Guided by the Spirit | John 16:1-15 | Shine Thomas
John 13-17 is called the upper room discourse. This covers one night of Jesus’ discourse. Jesus has these final words to give to his close followers. This is the night before his arrest, crucifixion and trial. Jesus is telling them that he is leaving. He is going away from them. After his ascension, the way that Jesus is going to be with his disciples is going to change. Jesus is going to be with them through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God and the Holy Spirit is someone who comes alongside another person to help and to guide them. It is like someone helping an old person to cross the street. Jesus is saying there’s a new character (a character who as with me from eternity past, the Holy Spirit who was already there) is coming into the story. Jesus can be in one place in one time. He’s in the room with them twelve. They can all hear Him, but He, if the Jesus Movement is going to spread and if Jesus is going to become a personal reality and presence to every one of His followers, He has to go and He has to come and be with them in a different way than He has been up to this point.

Fruitful Living | John 15 | Shine Thomas
In John 13-17, John records for us the final words of Jesus before his arrest and crucifixion. Jesus spoke to them that they will receive the Holy Spirit in John 14. The Spirit will be their teacher and will maintain His presence with them. But they have a job to do as well. Their job is to remain or abide in him.

In the Hands of the Master Potter! | Jeremiah 18: 1-6 | Rev. Samuel T. Koshy
In today's sermon, titled "In the Hands of the Master Potter," we delve into the powerful imagery presented in Jeremiah 18:1-6 (NIV). This passage provides a profound metaphor of God as the potter and His people as the clay, illustrating His sovereign control and loving guidance in shaping our lives. Key Points Covered: The Master Potter's Vision: God has a purpose for each of us, just as a potter envisions a vessel before shaping it. Our lives are not accidents; we are created with intention and destiny. The Master Potter's Method: Life's circumstances are like the wheel turning under the potter's hand, shaping us through trials and challenges. Romans 8:28-29 reminds us that God works all things for good, conforming us to the likeness of His Son. The Master Potter's Faithfulness: Despite our imperfections and failures, God persists in molding us into vessels of honor. His love and commitment are unwavering, ensuring our growth and transformation. Illustrations from Scripture: Exodus 15: God as a triumphant warrior. 1 Samuel 8: God as a just king. Job: God as the master architect. Psalms 23 & 95: God as a shepherd and the rock of our salvation. Hosea: God as a faithful husband. In this message, we explore how God, the Master Potter, uses every circumstance to shape us, emphasizing His control, care, and ultimate purpose for our lives. We are reminded of the importance of surrendering to His will, trusting that He is shaping us for His glory and our good.1

Trusting God's Timing - Israels Struggle with Faith | 1 Samuel 8-10 | Shine Thomas
In our daily lives, we always encounter challenges that prompt us to find solutions. Man wanted to move and he invented the wheel. Today, we are living in the age of AI, Google, ChatGPT, software etc; all these are invented to solve man’s problem. These are all good and we use it when we need it. Do you know that there are other problems in human life for which you need God to solve it? The mistake most of us do is that for problems that only God can solve, we go the natural way: We see a problem, we strategize a fix, and we tell God how to solve it. This is what we call getting ahead of God. Getting ahead of God often creates problems in our lives. For example: Abraham and Sarah got ahead of God. They saw the problem, they strategized a fix, and they got ahead of God. It creates more problems. Not waiting for God is a temptation for us, it was obviously a temptation for Israel too. Today, we are going to see the benefits of waiting on God’s timing versus the perils of impatience and our timing.

Abundant Life | John 10:1-22 | Shine Thomas
Shepherd is one of the figures of speech mentioned in the Bible to describe God. Both in the OT and the NT, God is the good shepherd. Jesus in his public ministry stated many times, “I am the good shepherd.” Jesus talks about his shepherding heart also talks about the thief or a robber, in other words, they are the wicked shepherds. Through this message, we are going to discern by God’s grace as to who is the wicked shepherds, so that our lives are protected and safe. We will also look at the condition of the sheep and the true nature of the good shepherd, Jesus. As we reflect on the profound truths revealed in John 10, we are reminded of the immense love and care of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. He not only lays down his life for us but also leads us into abundant life. Let us heed his voice, follow him faithfully, and experience the fullness of life he offers.

Keys to Eternal Life | Come, Look, Believe, Abide | John 6 | Shine Thomas
Jesus performed the miracle of feeding the 5,000 people, which revealed his compassion for human needs, his omnipotent power to address any need, and his true identity as the Messiah and "bread of life." The crowds recognized Jesus as the promised prophet like Moses, who would deliver them, but they misunderstood his mission to free them from spiritual bondage to sin, not just political oppression. Jesus used this miracle and the subsequent conversation to teach that true life comes from depending on him, the living bread from heaven, and abiding in him, not just seeking material provision. He calls us to come to him, look to him, believe in him, and remain in him for eternal life.

The Ripple Effect: The Cost of Disobedience | 1 Samuel 13:1-15 | Shine Thomas
In this powerful sermon titled "The Ripple Effect: The Cost of Disobedience", Pastor Shine Thomas takes us through 1 Samuel 13:1-15 to explore the devastating consequences of King Saul's disobedience to God's command. Just like a pebble dropped into water causes ripples that spread far beyond the initial impact, one act of disobedience can lead to far-reaching effects. Saul's failure to wait for Samuel and his decision to act in fear rather than faith cost him the legacy of his kingdom. Through this passage, we learn crucial lessons about obedience, faith, and the consequences of placing ritual above relationship. Pastor Shine draws parallels to our everyday struggles, showing how fear can cloud our judgment and lead us away from God's will. This sermon encourages us to trust God, even in overwhelming situations, and highlights the importance of repentance when we fall short.

The Cure for Dragon Sickness | The Parable of the Wise Crook | Luke 16:1-15 | Jacob Cherian
In this compelling sermon based on Luke 16:19-31, we dive deep into the intriguing narrative of the Rich Man and Lazarus. Is it a parable or a true story? Why is one character named while the other remains anonymous? Join us as we unravel the layers of this unique story and discover its profound lessons. Contrary to common misconceptions, this story is not a mere commentary on the reversal of fortunes between the rich and poor in the afterlife, nor is it a straightforward depiction of heaven and hell. To understand its essence, we explore the broader context within the Gospel, especially Luke 16, where Jesus addresses the issue of "Mammon," highlighting the dangers of wealth and greed. Delving into the socio-religious backdrop, we examine the Pharisees, who were labeled as "lovers of money" and derided by Jesus. The narrative exposes the insidious nature of greed, equating it to idolatry (Col 3:5; Eph 5:5). Drawing inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and the concept of "Dragon Sickness" embodied by Smaug the dragon, we unravel the parallels between material greed and spiritual malaise. The characters of the rich man and the poor man, Lazarus (meaning "The one God helps"), set up extreme scenarios. Explore the significance of the "Bosom of Abraham" as the resting place of the righteous dead, bridging the concepts of Sheol (Hebrew) and Hades (Greek), as seen in Luke 1:52, 53; 3:10-14; 6:20-25; 12:13-21. The sermon culminates in the exploration of the cure for greed - obedience to Scripture. Journey through passages like Exodus 16, Deuteronomy 14-15, Isaiah 58:7, 10, Acts 2:44; 4:32-37, and 2 Corinthians 8:2 to discover the transformative power of generosity and compassion. Unearth the ultimate cure for "Dragon Sickness" as outlined in 1 Timothy 6:6, 10, 17-20, and embrace a life of contentment, grounded in faith and obedience. Join us as we navigate through the timeless wisdom embedded in this parable, offering insights that resonate with the challenges of our modern world.

Moving Beyond The Fog | Psalm 102 | Shine Thomas
One winter day when I saw outside our house, there was thick morning fog and visibility was clouded, obscuring the world around me. Yet, as the sun rose, its light pierced through the mist, which brought clarity to our surroundings. In life’s chaos, troubles often shroud our sight, making it hard to see God’s hand at work. But just as the sun dispels the fog, God’s presence cuts through our challenges. For beyond the fog, God’s guidance is unwavering, illuminating our path with His divine light and wisdom. Open your Bibles to Psalm 102. The palmist is a deeply troubled person who is very sick. But during his sickness, the psalmist is troubled emotionally and spiritually as well. The psalmist puts his confidence and trust in this Lord and the psalmist prays for deliverance.

What guidance does the Word of God offer for such circumstances? This psalm talks about a situation that every one of us goes through in life. Marching To A Different Drum Beat ! | Hebrews 11: 24-28 | Dr. Samuel T. Koshy
Have you watched a parade where soldiers march to a particular drum beat? The drum beat sets the pace and pattern of the marching. The world around us teaches us to live for the present - for the ‘here and now.’ From a short-term perspective the ‘here and now’ is far more important than eternity and what it can offer. However, when we catch a glimpse of God, we chose to march to a different drum beat! By faith, Moses saw the invisible and embraced the impossible. As a result – 1. Moses chose Yahweh’s Purpose over Pharoah’s Palace - Heb 11:24, 25 2. Moses chose Eternal Rewards over Earthly Riches – Heb 11:26 3. Moses chose Heaven’s Revelation over Human Rationalization – Heb 11:27, 28 People of faith live differently and have the courage to choose God’s plan over their own plans. These are people who March to a Different Drum Beat! The life of Moses and the significance of faith as outlined in Hebrews 11:24-28. By faith, Moses chose to reject the fleeting pleasures of Egypt and the life of Pharaoh’s palace, embracing the greater purpose God had for him. He saw the invisible and pursued the eternal reward, marching to a different drum beat. Discover the three significant choices Moses made that impacted his life and can inspire us today: Yahweh’s Purpose over Pharaoh’s Palace Eternal Rewards over Earthly Riches Heaven’s Revelation over Human Rationalization As followers of Christ, we are called to live differently, recognizing that our real citizenship is in heaven. Like Moses, we are invited to trust God’s eternal promises and make decisions that honor Him rather than seeking momentary pleasure. Join us as we dive deep into what it means to live by faith, reject the temporary gains of this world, and embrace a higher calling. Let’s respond to God's word by choosing His purpose, rewards, and revelation over what the world offers.

Barren, No More | 1 Samuel 1:1-2:2 | Shine Thomas
In 1 Samuel 1:1-2:2, we learn about the story of Hannah, a woman who faced the barrenness of not being able to have children. She was married to Elkanah, who also had another wife, Peninnah, who had children while Hannah did not. This situation led to conflict and pain for Hannah, as she felt the pressure and shame of not being able to bear children. Each year, Elkanah took his family to worship and sacrifice at Shiloh, where the priests Hophni and Phinehas served. Despite Elkanah's love for Hannah, her barrenness caused her deep anguish. Peninnah's taunting and provocation only added to Hannah's sorrow. Year after year, Hannah endured this pain and loneliness. Her rival's constant antagonism drove her to tears and despair. But in her suffering, Hannah found solace in the presence of God. She turned to prayer, pouring out her heart before the Lord. Hannah's barrenness removed distractions from her life, allowing her to focus solely on God. In her desperation, she made a vow to dedicate her future child to the service of God. This act of surrender and faith set Hannah apart as a woman of deep devotion and trust in the Lord. Through Hannah's story, we see the challenges and trials of the barren road she walked. The loneliness and hurt she experienced were profound, but they also led her to a place of greater dependence on God. In her barrenness, she found a deeper connection to her Creator, discovering a strength and faith that sustained her through the darkest moments of her life. Ultimately, Hannah's story is one of hope and redemption. Despite her barrenness, God heard her cries and answered her prayers. She gave birth to a son, Samuel, whom she dedicated to the Lord's service. Through her faithfulness and surrender, Hannah found purpose and fulfillment in God's plan for her life. The story of Hannah reminds us that even in our darkest moments of barrenness and despair, God is near. He sees our pain, hears our cries, and responds with love and compassion. Like Hannah, may we find the strength to trust in God's faithfulness, even when the road ahead seems barren and lonely.

Saviour of the World! | John 4:3-42 | Shine Thomas | City Harvest AG Church
In John 4:3-42, Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well and offers her living water. Despite initial misunderstandings, she realizes he is the savior of the world. This encounter parallels Jesus' ministry to Nicodemus in Chapter 3, showing that both a respected Pharisee and a marginalized woman need Jesus as the Savior for eternal life. The woman's past and societal status do not hinder Jesus' offer of salvation, highlighting his love for all people regardless of race, gender, or background. This story emphasizes that no one is beyond the reach of Jesus' grace and love, making him the Savior of the world for all.

From Death to Life | John 4:46-5:47 | Shine Thomas | City Harvest AG Church
The passage describes two miraculous healings performed by Jesus that symbolize his power over physical and spiritual ailments. In John 4:46-54, a royal official begs Jesus to come and heal his dying son. Jesus tells him "Your son will live", and the official takes Jesus at his word. The son is miraculously healed at that very hour, leading the official and his whole household to believe in Jesus. The passage then transitions to another healing in John 5:1-6. Jesus encounters a man who had been an invalid for 38 years, lying by the pool of Bethesda. Jesus asks him a pointed question: "Do you want to get well?" This man represents not just physical sickness, but spiritual sickness and separation from God. The passage suggests that just as Jesus has the power to heal bodily ailments, he also has the power to heal our spiritual condition and restore our relationship with God. The key is whether we are willing to trust in Jesus and obey his commands, even when it requires courage and determination to change. The passage encourages the reader to give their life over to Christ, take the courage to change, and be determined to follow him, to experience true spiritual and physical wholeness.
