The LawDog Files by D. Lawdog | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: The LawDog Files Author: D. Lawdog Narrator: David T. Williams Format: Unabridged Length: 4 hrs and 29 mins Language: English Release date: 01-18-18 Publisher: Castalia House Genres: Comedy, Memoirs Summary: LawDog had the honor of representing law and order in the Texas town of Bugscuffle as a sheriff's deputy, where he became notorious for, among other things, the famous Case of the Pink Gorilla Suit. In The LawDog Files, he chronicles his official encounters with everything from naked bikers, combative eco-warriors, suicidal drunks, respectful methheads, prison tattoo artists, and creepy children to six-foot chickens and lethal chihuahuas. The LawDog Files range from the bittersweet to the explosively hilarious, as LawDog relates his unforgettable experiences in a laconic, self-deprecating manner that is funny in its own right. The audiobook is more than mere entertainment, it is an education in two English dialects, Police and Texas Country. And underlying the humor is an unmistakable sympathy for society's less fortunate - and in most cases, significantly less intelligent - whose encounters with the law are an all-too-frequent affair. Notes from the Underground (AmazonClassics Edition) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: Notes from the Underground (AmazonClassics Edition) Author: Fyodor Dostoyevsky Narrator: Pete Simonelli Format: Unabridged Length: 4 hrs and 32 mins Language: English Release date: 01-10-18 Publisher: Brilliance Audio Genres: Classics, World Literature Summary: Isolated from society in a tenement basement in St. Petersburg, a malicious former civil servant vents his resentments. In the rambling notes that follow, we are exposed to the inner turmoil of the Underground Man, who represents the voice of his generation. An emotional, paranoid knot of contradictions, the spiteful narrator is also desperate to join a society he loathes, if only to prove his superiority to it. Exploring themes of free will versus determinism, Dostoyevsky's existential exploration was written to challenge increasingly popular Western egoist philosophies. In the Underground Man, he found the embodiment of the antihero, whose behavior - like all human behavior - defies rationalization. Trips to the Moon by Lucian of Samosata | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: Trips to the Moon Author: Lucian of Samosata Narrator: William Martin Format: Unabridged Length: 3 hrs and 25 mins Language: English Release date: 01-03-18 Publisher: Audioliterature Genres: Classics, World Literature Summary: "Trips to the Moon" is a second century satire by Lucian of Samosata. He ridicules the tendencies of Greek historians to enlarge the explorations of their fellow citizens. He condemns these practices in the first part: "Instructions for Writing History". The next part of the work is "The True History", which depicts a trip to the moon as a mockery to his magnifying contemporaries. The audiobook ends with "Icaro-Menippus: A Dialogue". Excerpt from the first part: "Another famous writer has given an account of everything that passed, from beginning to end, in Armenia, Syria, Mesopotamia, upon the Tigris, and in Media, and all in less than five hundred lines; and when he had done this, tells us, he has written a history. The title, which is almost as long as the work, runs thus: 'A narrative of everything done by the Romans in Armenia, Media, and Mesopotamia, by Antiochianus, who gained a prize in the sacred games of Apollo.' I suppose, when he was a boy, he had conquered in a running match." Lucian of Samosata (c. 125-c. 180) was a rhetorician and satirist who wrote in Greek. He is noted for his witty and scoffing nature. ©2018 Audioliterature (P)2018 Audioliterature Contact: info@hotaudiobook.com

War and Peace 1 by Leo Tolstoy | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: War and Peace 1 Author: Leo Tolstoy Narrator: Ella Porter Format: Unabridged Length: 15 hrs and 6 mins Language: English Release date: 12-31-17 Publisher: Audioliterature Genres: Classics, World Literature Summary: "War and Peace" (1869) is a classic novel by Leo Tolstoy, which is regarded as a central work of world literature and one of Tolstoy's finest literary achievements. The novel chronicles the history of the French invasion of Russia and the impact of the Napoleonic era on Tsarist society through the stories of five Russian aristocratic families. Volume One begins in 1805 in Saint Petersburg, at a soirée. The plot moves to Moscow, contrasting its provincial, more Russian ways to the more European society of Petersburg. The story continues at a country estate, and then Tolstoy describes the impending Russian-French war preparations. The major event in the book is the Battle of Austerlitz, portrayed as an early test for Russia, which ended badly because the soldiers fought for irrelevant things like glory or renown rather than the higher virtues which would produce, according to Tolstoy, a victory at Borodino during the 1812 invasion. ©2017 Audioliterature. Mosses from an Old Manse by Nathaniel Hawthorne | Audiobook
Listen to full audiobooks for free on : https://hotaudiobook.com/free Title: Mosses from an Old Manse Author: Nathaniel Hawthorne Narrator: George Doyle Format: Unabridged Length: 18 hrs and 41 mins Language: English Release date: 12-25-17 Publisher: Audioliterature Genres: Classics, World Literature Summary: Many of the tales collected in "Mosses from an Old Manse" are allegories and, typical of Hawthorne, focus on the negative side of human nature. Hawthorne's friend Herman Melville noted this aspect in his review about Hawthorne and his "Mosses": "This black conceit pervades him through and through. You may be witched by his sunlight, transported by the bright gildings in the skies he builds over you; but there is the blackness of darkness beyond; and even his bright gildings but fringe and play upon the edges of thunder-clouds." William Henry Channing noted in his review of the collection that its author "had been baptized in the deep waters of Tragedy", and his work was dark with only brief moments of "serene brightness" which was never brighter than "dusky twilight". ©2017 Audioliterature (P)2017 Audioliterature Contact: info@hotaudiobook.com
