He teaches us how to conduct a poor man's diacetyl test.

While they have many accolades to their name and many brews to choose from, we picked up a Heffeweissen Dunkel as a staff pick at a local big box store. While we make allowances for the toll that international shipping can take on the delicate chemistry of a beer, this one was just about as challenging to drink as the language that describes it.

It's a destination brewery and the perfect mountain town experience. Matt made the long neglected pilgrimage to Idaho Springs on a prospecting mission of his own. And while he did return with a small amount of actual panned gold flakes, the liquid gold he brought back to the plains is the real treasure.
