo process and how it's often useful to have someone like her around in the shop to keep clients calm and motivated through their sessions. We also touch on the importance of the kind of energy created in a shop and how that can impact a clients experience. You can check out Jess' amazing illustrative work on instagram @jessicasharvilleillustration and also the shop she works in @tattooworkshopbrighton.
On todays episode I had the joy of chatting to Alice Snape. Writer, author, editor and creative queen. We explored body ownership, self love and the importance of building a relationship with tattooists that you can trust. We also got into what is and isn't acceptable in the industry and how to handle situations that might feel out of your control. Please be advised there is some discussion regarding trauma and self harm in this episode.
