He received his Medical degree from Vanderbilt’s School of Medicine and served his 4 years of Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Pennsylvania and Vanderbilt. He is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine.

Together with Cynthia Tang, he is coauthor of the CDI Pocket Guide now available as an electronic, web-based version and was written the Coding Corner column of the ACP Hospitalist magazine for 13 years.
