Talking with Drew Gasparini

Drew Gasparini is an award-winning  musical theatre composer/lyricist, a singer/songwriter, and a teacher. He is  equally committed to forging a new sound in the intersection between theatre and pop, to nurturing the next generation of artists, and to throwing one hell of a party.

Drew is currently developing a number of new stage musicals including the Broadway-bound musical adaptation of The Karate Kid for Gorgeous Entertainment (book by screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen), It’s Kind of a Funny Story for Universal Theatrical Group (book by Alex Brightman); Night Shift for Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures (book by screenwriters Babaloo Mandel & Lowell Ganz); and The Whipping Boy (book and co-lyrics by Brightman).  Other writing projects include the infamous, award-winning Super Bowl publicity stunt, Skittles Commercial: The Broadway Musical, starring Michael C. Hall (book by Will Eno, lyrics with Nathaniel Lawler, directed by Sarah Benson); We Aren’t Kids Anymore  (a song cycle); Everything in its Place: The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers, a one-man-show starring Marc Summers, and Make Me Bad (both with  scripts by Alex Brightman); Crazy, Just Like Me (2011 New York Musical Theatre Festival “Best of Fest”); Turn of the Screw and #UntitledPopMusical (both with Michael Kimmel); and songs for Hit List on the NBC television series SMASH, the children’s cooking program “Monica’s Mixing Bowl”, and Hot Mess in Manhattan (“The Text Message Song”).

Film vs. Theatre with Angela DiMarco

Angela DiMarco was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She was cast in her first feature film, Waiting for the Light (starring Shirley MacLaine and Teri Garr) when she was 10 years old. She attended Summit K-12 School of the Arts and then studied in Otterbein College’s BFA program. She then moved to Los Angeles, where she became a full time working and teaching artist. Since returning to the NW, she launched Mighty Tripod Productions and Mighty Tripod Acting Studio with her husband, David S. Hogan. They produce original work, teach classes, coach actors and have created an artistic platform in the NW. Angela continues to perform both on stage and screen.

One Year Later: Krystina Alabado

Today about one year later, I welcomed back my first real interview. Krystina Alabado!! A Phoenix native, Krystina has been performing since a very young age. At 18, she left home to travel the country with the 1st National Tour of 8 times Tony Award-Winning musical, "Spring Awakening". After 2 years on the road, she moved to NYC and now calls it home. Krystina made her Broadway debut in 2011 in the Green Day musical, "American Idiot" and has since been seen in the Original Broadway Cast of American Psycho, toured as the Mistress In Evita, starred in numerous Off-Broadway musicals including David Bowie's final work, "Lazarus", and is currently starring as Gretchen Wieners in Mean Girls on Broadway!

Hi everyone! In today's episode, I invited another guest to talk again, Cailen Fu! Cailen is an actor, singer and voiceover artist currently residing in New York. After graduating, she signed across-the-board with A3 Artists Agency and made her Broadway debut in Mean Girls as the standby for Regina George + Gretchen Wieners! In addition to Mean Girls, she has worked on numerous voiceover projects ranging from national Subway commercials to Animated Feature Films. Another passion of hers is helping to develop new musicals with the MT podcast, One Million Musicals. Cailen is an actor and the Director of Marketing for the podcast. They produce original musicals and educational MT series every month, featuring Broadway, TV and Film's biggest stars. During the pandemic, she has been a Masterclass and Vocal Coach for many aspiring young artists. In her downtime, you will most likely find her watering her plant babies or trying out a new biscuit recipe! I hope you enjoy it!

Talking with Jane Bruce

Jane is a graduate of University of Michigan where she earned her BFA in Musical Theatre before relocating to New York City. She released her first EP, It’s You, in November of 2017, featuring several quirky and offbeat songs that turned journal entries into acoustic and intimate expressions of love and loss. 

She recently made her Broadway debut in the Alanis Morissette musical “Jagged Little Pill”, after appearing in the World Premiere at American Repertory Theater. She’s also appeared in and contributed music for “Original Sound” (Cherry Lane, Drama Desk Nominee for Best Music in a Play), The Other Josh Cohen (Off-Broadway), The Ballad of Little Jo (Two River Theatre, Original Cast Recording), and The Theory of Relativity (Goodspeed Opera House).

Currently, Jane is finishing up her newest album My Bed, which she began writing during her time in Boston with Jagged Little Pill.

Jonah Platt is a great multi-platform creator and performer, working across many different aspects of the entertainment industry. 

Jonah continues to carve out his place on stages from Hollywood to Broadway, as well as on the silver screen. He’s most well known for his recent star turn as “Fiyero” in the Broadway blockbuster WICKED, in addition to his breakout performance as “Woof” in HAIR at the Hollywood Bowl.

On television, Jonah most recently appeared in NBC’s critically acclaimed JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE starring John Legend and the season 9 finale of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. Other favorites include PARENTHOOD, SING IT ON, and Jonah’s scene-stealing Frat Boy in the series finale of NBC’s beloved series THE OFFICE.

Talking with Rob Rokicki

Rob Rokicki is a composer/lyricist whose shows have been nominated for Drama Desk, Lortel, and Off-Broadway Alliance awards. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild, Actor's Equity, and an alum of the Tony Award-winning BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Writing workshop.

As a writer, Rob wrote the music and lyrics for the critically acclaimed Broadway musical THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL, for Theatreworks USA (book by Joe Tracz). The hourlong adaptation ran in 2015 and was nominated for a Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical before touring the country. The two-act adaptation played Off-Broadway in 2017 and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical before launching a six-month tour across North America. In the Winter of 2018, they played a successful run on Broadway!
