WWJD: What Would Jenny Do?
CW: discussion of rape, sexual violence & victim blaming.  When Brittney Higgins publicly acknowledged not only that she was raped but that the Liberal Government knew and covered it up, the country went into shock. And by the county we mean, a lot of cis men were vocally shocked. In this episode we discuss our infinite anger at a culture that seemingly refuses to hear victim survivors, the culture that perpetuates this behavior and the government that allows rape culture to thrive. 45% of the reports of sexual violence are flat out ignored. We need to foster a system that not only supports and empowers victim survivors but holds abusers and rapists accountable. Creating new laws to push for change will not work, especially when the laws that exist don’t protect us from rape. We must dismantle this capitalist, white supremist, patriarchal and colonial system – otherwise we are simply asking men for stuff. Please sign the petition and support the campaign to end the silence https://www.megaphone.org.au/petitions/end-the-silence-on-sexual-violence
