Could this be damaging your business?
Our brains are always jumping to conclusions about the behaviour of others and the Fundamental Attribution Error is one of the many cognitive biases that can damage relationships by undermining trust, teamwork and collaboration.
Cognitive biases are hardwired automatic responses that helped our ancestors survive back when life was very precarious for humans. But in today’s complex world, where we all have many interdependent relationships with lots of different people these biases can get in the way and damage trust and cooperation.
As leaders and managers it is important to understand these biases so we can counter them and prevent them from harming trust and productivity.
Watch this video and learn about the Fundamental Attribution Error in just 150 seconds!
Food for Thought:
❓Where are you making Fundamental Attribution Errors?
❓How might your behaviour be creating Fundamental Attribution Errors in your people, peers or customers?
❓What do you need to do more of in order to avoid these errors?

Back in 1908 two scientists popularised the concept of the impact of pressure on performance.
We all have a sweet spot where we achieve optimal performance, but that spot may be different for different people.
If we are out of the sweet spot, we may underperform due to a lack of pressure or because we have more than we can cope with.
Food for Thought:
❓Where are you currently on the performance curve?
❓Where are your team members and how well are you managing the pressure for them?

How well are you managing your stress bucket?
It’s easy to notice when others are stressed, but it can be difficult to identify our own levels of stress because it tends to creep up on us and then one little thing can create an outburst or other stress response.
We all have a stress bucket, but they tend to be different sizes so therefore have different levels of capacity. This short video explores this concept and what you can do to increase the capacity of your stress bucket.
Food for Thought:
❓How full is your stress bucket?
❓What can you do to release some of the stress?
