Far across the ocean from Celennial lies a land once hailed as the heart of civilization — the Empire of Kharadros. Settled in the crown of the continent of Astrevia, it gleamed beneath the light of a thousand banners. They rose upon faith and flame, and the voices of the gods still sang across the skies. But when the heavens went silent… the world broke.
A century ago, it was chaos. Warring kings. Scattered tribes. Endless bloodshed. The Shattering Wars tore the land apart — kingdoms burned, saints fell, and the blood of angels soaked the soil. When the storm cleared, nothing remained but ruins… and the desperate will to survive.
But from the fire and ruin rose a single man — Auren the First Emperor. A conqueror with the wisdom of a sage, and the heart of a lion.
He united the continent beneath one banner, forging an empire that stretched from the frostbitten coasts of the north to the sunlit jungles of the south.
For over a hundred years, Khardros stood unshakable. Its cities gleamed with marble and gold. Its scholars charted the stars. And its people believed peace would last forever.
But no peace endures untested.
When the old emperor died, he left behind three sons… and an empire balanced on the knife’s edge of ambition.
The first and second princes — both born of concubines — raised their banners against each other. The nobles split. The armies marched. And Kharadros — once united under a single crown — tore itself apart.
Eight long winters of civil war followed. Cities burned. Bloodlines were erased. And the rivers ran red with the price of pride... Until a third son stepped from the shadows.
Kaelus. The Queen’s only child. The trueborn heir.
Through wit, deception, and the silence of assassins’ blades, he outmaneuvered both his brothers.
And three weeks ago, he took the throne.
The war ended not with victory… but with exhaustion.
A ceasefire signed. An empire broken — but breathing.
Yet beneath the crown lies unrest.
The nobles whisper. The peasants starve. The old wounds of war bleed behind every smiling mask.
Now, as Kharadros teeters between rebirth and ruin… the young emperor sends a summons across the sea.
He calls upon a name once spoken in fear and awe — a company of warriors who shaped the very fate of battle.

Welcome to Season 3 of Empyrean Decree!
This evening The city of Alexandria lies bathed in twilight glow, its spires and cobbled streets dressed in ribbons of gold and black for Her Majesty’s 50th birthday. Every window flickers with candlelight, every inn is packed with revelers. The eastern gardens of Castle Vasileia have been converted into the largest theater stage in the entire kingdom, one capable of hosting every noble lord and lady of the city- and then some. Revelers are sitting atop rooftops, crowding with friends and family to get a glimpse of the evenings excitement. It has been a long time since the theater group Galatea, named for the beautiful woman carved into the bow, has performed in the city.
But the true celebration lies not in the city below…
...but in the sky above.
A thunderous cheer rises as the famed airship Absalone—its hull lacquered obsidian, trimmed with silver fire—sails overhead and comes to rest beside the palace's Grand Balcony. Beneath its keel, a great platform unfurls like a blooming mechanical lotus, lowering toward the celebration court in dramatic fashion. Upon it: dancers, illusionists, a full orchestra—and the greatest traveling theater troupe on the continent.
Tonight’s performance: “The Crown & the Cursed,” a tragic romance rumored to have been “written in secret by the Queen’s own hand”... or so the heralds boast.
Each of our players has been invited personally as “esteemed guest, noble patron, or rumored muse.” They sit in places of honor on the edge of the stage platform or in box seats on the Grand Balcony.
The wine flows.
Masks are worn.
Eyes are everywhere.
And darkness is in the air.
