In 2023, the NHS in England reported that 20% of children and young people aged 8-25 had a probable mental disorder, a rate that has stayed high since the pandemic. Humanity is lost among Humans.
We have grown extremely impersonal in this corporate world. Sociology terms it as an urbanized 'Gesellchaft' world - a rationally developed mechanistic type of social relationship, characterized by impersonally contracted association between persons. There was a steep rise of corporate jobs in 20th century with industrialization and globalization especially after the World Wars. Hence society became fragmented and individual identities more fluid. Under the corporate world, its laws and principles, one forgets that he parallelly lives an existence independent of that of its members. Your problems, your unsatisfaction, your unhappiness no longer matters. On the contrary, each of us unconsciously belongs to an organisation or other. Everybody maintains a professional attitude. Work counts more than anything else. So whenever a delivery boy visits or I contact the helpline desk nothing makes me happier than they putting their hearts out and chirpingly giving an individualistic treatment rather than being mere automations. Humanity, which is the quality of being kind, compassionate, and empathetic towards others, is what distinguishes humans from other species. However, in recent times, it seems that humanity is lost among humans. People have become more self-centered and indifferent towards the suffering of others. This loss of humanity can be observed in various aspects of human life, such as politics, society, and personal relationships. In society, we see a similar loss of humanity. People have become more individualistic and less concerned about the welfare of others. The sense of community and belonging has diminished, replaced by a culture of competition and materialism. Social media has also played a significant role in this loss of humanity, where people are more concerned about presenting a perfect image of themselves rather than connecting with others on a deeper level. Even personal relationships have not been immune to this loss of humanity. The rise of online dating and hookup culture has reduced human interaction to mere transactions. People are more concerned about fulfilling their own desires rather than building meaningful connections with others. The result is a society where people are more isolated and lonely than ever before. The loss of humanity among humans is a complex issue that has no simple solution. However, it is clear that we need to take a step back and reevaluate our values as a society. We need to prioritize compassion, empathy, and kindness towards others. We need to create a culture where these values are not only encouraged but also rewarded. We need to build communities where people feel a sense of belonging and connection. In conclusion, humanity is what makes us human. It is the quality that sets us apart from other species. Thus, we have lost this quality in recent times. We have become more self-centered and indifferent towards the suffering of others. We need to take a step back and reevaluate our values as a society if we are to reclaim our humanity.

Happiness is important for our emotional and physical health, and mental wellbeing.
A stronger sense of happiness and wellbeing has been shown to lead to better relationships, increase social connection and contribution to the lives of others, as well as contributing to healthier physical wellbeing. According to Wikipedia, Happiness, in the context of mental or emotional states, is positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happiness is something that people seek to find, yet what defines happiness can vary from one person to the next. Signs of happiness. While perceptions of happiness may be different from one person to the next, there are some key signs that psychologists look for when measuring and assessing happiness. 1. Feeling like you are living the life you always wanted. 2. Going with the flow and a willingness to take life as it comes. 3. Feeling that the conditions of your life are good. 4. Enjoying positive, healthy relationships with other people. Feeling that you have accomplished or will accomplish what you want in life. 6. Feeling satisfied with your life. 7. Feeling positive more than negative. 8. Being open to new ideas and experiences. 9. Practicing self-care and treating yourself with kindness and compassion. 10. Waiting to share your happiness and joy with others. Happy people still feel the whole range of human emotions, anger, frustration, boredom, loneliness, and even sadness from time to time. But even when faced with discomfort, they have an underlying sense of optimism that things will get better, that they can deal with what is happening, and that they will be able to feel happy again. Types of Happiness Hedonia; Hedonic happiness is derived from pleasure. It is most often associated with doing what feels good, self-care, fulfilling desires, experiencing enjoyment, and feeling a sense of satisfaction. Eudaimonia; This type of happiness is derived from seeking virtue and meaning. Important components of eudaimonic wellbeing including, feeling that your life has meaning, value, and purpose. It is associated more with fulfilling. Responsibilities, investing in long term goals, concern for the welfare of other people, and living up to personal deals. Hedonia and Eudemonia are more commonly known today in psychology as please and meaning, respectively. More recently, psychologists have suggested the addition of third component that relates to engagement. These are feelings of commitment and participation in different areas of life. All of these can play an important role in the overall experience of happiness, although the relative value of each can be highly subjective. Some activities may be both pleasurable and meaningful, while others might skew more one way or the other.

Kindness goes beyond merely being nice. Think about it, would you prefer people to describe you to be kind or nice. There can be a lack of sincerity in just being nice, there is often a perception of doing the minimum. Whereas being kind is doing intentional, voluntary acts of kindness. Not only when it's easy to be kind, but when it's hard to be. Has someone ever done something kind to you and all you wanted to do after was pay it forward? That's because kindness is a chain reaction. It's a wave that keeps rolling, and all it needs is one person to start it. One small kind act can cause a ripple effects that impacts an entire community. If we are all focused on being kind, we are creating a movement of change. You know that famous "be the change you wish to see in the world " quotes? That quote isn't just about being able to change their world. It's bigger, it's about a movement that can be started from one person acting with intention. Kindness is love, think about what love entails and what it means to love someone. Got it? Well, that's kindness. It's being selfless, caring, compassionate, and unconditionally kind. Like love, it takes practice to understand and feel it. We share love with others through kind acts such as a smile, a nice word, an unexpected deed, or a planned surprise. When we offer these acts to others, we make people feel good, we pass along hope, we promote peace, we show the power of kindness.

Basic human values refer to those values which are at the core of being human. The values which are considered basic inherent values in humans include truth, honesty, loyalty, love, peace etc. Because they bring out the fundamental goodness and principles of human beings and society at large. The human values of love, peace, truth,right conduct and Non-violence are latent in every human being, they are our very natural and true characteristics as HUMAN BEINGS!
