Brandon and John discus all the ins and outs of life over the last few months. The ups and downs and what in the world is going on in the world. It's getting crazy out there and we want to talk about some of it with out spin as well. It's been a long time so we hope you guys enjoy!
Brandon and John sit down and discuss all the main topics of discussion that have been raging at the kitchen table over the last month. From the alien whistle blowers in Congress to the beginning of the football season, we hit it all.
Brandon is taking over the roll of host and will be taking the Grunts in Appalachia into the future. With his love for everything veteran, stand by for some great guests and his infantry veteran style of humor.
On to new things!
Brandons 45th birthday has come and gone but that doesn't mean we didn't celebrate. We set up at our buddy Paul's house and setup the podcast equipment under the canopy for the poolside of the party.
Grilling was going down all day and so was the pop shots at different branches, we had all military branches covered at this party minus the Coast Guard.
Jennifer sat down with us to discus her life in the Air Force. Retiring just a couple years ago, Jennifer achieved the rank of Chief Master SGT and lived all over the world in her career.
As always good times and lots of fun were had by all.
Hey Hey we made it! Episode 100 and it has everything that the Grunts in Appalachia have ever done! There's a crazy story time about the festivities that took place while Brandon was on Vacation in Lake of the Ozarks. It just so happens that two of his compadres that were there at the lake were also on this episode. Introducing Paul and Travis both veterans, Paul a retired Army First Sgt. Travis served in the Air Force. Both add not only some clarity but also some flare to the stories of their feats at the lake.
In Walks Dave Denning, a repeat offender on the show. Dave opens up on the second half and really talks about the vaccines, hospital shortages the mask mandates and hospital policies. It was pretty cool to hear about these things from a doctor that now sees things differently looking in hind sight.
Lots of laughs and some interesting topics are covered on this episode.
Welcome back ya'll! This week Gorgeous George and Brandon sit down and talk about the weather. Not really though. We have a discussion about war in movies and what happened to the good ones. Where did a good war movie go? Gorgeous George talks about his train wreck of a weekend while Brandon was staying dry playing Call of Duty. The topics move around and land on motorcycles, riding, and safety or lack there of. We hope you all enjoy episode 99 and get ready for episode 100, it should be a big one! Stay safe out there this memorial day! Grunts In Appalachia out!
Gorgeous George and John sit down in Boots Spirits and Feed, an awesome country western bar in downtown Huntington, WV.
Topics of disscussion were a little more on the serious note this week with some jumbled humor. There's so much going on in the world it's hard not to talk about the daily hot button issues. The expiration of Title 42 and the stats of illegal immigrants coming through our Southern border are staggering to say the least. We jumped all over it and gave our 2 cents on it of course.
Climate change and what in the world is going on down in South Africa, maybe something worthwhile to hear about since it might be happening in the near future here in America.
Wellness Check was great this week and its something that everyoen should start to implement in their daily lives so we can have a better world and more productive people.
Take a listen and let us know what you think, we love the feedback. If you havnt followed us on your favorite platform please do, you don't want to miss any upcoming content.
Grunts in Appalachia Out!
Happy Mothers Day to all you fabulous ladies out there doing the mothering thing. For this week we have special guest Neera Burner, adopted out of India as a baby and raised in Appalachia. Currently an influencer that has works with and has worked with major companies that we all know and love.
John and Brandon have a pretty good spat going back and forth about the merits of public education and homeschooling. It was an argument that the public should take note of because it was off the hip, neither one of us knew the others perspective and we had a tense debate, it stayed within the parameters of respect and at the end of it we proved that you can disagree and still be perfectly fine with someone else with opposing beliefs. Now back to Neera who unfortunately had to moderate that one but she seemed interested to hear both sides of the argument.
Neera let something off her chest on this episode so for the wellness check we discuss the seasons of life when it comes to any sort of relationship. It got a little emotional but it was so genuine and the pain so recent that you will feel the emotion when she attempts to delve into it.
Big shoutout to Steve and Creekside Tavern for allowing us to setup and record there, they've got great bar food and drinks if you're ever down the Wayne County way.
If you're feeling a little sluggish make sure to pick up a CAMO energy shot!
Brandon goes off on the Bud Light controversy but we aren't going to tell you here what was said, guess you'll just have to take a listen.
John talks about his Washington D.C trip this last week and all the cool things there are to do there. Artificial Intelligence was also another topic of discussion when it comes to job loss and the ability for robots to basically take over most everyone's jobs in the near future.
We made this one a little longer because its been a few weeks since the three of us got to sit down together.
Enjoy this weeks episode, we know we enjoyed making it for you.
Happy 4/20 to everyone out there! John and Gorgeous George sit down and talk about the different Easter holidays, the Chinese coming across our southern border, some more wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey space stuff, and all kinds of other things. John went on a trip to Nashville and had some great things to say about the city of music. Be sure to show your support and leave us a review!!!!
Grunts in Appalachia out!
Allright everyone it was Easter Day on our normal podcast day so we pulled the one we had saved in the vault from last week that wasnt able to be dropped. I didn't have time to listen to this one I just uploaded it so when we all listen to it tomorrow we can all be surprised together.
The competition was on with the MRE challenge. Two meals were chosen by each host in a blind draw format. The each person had ten minutes to make the tastiest meal possible with the two meals that were chosen. We delve into some MRE stories and explain our creations to each other as we taste test the colorless mush before us. We at least had fancy Chipotle take out trays for presentation.
The show took a turn afterwards as Brandon and John talk about their vasectomies and the stupid things they did to themselves directly after surgery.
This week on Grunts In Appalachia we talk sports, but not your everyday sports. We each took it upon ourselves to find the oddest sports that are played anywhere in the world, and when we say odd we mean it! Gorgeous George wants to know about Jai Alai, John talks about Wife Carrying, and Brandon is still puzzled by pickle ball. We talk more about what is actually a sport, and debate on whether or not we should bring back the Coliseum (Gorgeous votes a hard yes here).
Be sure to check us out on all of our social medias and if you're a huge fan write us a review or hit that support button. You could also message us on Facebook and find out ways you could support the show!
-Grunt In Appalachia Out!
The Grunts talk aliens. Particulaly we discuss the alien war at the Dulce Base in New Mexico, the story of Valiant Thor and the entire town of Nuremburg witnessing an alien war in spaceships above them in the 1500s!
We jump off topic plenty of times for side conversations and our normal theatrics that you all are used to and why you love us.
There will be some polls on Facebook coming up this week in regards to aliens and other worldly things. Tune it!
Grunts in Appalachia Out!
Special Guest Corbette Williams joined us today for a wild episode. Corbett is another fellow Marine Grunt so he fit right into the craziness.
We've all probably heard about it by now but the wealthy elites of the world want you to stop eating so much beef and transfer over to bugs! So of course we had to go out and purchase some, that way we could let all of you know just how tasty these little critters really are out of the bag. So we dined on the podcast and we explain the flavor and texture of the crickets and meal worms that we ate.
Brandon decided that since his nose hair was out of control that we all had to have the inside of our noses waxed on air as well and that lasted about a whole 7 minutes and now all of us are breathing better. Brandon's lady Christina did a great job of keeping the mood light but she was real serious about ripping that wax out of our breathing holes. I'll never understand why women love to inflict pain on men when they are allowing it but to each their own I guess.
We discuss a couple of current events and Brandon jumped in late with a Wellness Check.
This is a wild episode, not for the kiddies. But it's pretty comical if you like a little grunt humor.
Grunts in Appalachia Out!
Happy Valentines Day to everyone!
As everyone knows by now the Kansas City Chiefs won the Superbowl. Brandon is beyond happy and now has to find new things to do between now and next football season, we think he's going to get into Nascar again. We discus the Superbowl, especially the atrocious halftime show with brought to you by the red cladded Rhianna. The internet was all over it but we had to have our three cents as well.
Since the first air to high altitude strike was made on the Chinese spy balloon there have been 3 other high altitude UFOs shot out of the sky in multiple places, here all about it here first.
Brandon tells some stories about how offended everyone is nowadays about everything, fake IDs and small humans. We went way off script on some of this so it got a little wild but you need that sometimes.
Enjoy this installment of Grunts in Appalachia and consider becoming a monthly donor so we can continue to be all up in your ears with cool stories, sick destinations, gear, beer and whatever else pops in our heads that we think you need to know!
Grunts in Appalachia Out!
It all started out completely normal. You know a Chinese balloon slowing roaming across our entire country, yeah about that. That's where it all began on this episode and we might have believed it was going to be the biggest talking point before the second half of the podcast began.
Brandon being the die hard Chiefs fan that he is talked a little smack about the upcoming Superbowl. I think we will all be on the Chiefs side for this one in support of Brandon since Yiorgi and John don't have a dog in the fight.
So the second half is the Big Bang and evolution theory between Yiorgi and John primarily. Maybe the very first debate on the program, always fun playing the mental games if ya know what I mean. Please take a guess who is team science and who is team follow the science, yeah there's a difference.
It was all in good fun and no punches were thrown so that's a win.
Enjoy and if you follow us on social media let us know what you think of this weeks episode of Grunts in Appalachia.
Grunts in Appalachia Out!
So we started the evening out dumping out some of Brandon's acquired gear from the Army before he retired and there was a lot of stuff, not to mention that we only scratched the surface of what he has colleting dust in his basement.
How in the world we started talking about the birds and the bees and the rise of technology all at the same time? We sure did, and we compared our time as children to what todays children have to deal with when it comes to having any information that you could ever dream of in the palm of your hand every day
Brandon talks about the technology used in the Army while forward deployed in the radio operations center and all the ways that they can listen in on anyone having a conversation. Did you know that text messaging has been a thing for many decades prior to being in the hands of everyone, this went from Brandons personal story of such use to a story that John remembered reading about from a long time ago. No need to guess about it just take a listen.
The notorious Alaskan Bush Company was also discussed and while two of the three members of the squad here haven't ever been it sounds like a down right crazy place, towards the end of the episode and an establishment that sounds pretty wild to check out.
As always we love entertaining you guys, if you love what we're doing please consider becoming a monthly donor which you can do on the Anchor or Spotify app. We appreciate you all!
Grunts in Appalachia Out!
Vacation Travel Stories
This week we planned on telling stories about travel while still serving activly in the military and after we got out, as just plain old veterans. Plus Gorgeous George told some stories about his travels as a brother in a fraternity.
Brandon kicked the trip stories off with his long car ride with a longtime listen of the podcast, sorry I don't remember your actual name but for the rest of the listeners his nickname is "Meatball". Needless to say don't fall asleep when its Meatballs turn to drive while traveling with friends. You might wake up fearing for your life.
John stepped up next with a wedding travel story were all the participates on this trip were dressed a brightly as Skittles and everyone let them know it throughtout the wedding. The weekend on the last exit of the L.I.E (Long Island Expressway) was pretty surreal with it being a small town full of massive farms. One of the large farm owners was where we were heading and they had accounts everywhere so Johns buddy would just say their last name and it was all taken care of.... Breakfast, lunch, dinner, gas and whatever else was needed was provided.
Yiorgi then jumps in with a high school band trip that turned out to be the first time a girl gave him some attention that was appreciated but cost him after he was caught!
When travelling everyone has their go to for snacks and beverages so we discussed some of those things and how everyone it seems always wants to eat somewhere that they can't get back home, guess whose favorite place is Popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches. While out on a trip its never sad to grab breakfast at Perkins which we all agreed to I think.
This is where the wheels on the bus started to come apart! Yiorgi jumped in and told a story that involves frat brothers, sports bars, dirt floor strippers and strip clubs that are BYOB. You guessed it, trouble as soon as he made it back to his hotel.
And a couple little tips for all you out there, don't ever use real snuff, in Brandons words, it gives you a huge nicotine buzz that turns almost immediately into anger. Don't go to dirt floor strip clubs that are BYOB and absolutly don't sleep in you car in a car garage in downtown Baltimore.
Check out these stories and more on this weeks episode of Grunts in Appalachia!
Grunts in Appalachia Out!
CEO of Matt Peyton of Thraxx THC and CBD company sat down with us this week and brought the goodies. We learned a lot about different variations of strains and the process that his company uses to make the very popular Delta 8 edible gummies.
Brandon tells a great story on Gorgeous George in the second half and we like always had a great time! I hate writing to much up on this because you need to take a listen instead of getting the CLIFF notes.
