Episode 13 - All Of This Coping Was Killing Me, Now All Of This Healing Is Killing Me With Dr Gabrielle Pelicci

This episode features Dr Gabrielle Pelicci, Ph.D. She even says herself in the podcast that it's one of the things she does, not who she is! She is so much more than that, as are you.

In the podcast, she describes defining moments in her life that contribute to the layers of who she is today, including her childhood, a mystical experience when her mother passed away when she was 21, the importance of relating in order to heal & psychedelics. In particular, the subject of healing, as her book 'All Of this Healing Is Killing Me' had me reading it literally, whereas she has a unique perspective on what it meant to her. I personally put that title alongside Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD's ' The Body Keeps The Score' for best titles I've ever read.

Near to heart, the role women have played in our history as healers, how that was largely dismissed through the telling of stories through history, and how her dissertation seeked to inform and reilluminate spotlight onto this necessary part of who we are as a civilization stood out in both the podcast and her book.

Please enjoy the podcast and feel free to reach out to Gabrielle or myself if need be!

About Gabrielle: Gabrielle Pelicci, Ph.D. “Dr. Gabby” is Head of Provider Relations at Third Wave, a trusted, research-based psychedelics education and community platform.  Dr. Gabby completed her doctoral work in Transformative Studies at the California Institute of Integral Studies with a dissertation on women healers -- and studied plant medicine with indigenous healers in New Mexico and Guatemala. She has been a University Professor of Integrative and Holistic Medicine since 2007. Her first book, All This Healing is Killing Me, is available on Amazon. Episode 12 - The Illusions Of Life Solocast

This podcast is a story.

One of a close friend of mine and many of you going through a challenging life experience for which a few of us went to support him.

There, in addition to the many things that arose, connection, appreciation, support, brotherhood, patience, pause were all important.

What also became evident were at least 10 illusions that arose that I see in the ER, and in life, too, that everyone upholds more or less, until moments arise where the illusion dissolves.

Top 10 biggest illusions.

1. Tomorrow

2. Next breath

3. Health

4. Loved ones will be there

5. Functional faculties

6. Immortal

7. Eternal Time

8. Certainty

9. Who you think you are

10. Who you think you aren’t

Bonus; That You Know

Please, after listening, take some time to contemplate, digest and integrate some of what surfaces in this podcast. If it feels right, like, share, rate and subscribe.

I love you, please enjoy this podcast.

Episode 10 - Gents Union in Bala

This is a unique podcast, in that I had organized a men's gathering at my cottage after having hoped to connect with these high integrity men for over 3 years. We finally made it happen. 10 of us congregated and jumped on the podcast to discuss randomly chosen topics.

It veered into a discussion on traumas, the women in our lives, profound life lessons, medical realities, near death, love & what's on the horizon for masculinity, but most importantly, it highlighted the importance of spaces that men regularly can connect to alleviate the burdens they may carry.

Episode 9 - A Journey From Pain To Purpose With Grace With Nicolas Canon

Nicolas Canon is a man who is devoted to supporting humanity through many mediums. In person, groups, through medicine retreats. He is a great friend of mine and I even wrote the foreword for his First book ' Grace  - A Practical No Bullshit Journey From Pain to Purpose'.

Books like this are important, because they have you reflect on how you can incorporate more softness into your life. Every human serves to gain from connecting to the stories that once hurt them, and now lead their lives in surprisingly prevalent ways.

Episode 8 - Ampersand, Mental Health, & The Myth of Eternity With Erick Godsey

So many nuggets of gold in this episode with Erick Godsey. When I was listening to this again, I wrote down 74 different topics that we went through!

It was really important for us to touch on subjects that we both seek to support, address & help, including mental health, and how it is currently treated in a model that is discordant with the psyche and spirit of the individual. Maybe our pragmatic approach is completely inadequate to what is needed, yet completely in line to the times that we live.

He shares the story of the recent passing of his Dear friend. He decided to still do this podcast, and I am grateful that he honoured his friend with the consideration as well.

Episode 7 - Tasting the Wine of Life & Love with Fernando Borreda

This episode was with my dear friend Fernando Borreda. Hailing from Spain, we met at Burning Man in 2018.

Many conversations that you see online have silent gaps cut to optimize for time, but it's in those spaces that the share, the concept, the experiences are digested. Fernando embodies that, in real time. He 'does not just see the label, he taste's the wine'. He calls me out during the podcast as an invitation for everyone to consider when they are speaking from the mind, how to return back to the heart.

He shares his story of how this became apparent & undeniable for him, and how important pause to appreciate the simplicities of day to day, especially relational, improves the taste of life and the depth of love.

Ep 6 - Redefining the Why to Bear Any How in Life with Ryan Burkholder

Happy new year! This episode is with my brother, conscious curious osteopath by training Ryan Burkholder.

We discuss the significance of how life defining moments can be reevaluated, and how certain experiences can limit or liberate individuals. He vulnerably shared the story of the tragic and sudden passing of his best friend, and the burden that it brought, grief carried, until he began seeing the lesson and invitation, both from himself and from his best friend, not just imagined, but in every moment.

He redefined his WHY to bear any HOW, and he invites the same for you.

In particular, childhood abuse and the cataclysm resulting in the loss of vibrance in her life.

Solocast - Grandmother/Mahdar Bozorg & The Later Years of the Human Experience

A short solocast paying digital homage to her,
My grandmother Mahin 'Shahin' Keysar ,  is nearing passing.
A beautiful
transition, the most natural completion of the human life experience.
Her imminent passing is not without challenge. Her imminent passing, death, is also a celebration of her life, too.
Her life reminded me of how we treat those in the later years of life through many visits to the old age homes where she lived in.
Most curiously, easing their life experience is particularly effective by having points of reference from home.
She moved from Iran here in the 80s and though she came to this Beautiful country, points of reference trickled away. Home, environment, people, restaurants, streets, the simplicities.
Just moving from home to a retirement home can be a massive shift with loss of sense of home.
It can be challenging for them, and society can, rather than set them aside,  treat as valuable members of the community, invite their transition to the 'golden years' to be one where their autonomy, and wisdom is shared, and gratitude given.

We, you, me, will be there, ourselves, one day.

Consider reading Atul Gawande - Being Mortal for a deeper dive into this.

We Love You Shahin Joon.❤️

Was it difficult for you to mourn the passing of your grandparent?

Ep 4 - The Near Death Wake Up Call With Hannah Kavoosi

This podcast was recorded with my sister, lawyer, Hannah Kavoosi.

She shares the story of her near death experience of an infection in her neck that evolved rapidly and she had to go in for emergency surgery. An inexplicable, yet undeniably crazy thing about it was that I dreamt about a family emergency that morning and I awoke to 5 missed calls on my phone!

Please enjoy this story, may it invite you back to appreciation for your health, and a reminder that no moment is guaranteed to anyone.

Ep 3 - Solo - Truth Emerges Through Spoken & Written Thought Streams

In this episode, I go into two methods of connecting deeper to your truth. Interestingly, truth emerges by connecting intentionally, patiently and attentively to what wants to come forward.

Your mind is wired to have thoughts, not hold onto them. In doing so, your thoughts have a tendency to detangle, the weight sheds and greater clarity emerges, when they are expressed through lips & through pencil tips.

The thought dump is an unfiltered, practice of expressing and giving permission to yourself and your inner stream of consciousness by speaking or writing what’s on your mind, on your heart. Often, as was the case that Tristan from Episode 1 invited before, the sheer act of creating the space to speak it, a voice comes forth with depth, meaning & reality.

You are here to vomit thoughts; or verbal diarrhea, which ever visual hammers it home the clearest. Either way, the 'mess' you purge, is the clarifying nourishment of truth and reality that you reap!

Make it a regular practice to tell the truth, first to yourself. That embodied connection that you cultivate to your truth creates the space to tell yourself and the World that may need to hear it, the hard, right, truthful thing.

Do it as though nobody will ever read this.

Please feel free to share this podcast with anyone you feel could hear some of this.

Thank you,

Kaveh Kavoosi, MD

Ep 1 - Trusting Your Speech Before Thinking It with Tristan De Montebello - Summer 2019

This podcast was recorded in Los Angeles California, summer 2019.

I was introduced to Tristan De Montebello, one of the duo of ultraspeaking.com. An incredible soul and human, we talk life and the power that is possible in speaking before thinking.

I experienced it myself with him and his co-founder Michael, who they reiterate and support people in both public speaking, but also learning to trust that the mind has an answer closer to something that is pronounced, impactful and accurate!

I even surprised myself at times going through the process, since the things coming through me felt unfiltered yet deeply connected to my heart. At times, when my mind would get  in the way again, I would fall short of the words. Their prompts were incredible at reorienting me and practicing methods to trust. Trust is the word, and trust is the opportunity.

I enjoyed this podcast and want to also note that prior to finalizing a name, I was consider this podcast to be ' Life After the Autopilot' but pivoted!

Ep 2 - Navigating Through Pain To Grace With Nicolas Canon (Fall 2020)

This podcast was recorded in October 2020 with Nicolas Canon.

We spoke on the origins of much of his awareness on the state and approach to the life experience, for which has profound truth and applicability to everyone's life.

He shares his journey, the foundations that invigorates his work and support of upholding integrity, depth and meaning in life. Coming to know Nico even more over the past 3 years, I have witnessed his commitment to this path, and the effect it has had on many people. Tattoos, medicine work, writing & coaching are some of the ways his art and connection to life manifests.
