The Night after Halloween saw FAMU football produce a scary product.

A first half that featured many missed opportunities was followed by a second half that was nothing less than an abject disaster.

Once again we saw that this version of FAMU football is not destined to be one of the Top football teams in the South Western Conference.

With four games left in the season, many are ready to turn the page on a football season that instead of being a dream has proven to be a nightmare.

FAMU football went to the Bayou and got a W against another one of the SWAC bottom feeders in front of a less than raucous crowd.

While FAMU Men’s basketball put on a good show against Florida State in the Tuck.

All while FAMU Softball hones and sharpens itself in preparation for the 2025 season.

An interesting weekend for all those who love the 850 was had.

Two very proud programs who are among the Blue Bloods of HBCU football meet up in what many prior to the beginning of the season thought would be a game which would determine who the SWAC champion may be.

Instead we are faced with a loser leaving town sure they will be in rebuild mode for the next 9-10 months.

While this has taken place we find ourselves looking for FAMU basketball to give us some hope with the revitalization of a city classic and other sports around campus warming up at the right time.

The Rattlers and the Jaguars will meet in the Bayou which right now feels a bit more like a swamp.

Review of the Alcorn State vs FAMU Football Game

Alcorn came off the Reservation to Bragg Memorial Stadium and the game gave the fans an end result that is pleasing to those who are coming home to support the Orange and the Green.

The weekend was full of memorable moments and at the end of the week a great time was had by most.

In Four games FAMU fans have seen the football team play a standard of football that is not indicative of what many who follow this program's rich tradition expect.

We have also seen many leadership positions in the Athletic office be abdicated or flat out neglected all while the volleyball team seems to be in the middle of a rebuild.

At some point questions are going to be asked about when we should make some pivots on those that are in some of these key positions on campus.

Too many recruiting offers to keep up with in the span of a weekend but the FAMU athletic teams have been working to bring in some new athletes to the Highest of Seven Hills. 

Some of the offers will get more attention than others while others will get overlooked, but the most important thing that we see is that the staff is reloading. 

The reloading of athletics talent is huge to the future success of the program. 

While FAMU was off, other teams in the SWAC continued to hold it down for the conference.

FAMU was able to defeat Albany State in a game that was very close until the end of the game.

But even after defeating Albany State FAMU fans have a ton of questions about what this team will be going into SWAC play.

FAMU seems to have QB1 but that could be in doubt, FAMU seemed to have what appeared to be a championship level defense but that could be in doubt and FAMU looked to be a potential favorite to win the SWAC but that could also be questioned.

Going into a much needed bye week the fanbase seems to have more questions than it does answers about the team it loves so much.

Also FAMU Volleyball was able to put on a good show against Georgia State but still ended up losing the game.

It is a good time for the team to get healthy and for some recruiting to happen.

FAMU fans need a win in the worst of ways and it needs to come at the expense of the Albany State Golden Rams.

But the Rams roll into Bragg at 2-0 while FAMU limps in at 0-2 and led by a former Rattler.

The frustration with what has happened thus far has some fans asking questions that obviously cannot be answered within the time frame of the football season.

But this game has some more; concerned than others and the only response is that FAMU needs to come away with a decisive victory to help silence some of those who are now becoming detractors.

Additionally FAMU Golf is competing against the best teams in the nation while the Volleyball team also looks to find its sea legs.

The FAMU vs FAU football game proved to be an outing that provided the feared outcome while also giving the fans a taste of what they have been asking for. 

We were able to see RJ Johnson mature into what could be a serviceable QB going forward while the defense seemed to show some concerns that have others concerned as FAMU prepares to play a Red Hot Albany State Football Team.

Also FAMU Volleyball came up a bit short while FAMU Golf brought home the gold.

Rattlesnakes and Burrowing Owls do not share the same burrow and much like in nature we see an instance in which neither team can stay in a so called safe place.

FAMU is coming off the heels of a loss to Howard while FAU is looking to bounce back from a loss to Maryland.

Each team is desperate for a win for different reasons, but do we truly feel like both teams are truly in a must win mindset?

What we can say is that FAMU will leave this game hoping to have answered questions about a few key positions and unscathed.

While FAU is looking for a much needed shot of energy.

While football continues to find its way Golf begins and Volleyball also looks to find its footing.
