Keeping Kids Safe on Cell Phones (Episode #172) with Bill Brady CEO @Troomi Wireless
Parenting cell phone use can be super overwhelming. I am a mom of 7 kids, and this has been quite the challenge for us. I learned a lot of good and bad things with my older kids, and have made some changes for my younger kids. Putting a device into the hands of your kids can be a terrifying thing. Making sure we were all on the same page and that they were taught proper usage, manners, expectations, and safety has helped us avoid a lot of frustration and angry moments. I loved recording this episode of our podcast with guest: Bill Brady, CEO of Troomi Wireless. I applaud Bill and his mission to keep kids safe on their cell phones while keeping relationships good with their parents. He also gave us a very generous coupon code to share with you!! Plant Based Eating: the What's, the Why's & the How's (Episode #170) with Ali Essig
After having my 7th baby (which was nearly 6 years ago), I just couldn’t get a handle on my health. My blood pressure was high, the weight wasn’t coming off like it had after baby #6, my energy was low and my other numbers weren’t looking great. I was very caught up in being busy with my baby and other 6 kids. I was busy building Helping of Happiness, the pandemic hit, I sent a daughter to college, then on a mission, then a son on a mission. It seemed the hamster wheel never stopped and I wasn’t taking time for myself. My aunt has been eating plant based for years, and every time we talked, I felt these nudges that I should try it. I just never felt like I could commit to it with everything else in my life. About a year ago, I started doing “Tackle it Tuesdays” with some friends. The lifestyles we were striving for felt too big and overwhelming, but we felt we could do it one day a week! No problem!! It was great support and my numbers did improve a little, but not enough. A few months ago I ran into a class Ali Essig was giving at the Thriving Mothers Summit, all about Plant Based Eating. That nudge was back and even stronger than before. I decided it was time to jump in with both feet. I’ve been working on plant based eating now for over 2 months and it has been so good for me. I feel so much better than I did. I’m learning a lot, stumbling plenty, feel like much healthier, sometimes frustrated, happier in my own skin, and it’s something I want to stick with the rest of my life. I know this may not be for everybody. But if you are feeling those nudges like I was, or feel you need a change, maybe this episode is just what you need. Here are the What’s, the Why’s and the How’s of plant based eating.

Finding the Humor in Mom Life (Episode #169) with Megan Whitmer
Sometimes being a mom is just HARD!!! It gets to the point where you can either laugh about it, or cry about it. And while I do shed my share of tears over my kids, I would much rather laugh! This is one reason I love Megan Whitmer. She has written a book for moms all about how to find the humor in motherhood. On today’s podcast, we talk with her about what made her want to write her book, how we can find ways to look on the bright side, and remember that we are daughters of God and don’t have to compare ourselves to society and the crazy trends happening there. Powerful Influence of Meaningful Decor (Episode #168)
“How can I inspire my family without being in their face?” Isn’t this a great question to ask ourselves?! I often feel like the family nag- reminding, lecturing and trying to help everyone reach their highest potential. What I learned from Candace Hafen (owner and creator of Lemon Drops N Lilies- Home Decor Shop) on our podcast today, was that we can inspire our family members by the things we keep in our homes. Beautiful artwork, quotes hanging in frames, messages on throw pillows, pictures of our family in meaningful moments, can be brought back to our minds years down the road when we need those reminders most. Come join us in creating more intentional decor for our homes!! Learn why Candace says, “What’s on my walls matters.”

Be the Match to Save a Life: Bone Marrow Transplants (Episode #166)
Tanya Christensen’s son, Dylan, needed some blood work done for an oral surgery he needed to have. Tanya and her family were shocked to find out that his white blood count was extremely low when the labs came back. They had to postpone the oral surgery and had to do more testing to see what was going on with Dylan. Sadly, Dylan was diagnosed with MDS: myelodysplastic syndrome, a form of blood cancer. Chemo or radiation weren’t an option for fighting this type of cancer, they would have to rely on a bone marrow transplant. On this week’s podcast, you will hear more details of the Christensen’s story, what different steps they have had to take to find a bone marrow match, and how you can register to be a bone marrow donor. Donating bone marrow is a painless service, it’s similar to giving blood. To register to be a bone marrow donor, you just need to swab your cheek, and mail the lab kit back to Be the Match. It is incredible opportunity to save a life!!

52 Modern Manners - Building Confidence in Teens (Episode #165)
Are you sometimes shocked as a parent that your teens and even their friends are with out the social norms you feel should be there? Today’s guest, Brooke Romney, started to notice her kids and the other teenagers around her needed help with simple etiquette, such as saying “hello” and “thank you” to someone who was giving them a ride somewhere. She came up with this fantastic flip book with 52 different manners that will empower teens to be their best selves and have confidence as they maneuver through life situations. Our family has been using this book for several months, and it has brought about the best conversations with our kids about how to handle themselves in different situations they find themselves in. I loved talking with Brooke on our podcast and learning even more about why she created this resource and how it can make our families and communities stronger.
