4 Noses Brewing

"It should be 4 asses" has to be the line of the episode. We approached 4 Noses with the highest of hopes based on their market presence in and around Denver. But despite their commercial success we just could not like this beer. And that's quite the understatement.

We sampled the IPA pack which includes Mountain Wave, Bout Damn Time, Flatiron Fog, and Above the Fog

Flight School
Alaskan Brewing Company

This episode we climb aboard our pontoon plane and head to the Great White North (West). Destination Alaskan Brewing Company!

We will sample a flight including Alaskan Pilsner, Amber, Icy Bay IPA, and Juneau Juice Hazy IPA. Along the way Tammy regales us with stories of her travels in Alaska while Brendan sets his sites on the Pilsner, suspecting there may be a dreaded diacetyl arising. He teaches us how to conduct a poor man's diacetyl test.

We cap it off by securing our next first class passenger and a bit of a disagreement on what goes over board into the icy drink.

Come aboard and buzz some polar bears with us on this flight to Alaskan Brewing Company.

Limited Release--Weihenstephan

Claiming to be the world's oldest brewery, Germany's Weihenstephan has been doing it since 1040 AD.

While they have many accolades to their name and many brews to choose from, we picked up a Heffeweissen Dunkel as a staff pick at a local big box store. While we make allowances for the toll that international shipping can take on the delicate chemistry of a beer, this one was just about as challenging to drink as the language that describes it.

Thank you for joining us for a sampling this beer almost 1000 years in the making.

Prost!

Brooklyn Brewery

Hey, I'm Brewering Ova Here!

This episode we jump a flight to the best of the burrows, Brooklyn, New York.

It's a bit of a mixed bag with the offerings and for once in our lives the three of us seem to agree on the ratings. Oh wait, shit, we forgot to ask Tammy her opinion. As an actual New York (state)er we'll just assume she's got one right this time.

Beers reviewed this episode include Brooklyn Pilsner, Amber Lager, Brown Ale, and Pop Art.

Tommyknocker Brewery

At the gateway to the Rocky Mountains, just off I-70, you'll find--in a little gold mining town-a gem of a brewery. Tommyknocker Brewery and Pub has been a staple of Colorado life since 1994. It's a destination brewery and the perfect mountain town experience. Matt made the long neglected pilgrimage to Idaho Springs on a prospecting mission of his own. And while he did return with a small amount of actual panned gold flakes, the liquid gold he brought back to the plains is the real treasure.

Featured beers are: Tundrabeary Fruit Ale, Burro Verde Green Chile Lager, That 90's Brown Maple Nut Brown Ale, and Butt Head Bock Doppelbock.

Grab a sample and come flight with us.

Stone Brewing

San Diego County born and now boasting the 9th largest craft brewery in America, Stone IPA should have a special place in Matt's heart...but he only knew them for Arrogant Bastard and he was never a fan.

This week we explore a rather tasty IPA flight consisting of Stone IPA, Hazy IPA, Tangerine Express and FML. Which one will we upgrade to first class and which one will we jettison for weight?

Great Divide's winter release of their Yeti Pack is the flight of the day.

This high octane, higher ABV foursome must be treated as gingerly as the unique horchata brew will allow. Grab a flight and board with us on Yeti hunt.

The Pilot

This is the pilot episode of Flight School. After the obligatory introductions we discuss a little bit about types of brews, types of tastes and a little bit on proper glassware. We also get into why brewers have a love-hate relationship with serving beer in flights, and why it's a winning proposition for the consumers.

Cheers.
