10. Force 10. From Navarone.
Whether you like your films shaken or stirred, this forgotten classic directed by Guy Hamilton (Goldfinger) and written by Alistair MacLean (Guns of Navarone) is a fantastic cocktail of spy thriller set against World War II.
Join the Average Joes - Jon and Steven - on our first episode in this Forgotten Films series.

'Just Mercy' - a film based on the real life efforts of Bryan Stevenson - dives into the need for just representation for those wrongfully treated or accused by the justice system. Appropriately timed, writer and director Destin Daniel Cretton brings to light the account of one man's journey to justice and the people touched along the way. Serving as a springboard in our current climate and conversation, 'Just Mercy' allows the audience a glimpse into the current struggle of those underprivileged either based on ethnicity or socioeconomic status.
Having grown up in the suburbs and rural South, we want to lean into the awkward conversations, difficult circumstances, complex issues, and the rawness of the plight facing minorities in our lifetime. We're by no means experts and we have a lot to learn - but we hope to walk with our brothers and sisters who are not like us in an effort to love and understand what they face every day.

While we don't have to agree on the solution, the problem is clear and we must stand for those who have been burdened with fear and hate on both sides of this complex issue.

Bowman may have lost his voice this week but we still couldn't wait to share this voicemail from one of our most loyal listeners. Aron asks about common film terms and asks for more tech babble during our show. Don't worry Aron! We'll make it happen!

Bowman gets dangerously close to complaining about Chris Columbus' 1999 film 'Bicentennial Man'. Hear how Robin Williams used his manic humor to bring life to Andrew the household robot with aspirations to become human. With classic 90s cliche's, 'Bicentennial Man' tries to tackle what it means to be truly human.
Bowman and Jon get more than a little personal with our struggles and failures and why we love films so much. Being Human means falling short and dealing with the reality of life. It is rarely like a well-written three act film. Robin Williams' films are full of the depths and our review could not be complete without dealing with the real life struggle of depression, anxiety, and even suicide. Please find a support base and someone to walk through the depths with you. At the very least, the Suicide Hotline is 1-800-273-8255. You may fail but you are valuable - truly.
Maverick may be a dying breed but he can still make a pretty cool trailer. Despite Bowman's best efforts, Jon wiggles Top Gun: Maverick to the trailer talk playlist. Will Bowman finally breakdown and see this 80s classic?

This cerebral classic from James Gray takes a long hard look at what it means to be human and face your own sins and those of your parents. Set against space exploration grounded in reality - 'Ad Astra' does not disappoint!
