We are back with our first episode of 2025!
Work has been done and decisions have been made. Movies You Might Have Missed, has been relegated to a segment rather than an episode. It is our opinion that most of our audience will want mainly Asian film content, and always something from Hong Kong. So this will be our focus going forward.
Direction has had some careful consideration. So, the main episodes will lead into the following episodes. We will cover a film then on the next episode, the follow up will have a link to the previous film, whether it be director, actor or theme. The same will apply to the "Beyond" segment.
So where will we start this never-ending filmic journey? We begin with Ann Hui's, Boat People 投奔怒海 starring, George Lam and Season Ma, who are joined by Andy Lau and Cora Miao. A talented cast for this New Wave drama.

First up is, The Last Blood, a Heroic Bloodshed actioner starring Alan Tam and Andy Lau. This one is directed by Wong Jing and was also known as, Hard Boiled 2 in the UK. The second film is the mega smash hit and critically acclaimed, The Last Dance, directed by Anselm Chan. This film features an impressive cast, led by Dayo Wong and Michael Hui. We are back in time for Halloween! Two movies for the season of horror... but have we made an error in judgement?
Firstly we take a look at the Stephy Tang starring film, Somewhere Beyond the Mist 藍天白雲 (2017). A film about a daughter who commits parracide.
Then we take a look at a film which stars and is directed by, Nick Cheung. Hungry Ghost Ritual 盂蘭神功 (2014) - a more traditional Hong Kong style ghost movie.

Firstly we look at 1987 film No Way Out which stars Gene Hackman and Kevin Costner. We can't wait to talk about the ending twist in the spolier section!
We then move onto 1989 Hong Kong film Spy Games. This film gave us a much needed Hong Kongness boost! And Leon discusses a new entry into his top 10 Hong Kong actors list!
As usual we discuss the films, the directors and some of the cast members along with anything else that pops into our minds as we chat!

In this episode we go Beyond and look at Eureka's release of Sweet Bean, a sweet Japanese drama with a harsh reality check thrown in for good measure! We loved this 2015 film and we hope if you haven't seen it already that our discussion sparks your interest in tracking down a copy!
We also look at 1973 Jack Nicholson film The Passenger, released by Indicator. This film kept us on our toes! We really enjoyed covering this 70s classic.

The new Anson Lo movie is hitting UK cinemas thanks to our good friends over at CineAsia UK. It's at UK cinemas from 3rd November. The Mirror superstar is joined by Summer Chan and Shaw Legend, David Chiang, in this supernatural tale.
