Title: Where Trees Touch the Sky: A Redwood National Park Novel Author: Karen Barnett Narrator: Susan Bennett Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 12 hours 15 minutes Release date: November 19, 2024 Genres: Religious Fiction Publisher's Summary: In the early 1920s, the accelerating destruction of the California redwoods is more than nature-loving Marion Baker can bear. After throwing herself headlong into the work of the Save the Redwoods League, she meets the handsome Frank Duncan—only to find out he’s the son of one of the area’s worst timber barons. Though deeply disappointed, she realizes she could have an opportunity to convince him to rescue her favorite grove of trees from his father’s greedy grasp. But as she grows to love Frank, will she be able to persuade him? Or will she have to choose between him and her conservation efforts?Nearly fifty years later, in 1972, polio survivor June Turner is deeply proud of the legacy her great-aunt Marion has left as a redwood warrior. Despite her disability, June is determined to prove herself capable as a ranger at the recently established Redwood National Park, even if it means taking to the trails with her crutch in hand. What better way to carry on the family tradition of preserving God’s magnificent creation? When aspiring film student Adam Garner asks June to help make a documentary about Marion’s life, she swiftly grabs the chance to spread her aunt’s worthy reputation. That is, until they unearth a secret that might shatter the family legacy. In the scramble for answers, June may lose not only her family pride but also her own dreams.“Karen Barnett’s passion and admiration for nature shines in this wonderfully paced and deftly executed story. If you enjoy books that cause your spirit to soar as high as the redwood treetops, I highly recommend Where Trees Touch the Sky.”—Katie Powner, Christy Award winner and author of The Wind Blows in Sleeping Grass

Christ-Centered Conflict Resolution: A Guide for Turbulent Times by Tony Merida
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/834612 to listen full audiobooks. Title: Christ-Centered Conflict Resolution: A Guide for Turbulent Times Author: Tony Merida Narrator: Josh Childs Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 3 hours 0 minutes Release date: October 26, 2024 Genres: Christianity Publisher's Summary: Have you ever noticed that conflict is absolutely everywhere? Though we all want harmony in our relationships and our world, peace seems so hard to come by. Maybe for you, conflict looks like the latest culture war that relentlessly screams at you to pick a side, and you’re tired of all the fighting. Or perhaps it takes another shape, like a hot-tempered spouse, rebellious child, passive-aggressive friend, difficult church member, withdrawn roommate, or angry social media comment. No matter its form, conflict always finds us. And often, we let it overtake us. In this short, biblical, and practical book, pastor and author Tony Merida shows us that it doesn’t have to be this way. Merida not only paints a stunning picture of Christ our Peacemaker, he also shows us how to stop wishing for peace and go make it. In these pages, Tony will help you: - Discover where conflict comes from - Realize conflicts don’t have to define you, scare you, or undo you - Stop allowing your relationships to simmer in a place of division, anger, or strife - Understand the pattern and power of Christ as the ultimate Peacemaker - Tap into the Spirit’s supernatural ability to change you in the midst of your conflicts - Learn how to overcome evil with good - Anticipate conflicts and resolve them in biblical, Christ-centered ways Stop waiting for peace to “hopefully” come to your doorstep. Instead, in the power and strength God provides, become a person who can make the peace you so deeply desire, and watch your relationships transform.

(Dr. Sanna Schulte)

Land, Elizabeth Knox Narrator: Christian Black, Laurie West Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 4 hours 18 minutes Release date: October 15, 2024 Genres: Modern Publisher's Summary: Charlee: I knew the second I'd arrived back in Portland he'd know I was here within days, so it wasn't a shock to me that he came knocking on my door, literally. Kaden was my first love, but he isn't the same man anymore. These days he goes by another name, Kinetic, one he was given when he went overseas. Now he's in a biker club and living a totally different life. I came back here to take care of my elderly mother, but I didn't come alone. So much has changed over the last decade and as soon as I saw him, everything came rushing back. Will I be able to get out of Portland unscathed, or is Kinetic going to weasel his way into my heart like Kaden did? Kinetic: Years ago, I enlisted in the Marines and thought my life was going just the way I planned. Had the girl and the career I always wanted. We were kids, just starting our lives and had so much to look forward to. I had it all figured out, but the kicker is it never happened. I've lived the last twelve years mainly overseas working alongside my brothers. Coming home we started the Deathstalkers MC and I never looked back. Now I'm standing on the front porch of Charlee's mom's house, glaring down at her as she holds onto the one thing she knew I always wanted. My kid. Decisions have to be made and something's going to give. Either way she'll be mine again. Contains mature themes.

[Spanish] - ¿A qué llamamos literatura? - Todas las preguntas y algunas respuestas by José Luis De Diego
Please visit https://thebookvoice.com/podcasts/1/audiobook/820052 to listen full audiobooks. Title: [Spanish] - ¿A qué llamamos literatura?

Title: Gorse Author: Sam Horton Narrator: Catrin Walker-Booth Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 13 hours 49 minutes Release date: September 12, 2024 Genres: Fantasy Publisher's Summary: Cornwall, 1786. For years, the villagers of Mirecoombe have turned to their Keeper, the old and battle-scarred Lord Pelagius Hunt, mediator between the worlds of men and fey, for help. But this is a time of change. Belief in the old ways, in the piskies and spriggans, has dimmed, kindled instead in the Reverend Cleaver's fiery pulpit. His church stands proud above the mire; God's name is whispered, hushed, loved. And now, death stalks Mirecoombe on the moor. There are corpses in the heather. There is blood in the gorse. Nancy Bligh is determined to do what Pel will not: maintain the balance between the fey and the human world, be the Keeper that he refuses to be. Blessed with natural sight, friend to spriggans, piskies and human locals of Mirecoombe, Nancy has power that Pel never had and never lets her use. But as Mirecoombe falls into darkness, perhaps her time has come. A poignant and lyrical examination of faith, love and grief, Gorse asks what do we choose to believe, and how does that shape who we are?

Walk in the footsteps of the followers who were lured into these sinister groups, including: Branch Davidians: Led by David Koresh, this cult was waiting out the apocalypse in 1993 when the FBI infamously raided their compound in Waco, Texas. Narcosatanists: This cult of drug traffickers in 1980s Mexico was led by Adolfo de Jesús Constanzo, who believed he had magic powers and committed human sacrifice. Brotherhood of the Seven Rays: The earliest known UFO cult, the infiltration and study of the Brotherhood by psychologists inspired the term “cognitive dissonance.” Ho No Hana Sanpogyo: The founder, Hogen Fukunaga, claimed to be able to tell someone’s fortune by examining their feet. Breatherianism: Breatherians believe that humans can live on air alone. Their founder, Wiley Brooks, claimed to have gone without food for nineteen years. NXIVM: This twenty-first century cult attracted several members of Hollywood and engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, and racketeering under the guise of personal development seminars. In Cult Following, Ocker sheds light on the terrifying attraction of cults, demonstrating the elasticity of belief, the desperateness of belonging, and the tragedy of trust.

Title: The Boarded Window Author: Ambrose Bierce Narrator: Christopher Ragland Format: Unabridged Audiobook Length: 0 hours 12 minutes Release date: September 9, 2024 Genres: Horror Publisher's Summary: Ambrose Gwinnett Bierce was born on 24th June 1842 at Horse Cave Creek in Meigs County, Ohio. His parents were poor but they introduced him to literature at an early age, instilling in him a deep appreciation of books, the written word and the elegance of language. Growing up in Koscuisko County, Indiana poverty and religion were defining features of his childhood, and he would later describe his parents as “unwashed savages” and fanatically religious, showing him little affection but always quick to punish. He came to resent religion, and his introduction to literature appears to be their only positive effect. At age 15 Bierce left home to become a printer’s devil, mixing ink and fetching type at The Northern Indian, a small Ohio paper. Falsely accused of theft he returned to his farm and spent time sending out work in the hopes of being published. His Uncle Lucius advised he be sent to the Kentucky Military Institute. A year later he was commissioned as an Officer. As the Civil War started Bierce enlisted in the 9th Indiana Infantry Regiment. In April 1862 Bierce fought at the Battle of Shiloh, an experience which, though terrifying, became the source of several short stories. Two years later he sustained a serious head wound and was off duty for several months. He was discharged in early 1865. A later expedition to inspect military outposts across the Great Plains took him all the way to San Francisco. He remained there to become involved with publishing and editing and to marry, Mary Ellen on Christmas Day 1871. They had a child, Day, the following year. In 1872 the family moved to England for 3 years where he wrote for Fun magazine. His son, Leigh, was born, and first book, ‘The Fiend’s Delight’, was published. They returned to San Francisco and to work for a number of papers where he gained admiration for his crime reporting. In 1887 he began a column at the William Randolph Hearst’s San Francisco Examiner. Bierce’s marriage fell apart when he discovered compromising letters to his wife from a secret admirer. The following year, 1889 his son Day committed suicide, depressed by romantic rejection. In 1891 Bierce wrote and published the collection of 26 short stories which included ‘An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge’. Success and further works including poetry followed. Bierce with Hearst’s resources helped uncover a financial plot by a railroad to turn 130 million dollars of loans into a handout. Confronted by the railroad and asked to name his price Bierce answered “my price is $130 million dollars. If, when you are ready to pay, I happen to be out of town, you may hand it over to my friend, the Treasurer of the United States”. He now began his first foray as a fabulist, publishing ‘Fantastic Fables’ in 1899. But tragedy again struck two years later when his second son Leigh died of pneumonia relating to his alcoholism. He continued to write short stories and poetry and also published ‘The Devil’s Dictionary’. At the age of 71, in 1913 Bierce departed from Washington, D.C., for a tour of the battlefields where he had fought during the civil war. At the city of Chihuahua he wrote his last known communication, a letter to a friend. It’s closing words were “as to me, I leave here tomorrow for an unknown destination,” Ambrose Bierce then vanished without trace.
