Kala Masters stops in the Hotzone to talk about new music, her journey and what's coming next.

Kala Masters – Artist Bio

With influences from across the music spectrum, Kala Masters is impossible to compare. Bold and unique, her creative melodies and genre-blending style are establishing a new sound in electro-pop and alternative hip-hop. Authentically original, her soulful songs offer smooth rhythms to soothe the body, mind, and spirit. Her ethereal vocals mix with metro booming bass, resulting in a powerful and intriguing sound. Based in Round Rock, Texas near the Austin music scene, she is ushering in a revolutionary sound and breaking from the status quo.

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Kala Masters learned to play the piano in elementary school. Soon after, Kala began singing too. She was highly interested in R&B and hip-hop melodies and found inspiration in female vocalists like Rihanna and Beyonce for their strong voices in the industry. In high school, Kala began writing her own songs and sharing them with her friends. Influenced by Lana Del Rey, her style developed with an electro-pop vibe, making her songs unique. She gained experience performing at local venues and even appeared on a Snake Saturday Parade float, singing for crowds at this Kansas City area St. Patrick’s Day tradition. Working with a producer in a professional studio, Kala recorded her first album. Putting a major project together was challenging, but the music was fun. Although it may seem like a hobby, Kala treated it like a job and devoted herself to learning through the process. Her sound evolved, utilizing unique dance aspects. Highly versatile, her music is appealing to a wide array of audiences. Released on her EP, 12:34, the alternative-dance hit, “Million Grand,” was featured on various radio stations including 96.5 The Buzz Alternative, 90.9 Alternative, 105.9 Kiss FM, and more. From the same project, her upbeat, fun, and empowering pop song, “I Don’t Need You,” gained nearly 50k listens.

Interested in many subjects, Kala Masters remains focused on her education. In 2015, she attended The University of Central Missouri to complete a 2-year program with a concentration in production, music technology, and audio engineering. With several fields of interest, she is now going to school for nursing, balancing her creative work and continuing education. Extensive knowledge allows her to open unique aspects in her songs. Anything she studies for a length of time ends up in her music. The themes for her lyrics are pulled from the natural world, and Kala Masters draws inspiration from the beach, the planet, and outer space. Of both Native American and Scottish descent, she comes from a diverse cultural background, which is also incorporated into her creative work. She is highly aware of an artist’s ability to take their culture, knowledge, and art to spread awareness on issues like educating women and children in developing countries. She uses her own music to translate culture and embrace others. Through her work and travels, she is reaching people of different backgrounds and making deep human connections. She travels often in a never-ending effort to expand and explore.

Alluring, unique, and bold, Kala Masters is empowering audiences with her vibrantly funky vibes and fun energy. With proper promotion and a dedicated team behind her, she is building a greater fanbase and reaching a wider audience. Kala is taking her work to the next level and is currently preparing her second career album for release. Filled with a strong work ethic and highly motivational energy, she encourages others to pursue whatever they are passionate about. It is possible to make anything happen for yourself. It might be challenging, but if you truly want it and work hard enough, you’ll find that luck is always there. It is possible, and you will get it!

Country Born, City Raised, Ran Blacc stops through to chat about his new single, “Life Guard”.
BIO Country Born, City Raised! Although he was born in Richmond, Kentucky, Randy Black II (aka Ran Blacc) grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada from the tender age of five. An R&B and Hip Hop head since his childhood, Ran Blacc idolized his father’s band "The Techniques,” and as a teen he spent many hours helping his father DJ for his karaoke company "Step To The Mic"; thus building his love of all genres of music. Randy Black attended UNLV where he excelled as both a student, and an athlete. While studying criminal justice and sociology, he also had a hugely successful football career. Never neglecting his first love, Randy continued making music as his hobby. After searching for a way to help propel young student athletes to succeed, Randy founded the first branch of his non-profit organization. Named "Team Black and Blue Athletics,” it focused on teaching and training athletes to excel as students off and on the field. While working hard to make a differences a mentor, coach and educator, Ran Blacc also sought to find his niche in the entertainment industry. Combining talents with his older cousin T.O. Terrell (aka Tmite), the two started WarrHogg Records. After 4 years of underground music, Ran Blacc started his own music company named "Real Musiq Entertainment"; beginning his experience as promoter, party and CEO while throwing showcases across the Las Vegas valley. These experiences would later lead to him linking up with business partner Phil So (aka SooPhilthy), and changing the company name to "Crown Republik Entertainment." CRE was founded with hopes of discovering many new business avenues such as: modeling, clothing design, merch, party promoting, graphic design, party hosting, song writing, and production thru a family networking system created for the betterment of all involved. This mindset then led to the creation of Crown Republik Entertainment LLC, including Crown Music, (The Record Label) Crown Republik South (The Division In the South USA), Its da' Crown Recording Studios, Crown Republik Ent Clothing And Apparel, Crown Graphix and lastly Its' Da' Crown Radio thus equipping himself with the tools to set forth to spread a different form of HIP HOP culture and business. Ran Blacc’s goal is to bring forth the type of HIP HOP he himself grew up immersed in! Many say his music has a Las Vegas/Bay area feel, mixed with a little southern gentleman and a whole lot of R&B! His ambition has no limit and his drive no end; a true gentle giant, a real man’s man, creative and intelligent, Ran Blacc’s success is eminent. Alternative Rock or Conscious Hip Hop, St. Louis, Mo very own Daemon speaks on it in the Hotzone
You’ll never be the one like me,” Daemon sings with swagger on his latest track, “Speak on It.” He’s earned that swagger. With help from platinum-selling, Grammy-winning producer Jayson “KoKo” Bridges and fellow BLK Breakfast artist Zech Biship, Daemon’s latest is a unique evolution of melody and flow, deep low end and high-minded production — futuristic sounds that never lose their soul. It’s the latest from an artist who is living proof that you can adapt, evolve and expand and still get heads nodding. Sometimes Daemon weaves heartfelt stories, like on the single “Letter to My Best Friend,” a track that turned isolation into inspiration. Other times he spits with speed and agility over old school soul breaks, like on “Feel Good,” a track so righteous Bernie Sanders used it as his walk-out music. Then when you least expect it, he’s inventing a new genre like grunge-trap on “The Bad Time” single and Gifted EP. Other times his tracks are so hype they just have to be in a video game, like “Turn the World Around,” featured in XBox exclusive Forza Horizon 5. Daemon has also collaborated with Killer Mike and Trackstar the DJ from Run the Jewels, DJ Shadow and more. His work has been featured on Netflix (“Inventing Anna,” “Daybreak” and “Work It”), FOX (“Ghosted”), Starz (“Power”), ads for Mini Cooper and Sephora, and TBS (on the Jordan Peele produced “The Last O.G.”).

Produce, Engineer, artist G!ft stops by to talk to us about his new music, whats next and the meaning behind his name.

G!ft

G!ft is an artist, producer, engineer and talent manager with a strong, confident persona that gets

showcased in his intriguing lyrics, captivating sound and a discography large enough to show for it. This

Chicago native from the south side of Chicago has already received tremendous support from his wide

spread audience in the states from the east to the west and has every intention to keep expanding his

reach across global audiences.

His talents and experiences, coupled with his willingness to be honest, vulnerable and expressive about

how his day to day decisions impact his quality of life drive his vision and mission to not only make music

he enjoys but to make music his peers can relate to as well. He addresses topics on abstract thoughts on

the the ego, pride, women and the high risk attitude urban kids have as a result of not having resources

to better their own social-economic standing.

His music is about promoting unity and self awareness, and when asked what genre he would place

himself under, He mentioned “I experiment with a variety of sounds, but I would consider myself R&B

and Hip Hop with soulful undertones.” Which all makes sense when you look at who he gets his

inspiration from. His list consists of legendary artists such as Bob Marley, Chicago's very own Kanye west,

Kid Cudi, Future, Strap The Fool, Skooly, Young Buck, and Party Next Door.

This promising musician has a vision to use his influence that comes with the artistry to bring people

together and is definitely someone to look out for in the industry.

From relaxing jazzy vibes with a touch of funk and soul, Neika Simone brings angelic vocals to audiences worldwide.

The angelic and melodic voice Neika Simone hails from the beautiful city Kings Mountain, NC. She has had a love for music nearly her entire life. Her very name “Simone” was given to her by her parents who were inspired by the dynamic Nina Simone. Neika Simone started singing, as did many artists, in her hometown church’s youth choir. Her parents took notice of her interest in music and enrolled her in piano lessons at the age of 7. That was a wise move as music would become a driving force in her life. Neika Simone became a classically trained pianist and vocalist and began writing music as a teenager.

Upon high school graduation, Neika Simone attended Elizabeth City State University where she earned a B.A. degree in Music (piano). She later attended Norfolk State University and graduated with a Master of Music Education degree (voice).

Over the years, Neika Simone’s love for jazz grew. She was inspired most by the phenomenal Ella Fitzgerald and many of her contemporaries. As she continued to develop her skills, she began performing with bands such as Left Turn Right Dance Band and Fouray. It was during that time she found her place in the sounds of smooth jazz and began to sing and write music for this genre. Neika Simone’s song lyrics are inspired by her experiences, future hopes, and desires. Currently, Neika Simone is not only a songwriter and performer; she is also a music teacher who enjoys teaching chorus, voice and piano. She and her husband reside in the Richmond, Virginia area.

Albright’s latest single “Dishonest Smile” is currently climbing the Smooth Jazz and R&B/Soul charts! But this is not her first successful hit. 2010 Jazz single “You and I” was one of iTunes’ Top 100 Jazz Downloads. Her 2013 EP “Brighter” topped the UK Soul Chart for four weeks straight, and her 2016 Jazz single “Sun Comes Up” would prime the market for her 2017 debut R&B/Soul CD “Conversations,” which put Selina Albright’s music on the map internationally. In recent years, she released multiple original chart climbers such as “Discovering," “Holding On," "Jenny (Perfect Little Rows)," and "Dishonest Smile." Under her belt are a number of notable collaborative projects and vocal features across many genres. You’ll hear her recorded with artists like Gerald Albright, Andrae Crouch, Peter White, Dave Koz, Rick Braun, David Benoit, Lin Rountree, Willie Bradley, David P. Stevens, and Jonathan Butler. Aside from these, the artist has also joined forces with Electronic Dance Music DJs like Manufactured Superstars, Forcing Function, and Vinnie Maniscalco, demonstrating yet another facet to her creativity, and the world has responded strongly. Even more notable than her recording credits is her extensive international performance history. She has traveled the world on her solo tours, and also shared the stage with a long list of artists: pianists Jeff Lorber, George Duke, Joe Sample, Brian Culbertson, and Keiko Matsui; guitarists Peter White, Nick Colionne, and Adam Hawley; bassists Marcus Miller and Gerald Veasley; saxophonists Gerald Albright, Maceo Parker, David Sanborn, Kirk Whalum, Steve Cole, Boney James, Jeff Kashiwa, Eric Darius, and Candy Dulfer; flautist Althea Rene; trumpeters Hugh Masekela, Rick Braun, and Ilya Serov; bands Pieces of a Dream, The Pact, and Four80East; and vocalists Chaka Khan, Will Downing, Eric Roberson, Regina Belle, Algebra Blessett, Lindsey Webster, Tony Momrelle, Aubrey Logan, Maysa, and The Temptations. Next for Albright are many more collaborations, solo releases, delicious food adventures, and a compelling new music video for “Dishonest Smile!”
