Exploring the Reformed understanding of SANCTIFICATION.
Looking at the doctrine of soteriology (salvation) via the order of salvation: Election, calling, regeneration, conversion, justification, adoption, sanctification and glorification.
In episode seven we look at the Mosaic Covenant, or what is often called the Covenant of Law, seeing how it was always meant to be temporary scaffolding to help expand and fulfil the Covenant of Promise that reaches its telos in the New Covenant.
The Covenant of Promise (Abrahamic Covenant) has for its purpose the preservation of the true knowledge of God among the idol-worshipping nations. Unlike the Covenant of Creation and Preservation which is made with all people, this covenant is made with Abraham and his seed only.
Today in season 1 & episode 3 we are going to think about what has been called the Covenant of Redemption or the Eternal Covenant – which is often called a theological covenant, as opposed to a biblical covenant like the Abrahamic or Davidic covenant, because it’s deduced from Scripture.
Today we will explore the biblical doctrine of Scripture because our understanding of Scripture is foundational for what we believe, love and worship. It is also fundamental for our Christian hope and our moral vision.
