As Ps. Lukas finished up our four E’s in what makes us Elim we now shift gears in our homecoming series to talk about values we carry as the local church. One of the most important values a church can hold, one of the most valued pieces of the church family, is being a house that honours well. Honour is the heartbeat of a Christ-centered community—it calls us to see the image of God in every person and helps us to fight gossip which can cause division and bitterness. As we choose to honour God, our leaders, and each other, we become a church family that reflects Jesus’ love to our city.

Everyone wants a miracle, but no one wants to wait for one. The waiting is the hardest part and yet it’s where God does His best work. Ps. Lukas kicks off our new series talking about the space between promise and fulfillment — the waiting room of faith — and how God uses it to stretch, shape, and strengthen us. 

Its Baptism Sunday...It’s thanksgiving Sunday… and we can’t contain our joy and excitement. Ps. Lukas preaches a brief sermon on the how our thankfulness towards Jesus and the cross leads to action and celebration and there is no greater way to show your gratitude then by getting baptized. 

As we begin to wrap up our homecoming series, Ps. Lukas helps us see the importance of our final E: Engage our world. This is more than just a value of Elim church this is the mission of everyone you follows Jesus. Now more than ever, we are called to be Salt and Light to our world, and the call to step in, not step away from darkness and heaviness is so present in our lives. The time is now!

The idea of purpose has long been a tough one to pin down. We all want purpose, we all search to have meaning and add value to our lives and the world, but has this conversation become to inward focused? “My calling, my purpose…” Isin’t this all about God’s purpose? What God is doing? In this sermon Ps. Lukas unpacks why embracing purpose is more about us participating in God’s plans rather than making up our own.

As we celebrate homecoming Sunday and come together as a Church, Ps. Lukas starts off a brand new series helping us understand our values as a church but more so what every persons next step looks like. In this sermon, you’ll understand why we want you to have a powerful, life giving encounter with Jesus and how He wants to have a life changing encounter with you.

As a follower of Jesus it’s impossible to not engage, love and have a heart for God’s house. We all know there is something so special when you’re apart of a life giving community, a healthy vibrant church that has vision, care and a heart to see more people come to know Jesus. Today Ps. Lukas talks about having a heart for the house, why God has always chosen people AND places to dwell and bring His presence and how we as Elim Church can contribute financially to God’s house and the dreams we have.

God calls us into obedience to Him, in our walk, in our conduct, in our speech and in our giving. Yet if we will really let God take full control over our lives, over our heart, and over our finances, He will perform miracles with what we bring to Him. That is what is so incredible about Jesus.. He can take our smallest sacrifice, and create the most incredible surplus. We really hope you’ll hear Ps. Lukas’ message and plan to be a kingdom builder alongside Elim church.

The church has always been marked by generosity. Radical giving that fuels the great commission to all corners of the world. Yet, in the last 30 years, we as people have become less generous and more concerned with holding onto our money. The truth is, christians are called to be generous.. the greater truth, money and giving says more about you and your relationship to the gospel than you realize - lets step into the gospel and be marked by generosity so we can be a kingdom building church once again.
