At the beginning of chapter 40, we see Joseph in the pit again, this time in prison, even when he did not commit a crime. Joseph now serves the servants of the Pharaoh; he cannot be in a lower position. But even in this dark place, God’s hesed (a never-failing, eternally-persevering, always-keeps-His-promises kind of love) is with Joseph. By the end of chapter 41, Joseph is the second most powerful man in Egypt. God’s prepared him for this special time, from the pit of betrayal and forgottenness, to bring salvation to many people.Materials for further study:- Exalting Jesus in Genesis by Phillip Bethancourt -The Gospel According to Joseph by Tim KellerThe Gospel According to Josephgospelinlife.com
