NOTE: The schoolchildren’s responses can be hard to hear. Below is a transcription of each.

Kid 2: “Think their own way”

Kid 3: “Buy me an Atari.”

Kid 4: “I’d have everybody go swimming.”

Kid 5: “Have a feast.”

Kid 6: “I would have everybody to clean up the United States.”

Kid 7: “I’d give everybody a day off from school and from work.”

Kid 8: “I’d have them take off work and go swimming and um have a feast, play games and watch TV.”

Kid 9: “If I was President, I would have everyone take one day off.”

Kid 10: “Well, I’d try to make peace with the Russians and see if everyone could give up this nuclear power stuff, and we could all have peace, and there wouldn’t be any more wars.”

Kid 11: “e. r. a. …that’s the equal rights amendment pass”

Kid 12: “I’d make all the schools quit for the rest of their life.”

Kid 13: “I’d let all the boys and girls be president for one day,”

Kid 14: “I’d have two hours of school a day—one hour of recess. Half an hour would be lunch, where the buses would take you to the restaurant of your choice free. And the other half an hour would be school work.”

Kid 15: “If I was President for the day I would lower all the taxes … from the house to 50 cents and I would make cars for kids only one cent per piece.

Kid 16: “If I were President of the United States for one day, I would try to get together a committee to clean up all the big cities and get rid of pollution.”

Kid 17: “I think I would have no school anymore, and you only had to do the things that you wanted to do. There would be no daily chores or things like that.”

Kid 18: “We would have four hours of school and we could pick anything we wanted for lunch.”
