Our most recent Family Discipleship Class tackled the topic of "Parenting Generation Screen: Wisdom for Parents from Parents on Screens, Smartphones, and Social Media."
Our 7 panelists talked from their own personal experience, research, and family life to share practical wisdom for parents today navigating this tricky terrain.
The audio was recorded in an open room with a central microphone, so at times may be louder or quieter, but we believe there is a lot of helpful, practical information and tools here for you.

Is it inviting God into your heart? Is it a prayer you have to pray over and over again? Does it just save you from eternity separated from God? Is this something to check off the list and then live however you want? This week in our theology conversation, we talk about salvation and how to talk to our kids about this concept. It is something that could be simple, yet is also complex at times, which we have seemed to further complicate with the words we use and the ways we grew up. How can we have this important conversation? Tune in to our final episode from season 3 of Fridays are for Families! Questions you can ask: • What do you think it looks like to follow Jesus? • How do you know if you are saved? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? • Once you are a part of God’s family, what does that mean for you?
Pastor Jeff, or Grandpa Boss??
This week for Fridays are for Families, we interviewed Pastor Jeff. We talk about what discipleship looked like in the McNicol home as their girls grew up and what it looks like now as the parents of adult children.
We also hear some of the backstory behind what his granddaughter calls him! You don't want to miss that story!
This week on Fridays are for Families we talk about The Church. It's more than just our local church - the Church is global, or universal. What does that mean? How can we talk to our kids about The Church? One of the essential things we try to model for and teach to our kids here at Pathway is that they aren't just the Church of the future, but very much are a part of the Church today. That's reflected in how we teach, what we invite them into, and the influence they have in our congregation. Take a moment one Sunday or Thursday at Pathway and look around - how many kids and teens do you see? How can you have more conversations with your kid about what the Church is, what their place is in the Church, and how to live as a member of the Body of Christ today? One way to have more conversations is to listen in to this conversation we have today and invite your kid to watch or listen right alongside.

This month for Friday's are for Families we interviewed Pathway's Executive Pastor, John Westurn, and spent some time talking about what discipleship looked like in the Westurn home as their kids grew up and what it looks like today as grandparents.
Pastor John offers a unique perspective having been a youth pastor for a number of those formative years in the life of his kids. He and Michele also talk about their adoption and how that impacted their family and discipleship. We encourage you to give this a listen!
This month our theology conversation centers around the person of the Holy Spirit. Who is He? What does He do? How do we talk to our kids about Him? What place does He have in our faith and our day-to-day lives? We invite you to join Ben and Jenna as they talk about this theological concept from our Gospel Project curriculum! Questions you can ask: • Would you rather have Jesus with you right now, or the Holy Spirit? Why? • Tell me what you know about the holy spirit • Is it comforting to know that if you believe in Jesus, the Holy spirit is living inside of you?
This week we interviewed Jenine Pyle about what Family Discipleship looks like in the Pyle home. We aren't here to do things perfectly, but to seek to be intentional in the way we disciple in our homes. Though it looks different for different families, our prayer and goal is simply that every family would disciple their kids at home to be and to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

This month our theology conversation centers around the question of knowing God...how can we know that God actually wants us to know Him? What evidence, or proof do we have? We invite you to join Ben and Jenna as they talk about this concept from our Gospel Project curriculum! Questions you can ask: • What do you think about not being able to see God, and how does that make you feel? • What are some things that Jesus teaches us about who God is? • How does it make you feel to know that God loves you enough that He pursues you?
What's with the hats? You'll have to watch to find out! We talk about everything from Christmas traditions to expectations to our own memories of Christmas as kids growing up. This is a fun one!
This episode of Friday's are for Families focuses in on the birth of Jesus. How do we talk to our kids about Christmastime? How do we talk about the birth of Jesus? What do our kids understand about His birth? Why did Jesus come in the way He did?

This week we interviewed Pastor Jason for our Fridays are for Families focus. He shares what their journey of discipleship has been like as he and Elisa have been navigating how to disciple 8 kids ranging in age from a college senior to a first grader.
Today we continue our theological conversation from the Gospel Project, talking about Jesus as King. We don't talk much about kings and queens, or kingdoms, unless we are talking about the King of England or playing some sort of game or watching a video that involves those things. Kings don't make it all that often into our regular conversation.
And yet.
Jesus is the King of kings. What does that mean? And why does it matter for the discipleship of our families? We talk about that and more in this week's episode of Fridays are for Families.
This week we interviewed one of our elders, Morris Book, about what family discipleship looked like as he and his wife raised their kids. Now a grandparent, Morris provides a helpful perspective for us as we navigate the tensions of time, work, parenting, and more as we try to disciple our families well.
What is a priest? What does it mean that Jesus is our High Priest? We talk about that and what all of it actually means and why it matters as we do family discipleship at home.
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR KIDS:
Do you know what a priest is?
What are stories of priests you know from Scripture?
How does knowing that Jesus is our mediator change the way we should live?
What does family discipleship look like in the Hart home? We'll talk about that, as well as what discipleship things they have fallen into, what they have done intentionally, and some challenges that come having kids in various ages and stages of growth and development.
This is the second part of our new Fridays are for Families focus this season. We will spend time each month talking through the Big Question from the Gospel Project curriculum and how to talk theology with our kids at home.
Theology is the study of the nature of God. Theology matters because what we believe about God matters. We pass on what we believe about God to our kids in the way we talk and teach them. Theology matters!
That's why we believe in these conversations and seek to come alongside you to disciple our kids well.
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR KIDS:
How can we praise and adore Jesus daily, even away from the crowds? What might that look like in our home?
How does knowing Jesus fulfills prophecy increase our trust in God?
What about this is hard to believe?
We are beginning season three of our Family Discipleship series, Fridays are for Families. This season we are excited to bring you new content in a new format: interviews and conversations! We are kicking off with an interview between Jenna Hannum, Children's & Women's Director, and Ben Marshall, Pastor of Student Ministries, as they talk about what family discipleship is, why they do it, and how it looks unique in each of their families.
Summer is a natural time to celebrate change, and specifically milestones. It is a time when our kids move up to the next grade, we take vacations together, and often experience unique and different things as a family.
Summer is an awesome time to reflect on the past year and to identify and celebrate God’s faithfulness, and make and mark milestones. How? That is the topic of today's Friday's are for Families episode.
Our kids change quickly – both in their moods in a given day AND in how soon they grow up from this little baby into this gangly, awkward, awesome teenager.
It’s when we make the most of those quick moments that we make consistent and lasting change in the lives of our kids. How can we maximize those moments? That is the topic of today's Friday's are for Families episode.
We all know that with summer comes a change in routine. And this change typically involves a shift from structure to less structure. What we would encourage you to do, is to think about how you can capitalize on time with your kid(s) this summer.
Don’t let the lack of structure of the summer months keep you from discipling your kids with intentionality.
