With over thirty years of culinary experience, spanning diverse locations Chef Jocelyn Myers-Adams is a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry. Currently, she manages her hospitality consulting and private cheffing business in additional to serving as the chairperson of the South African Chefs Association for the Western Cape. Trained at Stratford Chefs School – which has set the standard of excellence for culinary training in Canada – Chef Jocelyn emphasizes simplicity and quality products in her cooking philosophy. Her culinary journey includes working with renowned chefs like Jamie Kennedy and Gordon Ramsay, providing her with invaluable experiences in fine dining, sommelier services and cooking on private yachts. She has studied both food and wine extensively and considers herself a perpetual teacher and student of these subjects. “I am passionate about the culinary arts and the hospitality industry. I believe in setting high standards, strong work ethic and perseverance to achieve goals never losing that special creative flair”. Recognised for her diverse exposure from prestigious international events to foraging skills, Chef Jocelyn settled Cape Town in 2006, and has left her mark in reputable kitchens, relaunched Food and Beverage programs for 5-star hotels and worked at Executive Chef level to elevate the standards and skills of her teams. As a former board director of the South African Chefs Association committee, she continues to e an advocate for skills development and gender equality in the culinary industry, offering tailored solutions to a diverse clientele, including restaurants, hotels and eventing companies. In her current role as Director of Food Jams, Chef Jocelyn, along with her partner Jade de Waal, leads a successful hospitality business with a focus on sustainability, cultural identity and community collaboration. The duo is set to establish the Food Jams Culinary Academy of South Africa (CASA) dedicated to fostering culinary excellence, sustainability and cultural preservation. Food Jams, founded in Cape Town in 2010, creates unforgettable team-building experiences through collaborative cooking. These engaging sessions are expertly led by the skilled Food Jams Team. Born to two agricultural labourers in Pniel during the harsh Dop system, Denise has spent the past 22 years transforming South Africa’s wine industry, empowering vineyard workers into business owners. Thokozani now produces award-winning wines and operates a 4-star guesthouse, managed by the very women who once worked the land. Her leadership has been recognised with the 2022 Transformation and Diversity Award (Groot Constantia), South Africa’s Leader of the Year (FEDHASA 2024), the Standard Bank Top Women Leadership Award (2024), and international recognition as a Top Women Entrepreneur in Agriculture and Tourism (Florida, USA 2019). Under the spotlight with Anderson Carvalho: Dance Intersect 2025 at Artscape
Meet Anderson Carvalho from Dance & Choreography (ACDC) is an independent, emerging and creation-based contemporary dance foundation from the Netherlands, founded by the Brazilian-Dutch choreographer Anderson Carvalho. The foundation is dedicated to artistic creation, research, socio-artistic empowerment, collaboration, innovation and cultural understanding internationally through dance. Their aim is to offer unique experiences in dance that inspire an open and safe space for co-creation, questioning and dialogue.   Carvalho began his studies in dance at a social dance project situated in the Favelas (townships) of Fortaleza, Brazil. He furthered his studies for two years at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He holds a Master degree in Arts, Choreography, a joint-degree by Codarts University of Arts and Fontys University in the Netherlands.   Anderson has been actively involved in the world of social dance projects in Cape Town in the past as a volunteer Choreographer for Dance For All from 2013 till 2022 and has performed with Dance For All on the main stage of the Baxter Dance Festival on several occasions.   Anderson Carvalho was the Jury Chairman at the Korea International Contemporary Dance Competition 2020 and used to be the choreographer and artistic director for the Corpo Mudança Dance Company in Fortaleza, Brazil. Produced by South Africa’s own Elvis Sibeko, Dance Intersect 2025 is an initiative by internationally acclaimed choreographer Anderson Carvalho, the Netherlands-based founder of Anderson Carvalho Dance and Choreography (ACDC), and transcends borders to unite audiences and artists alike through the universal language of dance. Cape Town is gearing up to pulse to the rhythm of a global dance dialogue as  ACDC Dance Intersect 2025  takes centre stage in early October. A cross-cultural celebration of classical and contemporary ballet, this landmark event brings together international and South African dance companies for an unforgettable series of performances from 2 – 4 October at Artscape Theatre. Ahneesh (Taare Dance) with Janet
Ahneesh Valodia is the founder, artistic director, and resident choreographer of Taare, a Cape Town-based Indian dance troupe known for its dynamic fusion of Bollywood, classical, and contemporary dance. A self-taught Bollywood dancer and trained Kathak artist, Ahneesh has spent over a decade using performance as a platform for cultural expression, youth development, and storytelling. Despite being diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy in his teens, he transitioned from performer to choreographer, continuing to lead with creativity and passion from behind the scenes. Under his direction, Taare has staged 11 original productions, including Kismet, a bold Bollywood reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet, captivating audiences locally and globally.
