Great morning! If you're sober, you've definitely noticed the growing range of near-beers, NA wine and zero-proof spirits, but the truth behind them is kind of concerning.... Today, I'm unpacking the ethical and moral concerns with all your favourite 0% drinks, and whether they're worth the money. There's two sides to every story - and today, I'm sharing both!

Great Morning! Obviously, you should not be embarrassed or ashamed of being sober or sober curious, but that is easier said than done! Whatever your history with alcohol is, you have every right to say no to a drink, and this doesn't make you any less of a friend or a person. True friends will care more about your mental wellbeing and your happiness than you joining them for a glass of bubbles!

The thing is, it can take a while to feel the full effects of being sober, and this can make the whole journey a little discouraging. Great morning! One of the biggest questions you'll get asked as a newly sober person is about your "rock bottom" moment - but this podcast is your sign that you don't need a rock bottom moment! I'll go through some of the signs that you're getting close to the bottom, but just know that if you're crossing your own personal boundaries and want to make a change without facing a life-threatening moment, that's okay too. And if you have hit the bottom - no worries, you can still go sober and there is still hope for recovery. I'll also briefly touch on how you can help friends who are also hitting their own rock bottom moments.

Great morning! Since this is the VERY first official episode of Great Mornings are Sober, I figured I'd give you a little bit of a background on my sobriety journey - from the party girl scene in my first few years of university, to questioning why I never felt the same attraction to alcohol, my "rock bottom" moment and then spending most of 2022 drinking mindfully and being sober curious. I'll also explain why I'm now a teetotaller, and going completely sober for 2023.

Great morning! And welcome to Great Mornings are Sober, your podcast guide to sobriety one less sip at a time
I'm your host, Kat - and if you know anything about me, I'm the PRIME demographic for binge drinking. Every part of my life is surrounded by alcohol.
But, I can't help but feel that alcohol just isn't it - it's hugely affecting my mental and physical health, and I'm sick of living in a society where literally poisoning yourself is so normalised. I did 2022 as sober curious - but now I'm taking the full plunge into sobriety for an entire year.
I'm going to podcast and share my journey, and provide you with motivation and guidance through all the highs and lows of sobriety and sober curiousity, and little tips to help you navigate through an alcohol-driven society - from dating, awkward family gatherings, growing your confidence, and everything in between. And hopefully changing the way we think about alcohol along the way - because you are still completely normal for just not wanting a drink.
So, instead of curling up, sick and filled with that hang-xiety dread - catch my new episode, available for free every Tuesday anywhere on all your favourite podcast streaming services. And join our little instagram community to find your new sober bffs @greatmorningpodcast. Everyone is welcome, whether you've spent your entire life sober, or you just want to know more.
You can also find my FREE 28 day journalling guide to get you through your first 28 days sober, and subscribe to my mailing list here: https://mailchi.mp/1e346b20f14d/greatmorningpodcast
