Pinchas describes life in the ghetto during the occupation of Warsaw in 1940. During this time, his father made wine to make a living, and they did what they could to help others.
The author discusses his experience of Poland leading up to World War II and the occupation of Poland by the Nazis. There are so many restrictions placed upon Jewish people and Pinchas, Polish-looking, has to provide for his family and venture on to the streets where being Jewish is very dangerous.
