Ep 101: Peter Jackson's Dead Alive (a.k.a. Braindead) w/ Special Guest Stew (SWO) – Collateral Cinema Season Premiere (SPOILERS)
On the Season 9 Premiere of Collateral Cinema, we are joined by Stew from the Stew World Order podcast to talk Peter Jackson’s 1992 zombie comedy splatter film Dead Alive, a.k.a. Braindead! This cult movie may be one of the goriest in cinema, and also one of the most batshit splatter films from the filmmaker that would go on to direct the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so it’s the perfect way to start the spooky season! Stay tuned for our next Spooky Month episode covering The Evil Dead (1981), as well as our Halloween Special on Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers!

Adult Swim Edition: Space Ghost Coast to Coast TV Review (Season 1) w/ Special Guest Robbie Sherman (Conversations with RS) – Collateral Cinema: Director's Cut! (SPOILERS)
Welcome back, stupid listeners! Are you comfortable? Are you getting enough oxygen? Collateral Cinema: Director’s Cut! is back with some more Adult Swim content, and this time we are joined by our friend Robbie Sherman to review the first season of Space Ghost Coast to Coast! With the passing of legend George Lowe earlier this year, and on the occasion of the anniversary of C. Martin Crocker’s death (we actually recorded this on the day), we thought it was appropriate to cover this iconic adult animated series/late night talk show parody that kicked off what would become Adult Swim (and arguably Cartoon Network as we know it), with its surrealist, non-sequitur humor that influenced so many of us growing up. So, chill with us on this special Director’s Cut! episode and stay tuned for Season Nine of Collateral Cinema! You’ll watch anything! Go ahead, change the channel. You’ll be back!

Collateral Cinema #Miikeversary Special: Takashi Miike's Fudoh: the New Generation w/ Special Guest Jason Stein (Dads from the Crypt) (SPOILERS)
On our latest #Miikeversary Special, we are joined by returning guest Jason from Dads from the Crypt, as we talk about one of Takashi Miike’s earlier works: Fudoh: The New Generation. Originally intended as a direct-to-video adaptation of an unfinished manga series, the producers of Fudoh were so impressed by the film that they insisted it premiere in theaters in 1996, and it’s easy to see why with Miike’s penchant for Yakuza stories, as well as his talent for cinematography and adapting wacky, edgy plots so far out they could only come from a manga. So, listen now, and stay tuned for more post-season content, as well as Season Nine of Collateral Cinema in October!

At the Movies Edition: Matt Shakman's The Fantastic Four: First Steps – Collateral Cinema Movie Podcast (Spoiler-Free)
Collateral Cinema is back with yet another At the Movies review; within a week of the debut of the DCU with Superman, we also got the latest MCU installment: The Fantastic Four: First Steps! This entry is Marvel Studios’ long-awaited take on Marvel’s First Family, set in the 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic Earth-828, apart from the mainline MCU timeline. We found a lot of parallels between both July 2025 superhero movies and talk at length about those, as well as compare the new Fantastic Four film to previous attempts. Catch all of our spoiler-free thoughts on the new episode, and stay tuned for more post-season content, including more At the Movies reviews, as well as Season Nine in October!

Ep 100: Redux: Tommy Wiseau's The Room (2005) w/ Special Guest Derik (Ratchet Book Club) – Collateral Cinema Season Finale (SPOILERS)
We did not hit her. It’s not true. It’s bullshit! We did not hit her, we did naaawwwt. Oh hai listeners! Yes, you read that right; this is our 100th numbered episode of the podcast, and we are celebrating that along with the conclusion of Season Eight with a very special redux on a long-time favorite: Tommy Wiseau’s The Room! On this momentous occasion, Derik from Ratchet Book Club and A Seat at the Spades Table joins Beau and Ashley as a first-time watcher of the 2003 independent film often called ”the Citizen Kane of bad movies”. It would be a massive understatement to call Wiseau’s magnum opus The Room important to Collateral Cinema; it’s practically the reason we started podcasting together in the first place! We took the opportunity to hear Derik’s fresh take moments after the experience and share our thoughts on why this film is not only so important to us, but to cinema and pop culture as a whole. Thank you to all of our listeners, guests, collaborators, and fellow podcasters for helping us make it this far, and here’s to Season Nine and the next 100 episodes! You are tearing us apart!

Ep 99: Mark Waters' Mean Girls (2004) w/ Special Guest Mike Barone (Mike, Mike, and Oscar) – Collateral Cinema Movie Podcast (SPOILERS)
Get in loser. We’re going podcasting. Mike from Mike, Mike, and Oscar joins us for an analysis of the 2004 teen comedy film directed by Mark Waters and written by Tina Fey: Mean Girls! As consistently hilarious as it is quotable, this movie is a favorite of millennials, due in no small part to its surplus of memorable performances and Fey’s brilliant screenplay. You can sit with us for this review, but don’t forget, on Wednesdays, we wear pink. And if you think our content is fetch, stay tuned for our 100th episode and Season Finale on Tommy Wiseau’s The Room very soon!

Collateral Cinema 4/20 Special: Louis J. Gasnier's Reefer Madness (1936) w/ Special Guests Kevin & Erin (Podcast That Wouldn't Die) (SPOILERS)
We hope all of our ganja-enjoying listeners had a fantastic 4/20; we sure did! This stoner holiday, we blazed while watching the anti-cannabis propaganda exploitation film Reefer Madness! Originally released as a Christian picture titled Tell Your Children in 1936, then vulgarly recut as an exploitation film from 1938 through the 50s, this hilariously melodramatic flick was recontextualized as an unintentional satire in the 70s, and is ironically considered by many weed smokers one of the original stoner movies today. For our (belated) 4/20 Special, Beau and Ash are joined by returning guests Kevin and Erin from The Podcast That Wouldn’t Die! in our discussion of one of the worst films ever made and the batshit insanity it unabashedly presents as factual in its campaign against marijuana. If you enjoy this special episode, stay tuned for our (also belated) analysis of Ghost in the Shell, as well as our next numbered episode on Doctor Who: ”The Day of the Doctor”, and... smoke it if you got it!

Ep 96: Richard T. Heffron's The California Kid – Collateral Cinema Movie Podcast (SPOILERS)
Due to production issues, we are jumping ahead to our next episode ahead of Ghost in the Shell: we’re reviewing the 1974 made-for-TV film starring Martin Sheen, The California Kid! This action thriller car movie is a blast to the past, filmed in the 70s and set in the 50s. While it may be one of our more obscure picks, Robert, Beau, and Ash tell you why we think it’s worth a watch, not only for car enthusiasts but anyone interested in a TV flick with a rising star. We’ll be back with Ghost in the Shell as soon as possible and then our next scheduled episode: the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, ”The Day of the Doctor”!

At the Movies Edition: Jeff Fowler's Sonic the Hedgehog 3 – Collateral Cinema x Collateral Gaming Collaboration Special (SPOILERS)
Gotta go fast! ...Except we weren’t. We sort of dropped the ball on releasing an At the Movies review while Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was in theaters, and we didn’t mention it on the Year in Review episode, but since Collateral Media has covered both of the previous films, we just couldn’t not talk about the latest—and possibly greatest—one. So, once again, Collateral Gaming joins Collateral Cinema for a discussion of Jeff Fowler’s newest Sonic movie, and this time we can get into full spoilers! With the addition of fan favorite Keanu Reeves to the cast as Shadow the Hedgehog, and the return of Jim Carrey for not just one Robotnik role, but two, it’s sure to be a blast! We’ll have even more content out very soon, such as our Ghost in the Shell (1995) episode with the Retro Anime Podcast, as well as our analysis of The California Kid.
