Karla's Greatest Hits: How Things Got Better in my 30s
Hey everyone! It’s just me today, going solo to talk about something I’ve been reflecting on a lot lately, how life actually got better in my 30s. When I was in my 20s, everything felt like a race. I was constantly chasing goals, people, and opportunities because I thought that was what success looked like. But somewhere along the way, I realized that peace, focus, and health feel a lot more like real success than chaos ever did. In this episode, I’m sharing some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned so far, what I let go of, what I started prioritizing, and how my mindset changed when I stopped trying to do everything all at once. Here’s what I’m diving into today: Why health became my biggest leverage in my 30s How simplicity helped me attract more of what’s right for me The difference between doing more and doing what actually matters How curating my relationships gave me peace Why joy became my measure of success instead of hustle The freedom that comes when you finally stop comparing yourself to others In my 20s, I used to think I had to keep saying yes to everything to move forward. Now I see that saying no, strategically and kindly, was one of the best things I ever learned. I found that my 30s weren’t about slowing down. They were about leveling up with more grace and less noise. If you’re in a season where things feel uncertain or if you’ve been questioning your pace, I hope this episode reminds you that you’re exactly where you need to be. Growth doesn’t always look loud or busy. Sometimes it looks like resting, letting go, and trusting that what’s meant for you will stay. How to Show Up Online Even if You're an Introvert with Hannah Blancas
Karla Singson sits down with Hannah Blancas, a brand visibility strategist, for a conversation about how introverts and extroverts approach business differently and how both can succeed. Hannah’s work focuses on helping entrepreneurs build visibility without burning out, especially those who do not feel comfortable being loud online. From her years of coaching, she has seen how introverts often wait until they have carefully crafted their message before showing up, while extroverts thrive by gaining momentum and staying visible even when things are not perfect. Both approaches can work when you know how to lean into your natural strengths. In this episode, you will learn: The surprising advantages introverts have when it comes to building genuine trust with clients Why extroverts gain traction through visibility while introverts win through depth and strategy Practical tips for networking, even if small talk feels uncomfortable How one thoughtful compliment can leave a lasting impression Why listening well is one of the most powerful business skills The mindset shift introverts need to stop hiding and start leading with confidence The most intriguing part is Hannah’s belief that introverts are not at a disadvantage at all. Their depth, intentionality, and ability to connect one-on-one may be the exact qualities that allow them to stand out in a noisy digital world. Karla and Hannah also share personal stories, from lighthearted chicken wing compliments to chance encounters at the gym, to show that visibility is not about being flashy but about showing up in ways that feel true to who you are. If you have ever felt that business success is only for the loudest person in the room, this conversation will challenge that idea. You will leave with practical tools to network, grow your visibility, and use your personality type as an advantage rather than a limitation. Disrupting the Dating Industry with John Cooper
Karla Singson sits down with John Cooper, founder of Social Heartistry, for a conversation about how he's completely disrupting the dating industry with his heart-led approach to authentic connection. John's journey from art director to dating coach led to a radical realization: most dating advice is keeping people stuck in cycles of strategy and scripts instead of genuine connection. After working as head coach with Matthew Hussey and running workshops worldwide, John decided to challenge the entire industry with his "Social Heartistry" methodology. In this episode, you'll discover: Why John moved away from traditional pickup-style dating coaching methods How he's disrupting the industry with heart-led authenticity over transactional approaches His controversial take on why most dating advice isn't actually helping people find love The creative principles from his art background that revolutionized his dating coaching His new Social Heartistry Academy designed to help Gen Z build real social confidence beyond dating apps How the same principles that transform dating also apply to sales and business relationships The most intriguing part? John believes the future of dating lies in dropping the scripts entirely and connecting through spontaneity, resonance, and genuine service to others. Karla and John dive deep into what's broken about current dating culture, why authenticity beats strategy every time, and how John's artistic approach is creating real transformations for people seeking meaningful relationships. If you're tired of dating advice that feels inauthentic or curious about a completely different approach to finding love, this conversation will challenge everything you think you know about modern dating.   Ready to Experience Dating Differently? If John's heart-led approach to dating resonated with you, dive deeper into Social Heartistry. On Self Confidence and Self Esteem with Ray and Laura Blakney
Hey everyone! Today I'm sitting down with two of my closest friends here in Playa del Carmen for a conversation that hits different.  We're talking about something most entrepreneurs struggle with but rarely discuss openly: the difference between self-confidence and self-esteem. Meet Ray Blakney, a Filipino-American entrepreneur, and his wife Laura Ramirez Blakney, a Mexican-born language educator. Over the past 18 years, they've built over 20 profitable companies, sold 4 of them, and taken multiple to multi-seven-figure success, including their global language-learning platform Live Lingua. Their newest venture, Online School Builders, helps experts turn their knowledge into thriving online schools. What We Talked About: Ray shares a mentor's definition that completely shifted his perspective: self-confidence is believing you can do anything; self-esteem is believing you don't have to.  When scammers destroyed his business, his high self-confidence couldn't save him from an identity crisis. We dive into what depression actually looked like for both of them, how Laura's cultural approach helped pull Ray through his darkest moments, and why high-powered executives have the exact same self-doubts as everyone else (they just act anyway). Plus, we explore their "wisdom to wealth" philosophy and how they help experienced professionals turn their knowledge into profitable schools. My Favorite Insight: Laura's approach to supporting Ray wasn't just cultural, it was strategic. She reminded him he was more than his business success, gave him space to process, then literally created action plans on giant sticky notes to pull his intellectual side back online. This conversation reminded me why I love talking about the non-business side of business. Success isn't just about confidence. It's about knowing you're worthy even when everything falls apart.   Connect with Ray & Laura: Website: onlineschoolbuilders.com  Free workshops and community access available Join their newsletter for practical courses from 7 and 8-figure school builders Thanks to Proximity Outsourcing for sponsoring this episode! If you need to outsource your tedious tasks so you can focus on what matters, visit proximityoutsourcing.com See you in two weeks for another episode of None of Your Business!   P.S. - If you know an expert who should turn their knowledge into a school, send them Ray and Laura's way. When Wealth Goes Viral: Nepo Babies, Corruption, and the Price of Influence in the Philippines with PR Pro Jesse Boga
What happens when the children of the country’s most powerful families flaunt ₱700,000 dinners and designer bags online—while ordinary Filipinos wade through floods? In this episode of None of Your Business, Karla Singson sits down with journalist and PR professional Jesse Boga to unpack the cultural, political, and media machine behind the rise of these “influencers.”Together, they ask: Why can’t some wealthy people stop oversharing their excess? With all their money, why do they skip basic PR training? How did we get to a point where flaunting wealth became influence? Why does society admire inherited privilege instead of real value-creators? And is a revolution what it will take to finally fix this broken system? As honest taxpayers, how do we feel about all these questionable sources of wealth from "government contractors"? This is not your typical conversation on wealth and power. This is a raw look at how media, corruption, and blind aspiration collide, and why Filipinos deserve better role models. If you’ve ever wondered why we follow people who don’t truly serve us, or what it would take to redirect admiration toward real builders and leaders, this episode will leave you fired up and thinking differently. Listen now, and let’s talk about the uncomfortable truths behind the glitter. For comments and further discussion, comment to this episode, or connect with Karla here: Karla's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/karlastefan/Karla's Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/karlasingson.official

Stupid Spending Decisions by Entrepreneurs with Cameron Williams
Today's episode feels like the perfect follow-up to my recent solo episode about toxic Filipino money mindsets. Because apparently every culture has their own messy relationship with money, and entrepreneurs? We're no exception. I'm sitting down with Cameron Williams, CEO and founder of Kynly Consulting, who has 12 years in the accounting industry and has helped hundreds of marketing agencies save over $2 million in taxes. Cameron's on a mission to impact 300 marketing agencies by 2030, and today we're diving into the stupid spending decisions entrepreneurs make (yes, including some of my own embarrassing confessions). What We Talked About: We dive deep into why entrepreneurs want opposite things (scaling fast while hoarding cash), the shocking difference between cash flow and profit (spoiler: they're NOT the same), and how the comparison trap makes us think we're failing when we're actually winning. Cameron breaks down when to hire what. Plus, my rant about spiritual entrepreneurs who think tracking numbers kills their vibe, and why lifestyle creep destroys businesses faster than bad marketing. My Favorite Quote: "You can have all the faith, but you can't be doing no work. You can't do all the work and have no faith. You gotta do both." This conversation really opened my eyes to why I used to say "I'm better at making more money than cutting back". And how that mindset, while not wrong, needed better strategy behind it.   Connect with Cameron: Website: kynlyconsulting.com Facebook: Cameron Williams (daily valuable content!) Dealing With Toxic Filipino Money Mindsets
Growing Up Filipino: Toxic Money Mindsets We Need to Leave Behind Hey everyone! Today I'm going solo to talk about something really close to my heart—those toxic Filipino money mindsets we grew up with that are still messing with our adult lives, our businesses, and even our relationships. This episode was inspired by a viral thread I posted about setting boundaries with money, specifically how I made it publicly clear that I don't lend money to anyone. Yes, not even my siblings (unless it's a real emergency). And the responses were... interesting. What We're Unpacking Today: I'm diving deep into five toxic Filipino money behaviors that are keeping us financially stuck—from the crushing pressure OFWs face to send money home at their own expense, to that weird culture where birthday celebrants are expected to pay for everyone else's meal. We'll explore how shame-based spending, fatalistic attitudes toward money, and unspoken family obligations create cycles of financial dependency that hurt everyone involved. Plus, I'm sharing some personal stories from my own journey as a former family breadwinner and why I had to set some hard boundaries. My Personal Take: I've been the family breadwinner. I've experienced the pressure, the guilt, and the financial hardship of putting everyone else first. But I've also learned that helping others shouldn't come at the expense of your own financial security—because if you get sick or lose your job, will those same people be able to help you?   This episode is especially for my fellow Filipino entrepreneurs, OFWs, and anyone trying to balance family obligations with building personal wealth. If this resonates with you, I'd love to hear your thoughts! You’re Not Crazy, You’re Remembering: Healing Through Spiritual Awakening and Somatic Work with Gabriella Cacciatore
What does it look like to actually heal through the body? Most of the time people don't even touch into their body—they're just in their head and that's how they're living. Today, I sit down with trauma coach, spiritual mentor, and author Gabriella Cacciatore to explore how entrepreneurs might be unconsciously running their businesses from unprocessed trauma. Gabriella is the author of "Unbroken," a raw memoir about surviving childhood sexual abuse, remembering repressed trauma, and healing through the body. She helps survivors connect to their truth through somatic work, nervous system regulation, and emotional integration. Her work is raw, real, and rooted in deep lived experience—she's not here to sugarcoat healing. What We Talked About How to ground yourself using your five senses in everyday moments The terrifying yet liberating experience of repressed memories surfacing Why entrepreneurs often run businesses from a nervous system stuck in survival mode Simple workplace practices for processing emotions (including color-association exercises) The difference between talking about trauma and truly embodying the healing process How to rebuild self-trust when you've lost it through small, consistent promises The connection between spiritual awakening and trauma healing Why "healing is not from a healer, healing is from yourself" About Gabriella's Book "Unbroken" Launching August 18th, "Unbroken" takes readers through trauma, healing, and reclamation in three parts. It's for anyone who's experienced trauma and feels like they can't come out of it—showing that there is life, hope, and joy after trauma. Ways I Changed My Life When I Committed to Mindful Spending
This is not your typical budgeting episode. I’m not here to lecture you about lattes. Instead, I’m sharing how mindful spending—yep, just being a little more intentional with your money—led to massive shifts in my mental clarity, emotional stability, and even how I run my business. After a chaotic move back to Mexico (we still haven’t unpacked everything ), some surprising expenses, and a lot of internal debates with my old impulsive shopper self, I’ve finally found a new groove. In this episode, I’ll walk you through what changed, how it happened, and why I think you might want to give this mindful money thing a try. In this episode, we talk about: How I hit my record month in June 2025 and what helped The surprising connection between less clutter and sharper decisions My personal challenge: 90 days without Amazon Why walking out of the store is sometimes the biggest flex The internal tug-of-war between "you deserve this" and "be smart about it" Paying off a $10,000 surprise debt—without panicking Why mindful spending = more power, not less freedom What changed when I started asking: “Will I love this forever?” Want to share your mindful money wins or past shopping regrets? Why Debate Was the Best Preparation for Life, Career, and Business with Kim Castillo
This episode has been a long time coming. I’m joined by one of my favorite people in the world—Kim, who happens to be a User Experience Program Manager at Google. I may have slightly bullied her into doing this, the same way I scammed her into being a bridesmaid at my wedding. Kim leads the cross-functional research efforts for DORA (yes, that DORA report) and manages user research initiatives under Google Cloud. But before she became the boss lady she is now, she and I were teammates on the college debate team. We talk about how debate shaped our careers, our communication styles, and our ability to survive—and even thrive—in high-pressure environments. We share our most embarrassing tournament memories, how debate gave us the confidence to speak on stage and lead teams, and why the skills we learned as students are still paying off today. What We Talked About Why debate is the ultimate crash course in public speaking and critical thinking The skills from debate that help in corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, and sales Why confidence sometimes just looks like pushing through with butterflies in your stomach Funny stories from our debate failures (spoiler: someone misunderstood what “embargo” meant) Lessons in stamina, prep, and how debate tournaments are mental marathons The difference between persuasion and substance—and how you need both to lead effectively What happens when you have to argue for a side you don’t agree with How these skills make you sharper at work, in business, and in life If you have a kid—or know someone—consider encouraging them to join a debate team. It’s not just for nerds or aspiring lawyers. It’s a serious skill builder that opens doors, builds confidence, and gives you lifelong advantages. Whether you're heading into business or climbing the corporate ladder, debate can make all the difference. Also, starting this month, None of Your Business will shift from weekly to monthly episodes. I’ll be focusing some energy on launching a new podcast for location-independent business owners. But don’t worry, this show isn’t going anywhere—it’s just pacing itself better, the same way we learned to do in debate. Let's connect: Instagram: @karlastefan Website: karlasingson.com

Let’s be real: the economy isn’t exactly throwing us a party right now. Groceries are up, essentials are feeling like luxuries, and even the most seasoned entrepreneurs are asking: What now? In this episode, I sit down with two of my favorite humans—Martin and Chelsea Matthews—to talk about what online entrepreneurs need to know as we move through (and maybe already in) a recession. How Food Connects us to Places and People, and How We can Use this for Business with Rosemary Kimani & Claire Rouger
If you’re someone who lights up at the smell of a simmering pot or feels nostalgic over a childhood snack, this episode is for you. Today, I sit down with the amazing Rosemary Kimani, co-founder of Authentic Food Quest—a platform dedicated to connecting travelers with cultures through local food and immersive cooking vacations. Since 2015, she and her partner Claire have explored the cuisine of 45 countries and over 290 food cities, spotlighting the kind of culinary experiences that go far beyond what's on the plate. We talked about everything—from soul-warming tomato stews in Argentina, surprise snail dinners in Vietnam, to the simple snack that bonded me with my mom. But more than just food, this episode dives into how meals open doors to connection, understanding, and even business growth. In this episode, we covered: Why food is never just food—it’s emotion, memory, culture, and connection How to deepen travel experiences by choosing what’s truly local How food melts walls in business settings and helps build real trust 3 food tourism trends you can use in your own business: authenticity, sustainability, and wellness The power of storytelling (even a $10 chocolate bar can go a long way) Why entrepreneurs should celebrate local culture through food—whether you're hosting clients, motivating a team, or building brand identity And if you’re someone who’s been dreaming of that once-in-a-lifetime foodie adventure, Rose shared all about Authentic Food Quest’s immersive cooking vacations in Italy and Greece. Think: homemade pasta with a real Italian nonna, cheese-making in the countryside, wine tastings, and dancing in the moonlight. Um—yes, please. This episode might just convince you to try that unpronounceable dish, recreate a family recipe, or book a food trip of a lifetime. And if you’ve been looking for a unique incentive trip for your team, a food quest might just be the answer. Lessons from My First Golf Tournament with My Husband
Today, I’m sharing all the unexpected lessons I learned from joining my first-ever golf tournament—with my husband. If you’ve ever thought about working with your spouse, cooking together, or picking up a hobby as a couple, this episode is for you. But let’s take it up a notch—how about competing together? Let me tell you, it was a ride. This episode is packed with:️‍♀️ The one thing that threw off our entire tournament experience—and how we recovered⚖️ Why balancing emotions in a relationship (especially during high-stress moments) is everything The hidden connection between optimism, energy, and winning at life (and business!) Why stamina matters more than skill in competitions—and how I learned this the hard way The simplest mindset shift that helped me stay focused and actually play better The power of community and why you should always connect with the people you meet in competitions And the best part—how all of this made me love my husband (and our life together) even more It was exhausting, exhilarating, and honestly, so much fun. And even if you’re not into golf, I hope this episode inspires you to try something competitive with your partner—whether it’s a friendly board game, a cooking contest, or, who knows, maybe even an Ironman (okay, probably not). Starting the Year Right with Proper Goal Setting and Motivation with Life Coach Josh Froc
As the new year rolls around, we are always faced with this sense of a fresh start. Optimism. New goals. New challenges. Somehow a better version of ourselves.    A few years have passed, and unfortunately we’ve also seen ourselves drift from who we intended to be. In fact, studies have shown that by January 17, most people already failed their “New Year’s Resolutions”.   What is up with this? After a while, I quit asking myself that, and sought the help of someone smarter than me. :)    Enter Josh Froc. Most young kids, around 5 years old, go through a (very annoying) phase of asking “why”. Over, and over, and over.    Josh never stopped. Today, he’s a certified Positive Intelligence Coach, and he helps people understand what motivates them, and what matters to them. He has spent years studying habit formation and behavioural change, and is hugely influenced by Dr. Benjamin Hardy. One of the problems he most loves to help with, is the secret anxiety that drives many high performers to be great- and turn that into the joy of challenge.    In this podcast episode, we discussed how most entrepreneurs treat the New Year in terms of goal setting, motivation, and perseverance. We talked about…   How entrepreneurs usually like going fast, always love to find the shortest way to go somewhere, and they always focus on moving forward, forgetting one very important thing…  Easy tricks to tick things off your to do box, whether it’s a day’s to-do list or a lifelong bucket list  Two strategies for starting the year with a positive mindset no matter what happened last year The surprising illustration of the scale of the human consciousness, and how you can use this to “demand feeling better” His best advice for overcoming resistance to new goals (and blaming the busy-ness of life) The simplest thing people almost never do, but is so useful…. When it comes to goal setting The power of vision x affirmation x accountability   Over the last 3 years Josh has run a morning club for entrepreneurs, starting at 5AM and helping them get clear on what matters, and start the day with positive momentum.    Get in touch with Josh and check out his 5-day Challenge, where you create a vision for your future that pulls your forward and identify with your future self. He also hosts the “Slow Productivity Club”, a mastermind group of entrepreneurs that is accountable, and starts the day right with momentum. Helping Men Quit Porn and Other Vices with Devin McDermott
For a while now, I’ve always thought about the looming societal collapse brought about by porn. This started when I read about this OnlyFans chick setting out ads to attract 100 guys who want to have sex with her in one day.    That news was so shocking to me, and the more I delved into its story, it broke my heart how big the problem is. As luck would have it, I chanced upon an old friend at one of my favorite wellness spas in Playa, and learned that he helps men quit porn addiction and assists them in optimizing the other parts of their life.   My friend– Devin McDermott. He got into the porn addiction recovery industry after overcoming a 13-year addiction, which was extremely difficult for him, and then, after feeling how much his life improved because of that change (and all the other changes I had to make in order to successfully quit...) he decided he wanted to help others with it, too. Four years later, he has worked with over 125 guys from all over the world, and impacted thousands through his newsletter, MagneticMan.co.    I invited Devin to come on the pod to discuss this, and we’d love for you to sit with us and do a deep dive into this topic. We chatted about…    Surprising statistics about porn, married men with OnlyFans subscription accounts, erectile dysfunction in young men  How porn is worse than alcohol or drugs… even if you only “do it casually or rarely” Most common misconceptions about porn  How the masculine core is rooted in discipline, purpose, and mission, and if men cannot fix this, they will always be dissatisfied with who they are being  Addressing rationalizations for porn use, and easy mindset shifts How porn addiction bleeds through other parts of the man’s life  How to properly quit porn… and other bad habits in your life (big or small)  Resources, tools, and learnings in beating ANY addiction Success stories from Devin’s past clients…who are the people you would least expect to be addicted to porn   I had a really great time discussing this with Devin, and it was so refreshing to discuss this with the male perspective because I felt like it made our conversation more holistic.    Check out Devin’s work on X: https://x.com/devinmcdermot   Sign up for Devin’s FREE newsletter: https://magneticman.co/   If you need help with porn addiction or any digital vices, get in touch with Devin or check out his newsletter. On Burnout and Business Exits with Business Coach Jamie Toyne
Burnout may be an overused or misused word in the entrepreneur world. However, it’s a glaring ambulance siren that needs to be paid attention to.  When someone is risking burnout in what they’re doing, they need to know what to do and how to process it right. Trust me– I’m a serial entrepreneur, and while I do love the hustle, I’ve burnt out too many times which led me to lead a softer, more spacious life right now. The secret? The right knowledge, the right tools, and of course, high level outsourcing.  Outside outsourcing (my expertise), I sit with another expert in business growth and burnouts.  After researching the connection between 'ADHD', 'Burnout' and 'Flow' Jamie developed a coaching program called 'Flowjo' which helps ADHD founders to cure burnout, harness their ADHD superpowers, and start flowing towards their goals. Jamie was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and has burnt out three times in his career - once as a professional tennis player, and twice as a business owner. He has used this experience as fuel to pursue his passion in solving one of entrepreneurs’ biggest challenges: burnout. Jamie Toyne is also the Author of the 'Pressure Gauge Mindset' and Founder of two other companies called Dealflow and Exitplanr, that helped more than 400 entrepreneurs successfully exit their business. In his 13+ years of coaching business owners, he has clarified a lot of things for me in this podcast. Check out some highlights…. How you know if the “juice is worth the squeeze” and if you’re working towards a goal without burnout  What is burnout, really? And how can we avoid it? A deep discussion on the STATE OF FLOW, and what can we do to find this and exercise it more often in our lives  Important factors that lead to business exits (we reveal 6/7 in this podcast episode!) Myths and surprising facts about burnout that not a lot of entrepreneurs know Of ADHD and how most entrepreneurs navigate this diagnosis while running and growing businesses  This podcast episode was such an eye opener for me. Even though I would consider myself an expert in delegation, outsourcing, and leadership, there were still blind spots for me in terms of fully understanding burnout and flow.  For Jamie, thank you for sitting with me and fleshing this out.  For our listeners, I highly encourage you to check out Jamie’s FREE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL: Flowjo.    Flowjo Finder is a diagnostic tool that measures your level of flow versus burnout, identifying specific blockers you can remove to start flowing towards your goals. Diagnostic Tool Link: https://www.jamietoyne.com/flowjo-finder   If you need expert help working through burnout, I recommend checking out Jamie’s 12-week coaching program, that helps entrepreneurs with ADHD harness their superpower to make scaling their business faster, easier, and a lot more fun. On Life and Purpose with Bob Mathers
As busy entrepreneurs, we often forget to ask ourselves some of life’s most important questions.  One of these questions being… what is our life purpose, and how important is it? In this episode, business consultant and customer success pro Bob Mathers sits down with me to do a deep dive into:  What does purpose mean to you, how do you shape it? When was the first time we asked ourselves this question? What we think of having “something that transcends us” What is the opposite of “having a purpose”? What we think stops people from finding their purpose in life What he learned from a hospice nurse…about life and regrets What we think is the ONE THING that makes life better This was such a soul-filling conversation and experience, and my only wish is that you also share this with someone you care about.  Follow Bob on LinkedIn. Check out Bob’s work in business consulting and customer success.
