In this episode, Nichole sits down with Dr. Robert Yu, a holistic-minded periodontist based in St. Petersburg, Florida, to explore how pregnancy, postpartum, and the seasons of motherhood can impact your teeth, gums, and overall oral health.
Dr. Yu was the surgeon behind Nichole’s year-long dental healing journey — removing old root canals, clearing infections, rebuilding bone with grafts and a sinus lift, and placing a ceramic dental implant. Together, they dive into the often-overlooked connection between motherhood, hormones, nutrient depletion, bone health, and gum disease — and what every woman should know about supporting her mouth and body through each stage of life.
This conversation bridges holistic dentistry and conventional periodontal care, offering education, empowerment, and real-life insight for women who want to approach dental health from a whole-body perspective.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode
How pregnancy and postpartum nutrient depletion affect bone and gum health
The link between periodontal disease and pregnancy outcomes like preterm or low-birth-weight babies
Why many OB-GYNs and midwives don’t emphasize gum exams — and why they should
The difference between traditional titanium implants and metal-free ceramic (zirconia) implants
The mouth–body connection: how oral bacteria can influence heart health, inflammation, and systemic disease
Dr. Yu’s preferred vitamin and mineral support for jawbone healing (vitamin D, calcium, potassium, and Metagenics Bone Builder
Why informed consent matters in dentistry — and how to advocate for yourself as a patient
The truth about bone graft materials (human, animal, and synthetic) and how to make an informed choice
Dr. Yu’s thoughts on light therapy, microcirculation, and energy-based healing for post-surgical recovery
The power of collaboration between dentists, functional medicine doctors, and holistic providers
Pregnancy and breastfeeding can deplete minerals and weaken bone structure, including the jawbone.
Healthy gums support a healthy pregnancy — untreated gum disease has been linked to preterm birth.
A gum exam (periodontal exam) is just as important as a dental cleaning for expecting or new moms.
Bone and gum health are influenced by vitamin D, calcium, and hormonal shifts.
Holistic dentistry bridges prevention and science, empowering women to make choices that align with both intuition and evidence.
Root canals. Bone grafting. Energy healing. Moon cycles. And a year without a back tooth.
In this candid solo episode, I walk you through the full-circle story of undoing two old root canals, healing bone loss, navigating surgical dentistry, and doing it all in my own way—blending conventional medicine with Expansion Principle energy healing, crystal support, and loads of intuitive prep work. You’ll hear:
What this journey taught me about shame, teeth, motherhood, and self-trust
🦷 This is Part 1 of a 2-part series. In Part 2, I’ll be interviewing my periodontist to bring you the expert lens.

Mother’s Day is a complicated one for me—and I know I’m not alone. In this episode, I open up about my relationship with Mother’s Day, especially after losing my mom just over a year ago.
This isn’t a conversation about flowers and brunch plans (though I’m not knocking either). This is a deeper reflection on grief, forgiveness, healing, and the legacy we carry—and sometimes rewrite—as daughters and mothers.
For most of my life, I had a complicated relationship with my mom. It wasn’t something I talked about publicly while she was alive, but now, as I work on the book about our story, I feel called to share more—especially for those of you who also didn’t grow up with the Hallmark version of a mother-daughter relationship.
In this episode, I share:
Why Mother’s Day can feel like grief, even if your mom is still alive
What helped me begin to forgive my mom—and why it didn’t require a conversation
The full-circle moment at our final Mother’s Day together
Why I chose to write a book instead of telling our story on social media
A powerful reframe around forgiveness, boundaries, and self-honoring
What to do when you feel like “celebrating” just doesn’t feel aligned
Whether you’re missing your mom, navigating a strained relationship, or just feeling the heaviness this day can bring—I hope this episode meets you with compassion and validation.
And as a gift, I’ve added a link to access a guided healing meditation —a gentle energy transmission through the mother line. You can revisit it anytime. It’s not a one-time fix, but it’s a sacred step.
🌸 Listen in and remember: You can honor Mother’s Day in your own way. You can feel grief and gratitude in the same breath. You can hold the full complexity of love, disappointment, and healing—and still choose softness.
If this resonates, I’d love if you shared the episode with someone who needs it. You’re not alone in this.

I’m so excited to bring you this conversation with my dear friend and mentor, Dr. Alexis Romeu. We’ve been connected since 2017, and if you’ve been around here for a while, you already know she’s no stranger to the podcast. But if this is your first time meeting her, let me properly introduce you to someone who has truly changed my life.
Dr. Alexis is a doctor of Chinese medicine turned metaphysical teacher, channel for a trans dimensional being named Simon, founder of the Expansion Principle energy healing technology (which I’m now a practitioner of), and author of two incredible books. Go off friend!
In this episode, we dive deep into what channeling actually is (spoiler: it’s not just “I had a great idea!”). We unpack the difference between readings, psychic abilities, mediumship, and true trans-channeling—where consciousness outside of you speaks through you. Alexis shares her journey of connecting with Simon, how Expansion Principle came to be, and the importance of energetic discernment (because no, you don’t just let any ol’ being borrow your vessel).
We also talk about:
How channeling is different from psychic readings (and why not all "messages" are created equal)
Why the guidance from Simon has been a game-changer for me—especially during the hardest seasons of my life
How Expansion Principle has opened up my intuitive abilities (even though I didn’t come from a traditional healing background)
The beauty of zooming out to see life from a higher perspective, especially when humaning feels like… a lot
What to expect if you’re joining us for an in-person channeling experience (yes, Alexis is coming to Tampa!)
If you’ve ever been curious about channeling, energy healing, or how to navigate life with a little more cosmic support, this conversation is for you. Plus, we share some personal stories—including how Simon casually dropped details about my book cover (that I never told Alexis) and why fairies made a surprise appearance.
✨ Tampa friends—don’t forget, Alexis will be here on May 1st for two special events: 1️⃣ A live channeling experience with Simon 2️⃣ A Meet the Author event for her newest book The Art of Sacred Relating I’ll drop the links below so you can grab your spot.
And if you’re not local, don’t worry—there are plenty of virtual ways to connect with Alexis and Simon too. Trust me, once you experience it, you’ll get why I’ve been showing up twice a month (plus private sessions) for years now.

In this episode, I’m diving into something that’s been on my heart for a while now: legacy. You know, the kind of stuff that makes you stop and think about what really matters in life. Losing my mom earlier this year, and my brother years ago, has completely reframed how I view life, work, and what we leave behind. Again.
Today, I’m talking about how we can create a legacy that feels authentic, meaningful, and (surprise!) doable. Especially for us entrepreneurs—what happens when we shift from chasing revenue goals to creating something that lasts longer than an Instagram story?
Here’s What I Cover in This Episode:

Hey everyone, grief journey update ahead. The last episode dropped on September 5th, a Thursday, and the feedback I got really warmed my heart. Some of you shared kind words, and it felt good to know my vulnerability resonated with you, especially when it comes to grief.
But, honestly? I’ve been dragging my feet about recording again. Maybe it was a vulnerability hangover, or maybe I just needed some time. When we left off last episode, I was talking about how I was dancing with my grief. Well, let me tell you how the universe delivered.
On September 6th, the day after sharing the most recent episode, my dad had a birthday party in his building—music, champagne, dancing, the works. When I walked in, he was already in his element, dancing and having a great time.
It was beautiful to see him enjoying himself, but when he noticed me and gestured for me to join him, I was hit with a wave of overwhelming emotion. The last time I had danced with my dad was at my wedding in 2015, nine years ago. The emotions hit me like a bag of bricks. I suddenly felt like I couldn’t handle it. I considered passing on the offer because I was afraid of losing my composure. But then I gave myself a quick pep talk, “Get it together! You’re not going to miss this chance.”
So, I went out there, and I’m not gonna lie—I lost it. I ugly cried right in front of everyone. Talk about a vulnerability moment! I know I’ve said that crying is healthy, and it is, but doing it in front of a room full of people is a whole different ball game.
It felt like the universe was reminding me, “Hey, you said you wanted to dance with your grief. So here you go.” And that’s exactly what I did. I ugly cried and danced with my dad for the first half of the song, and it was intense. I realized that I was not just dancing with my grief, but also with my dad’s grief—his loss of my mom, the love of his life, despite how many years it had been since they were together.
Sometimes I get so caught up in my own grief that I forget he’s grieving too. He’s been dealing with this since April, and it hit me that we were both in this dance together.
I felt it was important to share this moment because I needed a bridge to move forward from our last conversation. I hope this resonates with some of you who might also need that transition. It’s okay to feel sad, to be vulnerable, and to express those feelings—especially in a world that often tells us otherwise.
So, as you listen, remember it’s okay to dance with your grief, to cry when you need to, and to pep talk yourself into facing those tough emotions. Here’s to a week of honoring our feelings—whatever they may be. xo
In this episode, we’ll dive into a topic that’s been relevant for me lately: processing and embracing emotions, including grief. Here’s a look at what you’ll hear in the episode:
Not a Therapist: Just to be clear, I’m not a doctor or a therapist. But over the past eight years, especially since I was pregnant with my second child, I’ve worked hard to build my emotional intelligence and learn to recognize and process my feelings.
Crying as a Tool: I want to talk about crying—something that makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Personally, I cry almost every day, and I’ve come to see it as a valuable way to process emotions.
Old Emotions: I’m still working on clearing out emotions I’ve been holding onto for over 30 years. It’s been a long journey, but one that I’ve learned so much from.
Finding Safe Spaces: It’s crucial to find spaces where I feel comfortable expressing my emotions. These safe spaces are defined by trust and the ability to hold my feelings without judgment.
Safe Spaces Defined: For me, safe spaces aren’t just physical places but are defined by the trust and emotional capacity of the people around me.
Emotional Capacity: Not everyone has the emotional bandwidth to support others’ emotions. I’ve learned that it’s okay to ask if someone has the capacity to listen before sharing my feelings.
Parenting Through Grief: I’ve learned to model healthy emotional expression for my children, showing them that it’s okay to cry and talk about our feelings openly.
Teaching Through Example: By sharing my emotions with my kids, I aim to teach them how to handle their own grief and feelings in a healthy way.
Experiencing Joy: It’s been challenging but essential for me to allow myself to feel joy even when I’m grieving. I’ve learned that both joy and sadness can coexist.
Finding Beauty in the Storm: Embracing both sadness and joy, and recognizing the beauty in difficult times, helps me find balance and healing.
Thank you for tuning in, friend. I hope this episode helps you navigate your own emotional landscape with greater ease, flow, and compassion. xo

In this episode, let’s go deeper into the concept of "staying in your own lane," building on last week's discussion about its potential harm when imposed on others. We’ll explore the nuanced perspective of when it's appropriate to embrace this mentality, particularly in the context of personal growth and innovation.
Nuanced Perspective:
I acknowledge the gray areas, recognizing both the dangers of projecting "stay in your own lane" onto others and its value in fostering authenticity and innovation. It's crucial to resist blindly conforming to industry norms while carving out our own paths authentically, especially when we see alternative, more efficient approaches.
Examples and Insights:
Drawing from my time in the doula industry, I illustrate the importance of courage and innovation in breaking away from conventional practices. From there, I expand the discussion to motherhood, where societal expectations often butt heads with our own unique needs. Goal: flex your discernment and create your own realities.
Navigating Industries:
I share personal reflections on removing myself from toxic environments and cultivating a tailored approach to business and life, particularly along my entrepreneurial journey. Heavy on maintaining focus amidst industry noise and controversies, and staying true to our missions and values.

Now, it's not my usual style to dive into internet drama, but sometimes, you come across something that hits close to home. Recently, I stumbled upon a post on Facebook where someone suggested that “Beyoncé should stick to her own lane and stay out of country music.” Now, this struck a chord with me, not just because I'm a fan of Beyoncé, but because it's reflective of a mindset that we should have left behind by now.
Let's break this down together and understand why such comments are not just harmful, but also a reflection of someone's own limiting beliefs. As we enter 2024, it's high time we move away from shrinking ourselves and others based on preconceived notions.
As a woman entrepreneur who has faced her fair share of challenges and risks, I feel a responsibility to address these harmful comments. Moreover, as a mother to black children, it's crucial to speak out against perpetuating stereotypes, especially when it's coming from one (white) woman about another (Black) woman.
The claim that someone should stay in their lane is essentially a projection of the individual's small perception of themselves. We shouldn't be putting people into boxes, whether it's about their music, their work, or even their role in motherhood. We are here to expand, evolve, and try new things.
Now, if you're in a position of influence, be it as an entrepreneur, mentor, or guide, remember the sacred responsibility that comes with it. Your words carry weight, and they can either inspire or discourage those who look up to you.
Putting someone in a box not only limits their creative expression but also goes against the universal commandment of being fully expressed as individuals. The journey to self-expression involves shedding old layers and making space for the new, for your soul's expression.
I'm currently diving into an audiobook on creativity, and it emphasizes that some of the best art can be polarizing. Not everyone has to like it, and that's perfectly fine. Our world needs a spectrum of voices, flavors, and expressions.
So, instead of limiting others, let's be aware of our reactions and thoughts when we encounter such statements. Here are a few questions for you to ponder: 1) Can you cheer for others when they take risks? 2) Can you allow yourself and others to step outside of boxes and labels?, and 3) Can you embrace people's highest possibilities?
It's time to break free from the old paradigm, hold visions of highest possibilities, and create a world where diversity and creativity flourish.
And by the way, have you heard Beyoncé's latest country tracks? They're on repeat in my car, and yes, I'm officially a country music fan in 2024. #influenced.

In this episode, you'll learn the magic behind how I recently taught my youngest child to ride a bike without training wheels. Adds this to the list of topics that I never thought I’d podcast about. The response on social media was overwhelming, with tons of DMs asking about my technique. Tune in for my secret.
I draw parallels between teaching bike riding and tackling those huge life projects like writing a book, launching a podcast, or creating a digital course. My not-so-secret sauce starts with breaking it all down into bite-sized, manageable chunks and relishing those quick wins.
When taking off the training wheels, this starts with a piece of sidewalk chalk and a simple line on the pavement. You’ll hear my non-expert step-by-step method, where we celebrate every small achievement, creating an excited vibe.
Then, you’ll hear my perspective on surrendering to the outcome. They key to this piece: a heavy dose of patience and trust. Whether it takes a couple of days or a week, the goal is to make it fun!
And in true Nichole Joy fashion, I turned it into a business / life lesson for you.
As I draw parallels between teaching bike riding and conquering big projects, you’ll learn about compounding your skill set. It's like adding layers to your expertise in podcasting, writing, or any other area of life.
Before you go, please don’t forget to share your experiences with me—whether it's teaching your kid to ride a bike or conquering your dreamy delulu projects. Tag me on social media, send a DM, or share your thoughts. I’d love to celebrate with you! 🚲✨
