Revive Your Spark E85
Ep85 – Recently, I started feeling off but couldn’t pinpoint why. Within a short period of time, I was experiencing anxiety attacks and knew I had to call the doctor. After consulting with my regular doctor, naturopath and therapist, I’m starting to feel better, but it’s made me question how much I’ve been doing. After taking time to reassess, I’ve realized I need to cut way back. I feel my mission is too important to completely take the summer off, so, instead, I’m scaling back my efforts to 20%. In this process, I’ve decided to rebuild that 20% from scratch.   I know I’m not alone because so many artists have shared with me that they are overwhelmed or burnt out. Just like me, they can’t keep up their current pace. Something has to change. So, part of that 20% is determining how to help this amazing community of artists. What I’ve been teaching for the past several years is incredibly valuable, and I don’t want to give it up, so I’ve been working on a simplified version that not only teaches you how to have a distinctive voice but how to simplify your own art career and revive your spark.  Listen in to learn more about my upcoming workshop series and why you don’t want to miss it! >> To register for the Revive Your Spark Workshops, click here: https://theartistmarket.co/spark-workshops/ >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> Visit Jessica’s website at www.TheArtistMarket.co >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @‌artistmarketco.

“Do I need to create a stronger online presence to reach my art business goals?” - Agnes Russo E84
Ep84 – Agnes Russo is a contemporary abstract artist living in Dallas, Texas. Her art is an invitation to stop, relax and recharge in this crazy, busy life. She uses a loose technique with water and acrylics that allows the art to reveal it’s own story of peace and serenity. This past year has been an eye-opening experience for Agnes. She has developed a deeper understanding of what she wants to express with her art, and she has been able to use this understanding to connect with more buyers, especially at in-person events. However, Agnes is trying to have a stronger online presence and is looking to bridge the significant gap between her online sales and her in-person events. She knows social media can be a useful tool for artists, but she struggles to allow herself to be vulnerable with her audience after a difficult online experience. Listen in as we get to the heart of what Agnes really wants and discuss the best way for her to get there. >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @‌artistmarketco. “What art sales strategy can I use to boost my revenue?” - Jessica Singerman E83
Ep83 – Jessica Singerman is a multidisciplinary artist and an outdoor athlete whose work is highly informed by the time she spends outdoors. Her work is all about connecting with people in that slower space and taking responsibility for the changes in the environment. Two years ago, Jessica took a full-time teaching position in the school of film at a local university, a change that greatly impacted her art business. While she loved her teaching job, the additional income lessened the pressure to sell her work, and that lack of pressure had a two-faceted effect. On the one hand, the amount of work Jessica sold was greatly reduced, and that meant that her studio was filling up with unsold pieces. On the other hand, she was able to give herself some grace creatively, exploring different media and techniques she had always wanted to try. The latter allowed her to hone skills that improved her practice. Overall, the last two years have been a positive experience for Jessica, but she’s ready to get back to selling more of her work. Her biggest problem seems to be generating leads. She knows how to move forward with the sale once someone expresses interest, but she’s considering hiring someone to help get her to that point. Listen in as we talk through a strategy that will help Jessica get back to selling more work.

“How can I achieve clarity to succeed at my art business goals?” - Robyn Ready Voth E82
Ep82 – Robyn Ready Voth is a portrait painter who captures the milestone events of life in heirloom paintings. She has seen many changes in her art down through the years, and due to her diligence as a student, she regularly takes her art to a new level. As Robyn’s knowledge of art has grown, so has her understanding of why she creates, revealing the reasons behind her work as the years have passed. Robyn learned that before she could connect with others, she had to learn to connect with herself. She did so through meditation, which also allowed her to define the mission that she desires to serve. Robyn loves connecting one on one with people and strives to encourage and help them find their place, adding value to their lives by defining what is most important to them. This led Robyn to create heirloom paintings. Her paintings capture the defining and pivotal events in life that are important to save for future generations. At this point in her master’s program, Robyn is trying to define her plan, not only for her artmaking but for herself as well. She is currently looking for an execution partner, or accountability partner to hold her to her goals. However, finding the right person is proving to be tricky due to scheduling conflicts. Listen in as we talk through the value of introspection, building our energy and holding ourselves accountable while I give Robyn some actionable tips on following through with her plan. >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @‌artistmarketco. "What are more affordable ways to reach a wider audience with my art?" - Denise Lafer E81
Ep81 – Denise Lafer is an artist who uses multiple different media in her work. She wants to get her work in front of more people and create a community, but finding the time to do so while working full-time and raising two small children has been difficult. Denise dreams of building an art business that will replace her day job so she has more time to spend with those she loves. It intimidates Denise when she hears people say you have to build a website, develop your own brand and do so many other things before you can put yourself out there. The fear of overinvesting in all these things and getting ahead of herself have been a roadblock for Denise. And she says, honestly, she doesn’t know how to get her work in front of a bigger audience without making that investment first. Recently, Denise started doing occasional workshops to put herself out there in a less intimidating way. The feedback she’s received and satisfaction she’s experienced have been a boost to her confidence, and she’s even started applying to open calls for art by galleries. Listen in as I help Denise with a strategy to build a community and work towards creating a full-time income with her art business. >> For information on working with Jessica, send your questions/thoughts here: https://theartistmarket.co/contact/ >> For more practical and energetic strategies to create consistent income and life balance, follow me on Instagram @‌artistmarketco. Ep80 – Chanelle Jefferson is a blind contour artist, meaning she draws without looking at the canvas. She is a storyteller and drawer first and a painter second. Her journey as an artist began by processing her own trauma and pain, which then became storytelling through her experiences and transmuting her pain into artwork and light. Chanelle also takes commissions to tell the stories of other people who resonate with her work. Chanelle is also trained as a counselor and an energy, mind and emotions practitioner. Not only does she work with people one on one, but she also offers retreats with the goal of helping participants get to the root of their work and move beyond what triggers them and holds them back. Chanelle’s business continues to grow, but with growth comes the need to expand your team. "How do I define who I am as an artist and write an elevator speech?" - Maura Kealy Ogden E78
Ep78 – Maura Kealy Ogden is an artist and collector of images and other things. She paints fine art but is diving into her new business of creating collage pieces using found objects. Maura enjoys the experience of creating and loves to share it with people. That is why she tells stories with her art. The dilemma for Muara lies in how to merge her two passions, creating fine art and creating collage pieces, and figuring out the best way to brand her art business. Ep75 – Debbie Downey is a professional face painter and balloon twister who has recently moved into doing murals. Debbie has been creating murals for children’s spaces and small businesses, so thus far her art has been more about who she’s making it for than about the art itself. Debbie says she is still taking whatever comes her way but would love to have the financial freedom to turn jobs down if they don’t feel aligned with her vision. Right now, she is working toward making more money per commissioned mural as well as getting away from working nights and weekends. "As a hobby artist, how do I attract buyers to increase sales?" - Kristine Hurd E74
Ep74 – Kristine Hurd is a mixed media artist from Saskatchewan who works with alcohol ink and enjoys fluid experimenting. She works full time outside of the home and paints for fun in her spare time. Kristine isn’t looking to turn her art into a full-time income, but she knows she must sell it to continue to do the thing that she loves. Being a very prolific painter, she faces the challenges of limited space and the cost of purchasing supplies. Even though Kristine has a marketing degree, as an artist, she feels social media can be all-consuming. Because she paints for herself, Kristine feels that there isn’t really a story behind her art. Not knowing the story behind her art keeps Kristine from being able to identify who her target audience is. This makes it more challenging and tedious to come up with content for social media. "How will I know when to take my ideas from exploration to the execution phase?" - Nikkita Cohoon E72
Ep72 – Nikkita Cohoon is a designer and multimedia artist who makes vibrant artwork with lots of mark making that feels like a chatty conversation. She started her own brand design business in 2013, which she has loved doing, but is now working full-time in a position that allows her to use more of her creative inspiration for her own work. Nikkita is passionate about creating rituals in life, not just following a routine, and through her classes and workshops she focuses on helping other artists do the same. Nikkita believes in being in tune with the seasons of your body and mind and not pushing yourself to stay busy when you need to rest and settle. Being a firm believer in staying grounded through rituals, Nikkita focuses on actions that are aligned with her current state and feel good for her. Lately, she has been in a resting or “wintering” phase, exploring the inspired ideas she has collected for several months, looking for little nudges that will help her decide when to take action on her evolving ideas.
