Vault Comics released the first issue of a new series called "Shadow Service" and the OG crew is here for it. Nick takes on the first issue of the highly anticipated Batman: Three Jokers and then later takes a trip down memory lane with Mega Man: Fully Charged. James goes on a trip of a different kind with the first issue of Grendel, Kentucky and he also visits the Marvel Universe with Fantastic Four: Anthesis. The Empyre has begun to rise over at Marvel and the OG Crew are totally on board. After not being interested in the new summer event before, Nick & James have both agreed that the start of Empyre crossover has actually made them both interested in what is coming out. On a storyline suggestion front, Nick talks DCeased: Dead Planet while James argues with himself over the new Snake Eyes. Indie Love has James gushing over Engineward while Nick takes a Descent Into Dread. This horror anthology is put out by Four Colour Media, which consists of local talents Dalton Shannon and Wells Thompson. Also on the episode agenda include thoughts about Dark Ages (the upcoming Marvel epic from Tom Taylor), Rorschach Lives and UCP Graphic, the new comic publishing company from NBC Universal.
Take a trip with the OG crew as they venture back to 1983 to visit "X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills," a classic X-men tale that should be read by any comic book fan. The X-Men love doesn't stop there as both Nick & James ended up picking X-Men books for storyline suggestions. This episode, Nick and James start off the show by remembering Joel Schumacher. Then the guys review Tom King's "Omega Men," before diving into their storyline suggestions. Another Tom King book gets suggested by Nick with "Strange Adventures" and he also recommends "Hotell" from AWA Upshot. Also on the agenda for the day are a look through the September Previews catalogs and how people in the industry are getting ousted as some bad folks.
Nick & James take a look into the new "anti-crisis" from DC Comics, Death Metal #1. The pair also discuss Jeff Lemiere's Sentient from TKO Studio, which was just nominated for an Eisner for "Best Limited Series." Green Goblin is set to return to comics and the topic of overused villains gets thrown around online. Does GG count as overused? Who else could be an overused villain? Does James have the ultimate outlook on another villain, the Joker? That's a yes to that last one.
