Leading with your heart and mind
The Sherpa

Welcome to the inaugural episode of Leading with your Heart & Mind podcast entitled "The Sherpa."  The Sherpa is a leader who helps climbers ascend Mt. Everest by applying the right blend of appropriate challenge to the aspiring climbers and support needed to achieve the grueling task.  Great leaders resemble a Sherpa.  They not only model "servant leadership" to support their teams but also have a keen understanding of individual's talents and appropriately challenge them with the right support to grow and develop.  This episode includes my thoughts and observations of over 20+ years as a direct leader, manager of managers and my current role leading an entire functional area as a third line leader.  Subsequent episodes will primarily consist of great leaders from the business, sports, and non-profit world sharing their leadership journeys and philosophies on leading people.  I hope you enjoy the episode.  If you have had the pleasure of interacting with great leaders, please submit suggestions for future guests you would like on the show.
