'Superman Returns' (2006)
On a new episode of DC Multicast, Keith welcomes acclaimed comic book artist and writer Jamal Igle to break down all the canceled Superman movies that ultimately led to 2006's Superman Returns. From the failed Tim Burton film to the original aborted Batman vs. Superman, the Man of Steel took a long journey through production hell before hitting the big screen in Bryan Singer's pseudo-sequel to the Richard Donner films. Keith and Jamal also reminisce about their battles over Superman on message boards in the early aughts and discuss why Warner Bros. has such a hard time getting the character right on the big screen. They also talk about what went wrong the first time around and how Brandon Routh got a second chance to redeem his turn as Superman during the Arrowverse's take on Crisis on Infinite Earths. On the latest episode of DC Multicast, Keith is joined by journalist Lyvie Scott, author of Inverse's oral history of the 2004 Catwoman film, starring Halle Berry! Lyvie tells Keith about her conversations with the film's director Pitof, its screenwriter John Rogers, and other behind-the-scenes figures that brought the film to life. Though Catwoman is regarded as a disaster -- infamously winning the Razzie for worst movie of the year -- there is a new generation of fans embracing the film's iconography. Keith and Lyvie discuss the movie's origins, its place in the history of superhero cinema, and more! Subscribe to DC Multicast to follow along as we rewatch every DC movie!

'Steel' (1997)
On the latest editon of DC Multicast, comic book writer and lifelong Lakers fan Greg Burnham joins Keith as they hack-a-Shaq the 1997 classic non-Superman movie, Steel! Before they dive into the similarities between Steel and Iron Man -- and why the movie is "so bad, it's good," Keith and Greg reminisce about how Shaq dominated the NBA in the '90s. They also dig into the limitations of early day comic book movies and how Steel was almost a movie about Milestone hero, Icon. Whether or not Steel set back stories of Black superheroes, Greg has been on the forefront of creating stories for all audiences. His latest project, Bridges, is in the final stages of crowdfunding and is near its goal. Support the project on Kickstarter here!

'Batman & Robin' (1997)
Season 2 of DC Multicast continues! This week, Keith welcomes Batman & Robin superfan Britney Monae to discuss the end of the Schumacher era. Widely derided as the film that killed the franchise, Britney shares why the film gets unfairly criticized. Its embrace of camp was not only an homage to Batman’s ‘60s sensibilities, it was also an expression of the film’s queer subtext and influence. They also spend time on George Clooney’s Flash cameo and speculate about what a third Schumacher movie might have been like.

'Batman Returns' (1992)
Just like Batman, the DC Multicast Returns! After a multi-year hiatus, we are back to rewatch every live action DC movie ever! Just in time for the Holidays, we’re kicking off season 2 with a look at the Christmas classic, Batman Returns! Joining Keith in the festivities is movie critic Julian Lytle. Together they tackle the sequel’s highs and lows, including the return of Batmania, Michelle Pfeiffer’s iconic turn as Catwoman, Danny Devito’s take on the Penguin, how Christopher Walken’s scene-stealing Max Shreck presaged the Musk/Trump presidency, what Marlon Wayans as Robin might have meant for blerdom, and why Nike and DC need to collab on official Batman Returns-branded Jordans! And always remember this piece of Christmas advice: mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it, but a ‘cast can be deadlier if you mean it.
