We believe that George R. R. Martin has put a lot of effort and thought into creating a deeper dimension of archetype and symbol in his writing. He’s created connections between past and future, between sky and ground. He’s built on classic figures from world mythology and twisted them around in new and incredible ways to fashion his own archetypal characters whose divine roles are played out by the characters in the story. He’s done all of this not only to be artistic and clever, but because he’s actually participating in a grand tradition of esoteric, symbolic art. Keeping this tradition alive is of critical importance and tremendous value to society, and that is why I believe this facet of A Song of Ice and Fire is so worthy of study. This podcast is intended to be our vehicle to explore these inner workings, and it is fueled by enthusiasm, yours and mine.

It's the ultimate face-stealing assassin training ground for Arya Stark, but what are the Faceless Men actually doing when they wear people's faces? Is that magic? Why do they have so much weirwood in their House of Black and White? What is their agenda, with Arya or anything else? What does this have to do with House Bolton? And why are they collecting so much dragon stuff?

The Stark Direwolf Psychic Network - A Song of Ice and Fire - A Game of Thrones
We know greenseers and skinchangers are psychic, but did you notice that the wolves have their own wolf-to-wolf telepathy, and that the Starks can use it to talk to one another, and even boost each other's magic? Plus, there may be something similar going on with the ravens...

Where did the Dothraki Come From? Culture & History - A Song of Ice and Fire - A Game of Thrones
My ultimate guide to Dothraki culture, religion, and history begins with the question "where did the Dothraki come from?" They do have an origin that predates their presence on the Dothraki sea, and to uncover it, we'll follow the twin trails of historical / physical evidence and religious / mythological evidence. Plenty of Essosi history, plenty of Dany and Drogo, and even Great Empire of the Dawn mythology included as well!

Euron's Plan to Trick Victarion & Claim a Dragon - Winds of Winter Predictions - Song of Ice & Fire
How does the dragonbinder really work? We know "all Euron's gifts are poisoned," so it's obviously some sort of trick and trap to ensnare Victarion, but how is that going to work? How does giving Vic the dragonbinder and sending him to Meereen lead to Euron claiming a dragon? Which dragon, and where? I have answers to all of these questions with a new Winds of Winter Predictions theory! It's a trap, Victarion, don't blow that thing!

Helaena, Daenerys, Euron, Quaithe - Glass Candle Theories - Song of Ice & Fire - House of the Dragon
Rumors that Helaena or others could be using glass candles on House of the Dragon Season 3 gave me a good reason to hit you with my best glass candle theories, plus an exploration of their powers, both known and suspected. Did the Targaryens use them on Dragonstone & how does a candle explain the Dornish Letter mystery? Is Euron using a candle to corrupt people like Leyton Hightower or Daenerys? What will Dany see with the glass candle Marwyn the Mage is surely bringing her? How is Starry Wisdom Cult using the candles to enact their agenda? Are glass candles keeping the ghosts of the Great Empire of the Dawn alive somehow??? A brand new Winds of Winter predictions theory here too!

How & Why Egg Burned Down Summerhall - A Song of Ice and Fire - Dunk and Egg - Game of Thrones
What was "King Egg" (a.k.a. Aegon V) trying to do at Summerhall, and why did it go so horribly wrong? Those are the questions I'll answer, covering both the well-established Summerhall theories as well as some new ideas I am bringing to the table. Explosive dragon's eggs, visions of the Prince That Was Promised, kingsblood, wildfire, and potential maester conspiracy, plus a new find for the "Dunk held the sand-door at Summerhall" theory, it's all here.

Rickon & the Skagosi Will Destroy House Frey - Winds of Winter Predictions - A Song of Ice an Fire
Finally, a satisfying theory (with heavy foreshadowing) for what George Martin is going with Rickon's story! Since Rickon is a child, George has based parts of Rickon's plot on children's stories - Where the Wild Things are and Three Billygoats Gruff - and these stories also foreshadow this endgame! Walder Frey is a bridge troll, Skagos is an island of monsters who ride goats.. come inside and  @GreyWasteTim  (https://studio.youtube.com/channel/UC2RR4nHNxBSFQT8OjT9pcLw) and I will explain!

He was once a Targaryen prince, and was once offered the crown... and he's been waiting for the Prince That Was Promised for a very, very long time, discussing the prophecies and portents with everyone from Egg to Bloodraven to Rhaegar to Jon and Sam. The Weirwood Bones of Nagga / Grey King Greenseer Theory - A Song of Ice and Fire - Game of Thrones
Nagga's Bones, thought to be the fossilized ribcage of an ancient sea dragon, are in actuality the petrified weirwood ribbing of the Grey King's ship, which he flipped over and made into a magical longhall. In theory anyway - this is Grey King weirwood ark greenseer theory, at long last.
