Greeted by a grey sky, I'm back in Norway, and It's Easter. Everyhthing is shut during Easter in Norway. I speak about teaching and learning, and try and acquire some food.

Finlay Hall podcast is back after a beautiful and, what might have been, the best summer ever (!)
In this episode, I travel from Scotland to Norway, waste some time sampling some whisky at the airport, buy some cigarettes for Belen, then come up with a completely reductive theory about the political scale.
PS.
New things coming for the podcast, over the coming months. I'm going to attempt to do one of these episodes a week, and another kind of episode a month.

Myself and fellow Wooosh Gallerist Jamie Donald were asked by Cooper Gallery, to speak to the Student Curatorial Team about our art gallery in a car park, Wooosh Gallery.
A real institutional mashup!
Thanks to Peter Amoore of Cooper Gallery for hosting us and leading the conversation about our collaborative curatorial approach.
Thanks as well to the students for asking lots of great questions and listening to our mad opinions of art and organising!!!
and best of luck to all of them with all their future projects. :)
This was recorded in an art gallery so the sound is kind of echoey and there is the sound of a video installation playing in the background but I got sounding as good as possible.
Enjoy!
ps.
I'm going to continue updating these episodes over the summer, and hope to catch up completely.
I've stopped recording everyday for now as I needed a break after my year at university.
I think when I return I will change to a weekly format.
Hope my listeners are well X

This episode takes place on a a rainy Monday in Scotland. North Berwick > Edinburgh > Dundee.
I take a trip to visit my Grandma. Then I'm joined by my good friend, talented photographer/youth worker Ben Douglas aka. Burnt Bongo.
This year he was a judge on the Scottish Phone Portrait awards. (Sadly the deadline has passed but details can be found here-> https://www.scottishartstrust.org/scotland-now )
Ben also tells us about his work making podcasts with young people and all about the Scottish Portrait Awards.
He takes some lovely photographs for the podcast out of his window. HUGE THANKS BEN!
Check out more of his ~award winning~ photographs on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/burnt_bongo/

I speak to my sister Natalie about her work with bees and young people. She tells me about some of the social mechanics of beehives and how her work at the North Berwick Youth Project revolves around curiosity.
The book she references is titled "The Bees" by Laline Paull.
Warning: this episode contains the sounds of cows in labour

A fish supper! From the Tay Fry Inn. I recount the previous evening at the Cooper Gallery, talk about chip shop routines, fail to interview my friend and frequent collaborator Matt Gow.
Apologies for the distorted audio at the beginning, I did my best to repair it so as not harm your little ears!
Thanks again for listening
Spend time with your friends!

I fly to Scotland for a visit, experience the feeling of being scammed, get picked up by my friend Calum, then attend an event at the Cooper Gallery in Dundee. The audio from that event was sampled from their video here: https://youtu.be/8nZ3rErX7Vo?si=sXJ-LTb5ocYYXUAz
Thanks to Calum for picking me up, and to Sophia, Peter and Rhona at the Cooper Gallery for putting on a nice event.

Style Wars (1983) is a documentary about the graffiti scene in New York City, and I recount some memorable moments from it. It can be watched on youtube for free here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DXD1HBaLX0&t=5s
Then I post a letter, think about starting a choir, and there are lots of nice dogs in the city this rainy day.

Althought this wasn't the last episode for a while, I thought it might be at the time. In this episode you can hear me reflecting on some problems I've had witht his project, and in retrospect, I think the answer was not to stop, just to alter the path a little. I was also feeling very exhausted at this point in time, which is perhaps why I felt relief in the idea of stopping. Also some good news about my student loan.
Happy International Womens Day :)

I talk street sweeping systems, forget to wear my glasses(!), and take the decision to stop recording daily.... (I change my mind two days later).
I remember that this day I was feeling really low on confidence in my practice and this was the result - thinking I should stop doing this thing and do something MORE worthwhile... instead of thinking about how I coul dmake what I'm doing more worthwhile in itself. Hindsight is 20/20 and over the following weekend I spoke to my close friends and they brought me back to earth.
