A lighthearted look at Aesop’s fables and what they mean in today’s world. As a social experiment, I started narrating fables using a Facebook page and Youtube channel to share. This venture has since turned into a multifaceted project and this podcast breaks down the stories.

Deconstructing The Wolf and the House Dog - Episode 14

There is so much to say about liberty, especially days before a monumental election. There is a wolf and there is a dog each with conflicting ideals.  Nobody gets hurt in this one but there sure is some shaming. here are a lot of versions of this fable. The one that the library of Congress chose to share makes you think. Well, it made me think, and then I made it this week's fable.

Deconstructing The Lion and an Ass by Aesop - Episode 12

This one is a thinker for the election season. Everyone counts but not treated equally. Is it ok for a leader and/or lion to determine that you aren't good enough to listen to when complaining? Aesop taught a lot of lessons and this one seems to teach intolerance of those you find lesser than yourself.

Deconstructing Two Travelers and a Bear by Aesop - Episode 11

Aesop leads one to believe that if you fight an impossible fight together you are better than a person looking to survive. This lesson would be better taught if someone actually got hurt.

Bonus Material - Episode 8.5 and the music is gone
Episode 8.5 includes a bonus fable and a great tune. The last episode involved a lying bat in The Bat and the Weasels and The Bird the Beasts and the Bats give you some insight into the bat family. As a special bonus you get to hear one of my favorite tunes. Anchor.fm along with Spotify Premium allow me to add music as long as the podcast is not monetized. I’d rather share music than make a penny so here is Unconventional Wisdom by Built to Spill. Enjoy and please subscribe on one of the platforms and/or favorite the podcast.

Deconstructing The Wolf and the Kid by Aesop Episode 9

This one dives into a completely different rabbit hole so to speak. The lesson Aesop is presenting is for the Wolf but the Wolf has more problems than just being a murderer. Bad parenting, bad listening, and a savvy idea save this kid. Find Aesop's Fables before they are deconstructed on Facebook.

Deconstructing The Bat and the Weasels by Aesop - Episode 8

The good news and the bad new. Good news is that there is not any murder in this fable. The bad news is a that all of the animals are idiots. I find that Aesop often get the message across to a specific audience and I am not sure to whom this lesson is to be taught.
