Braden Talks About
Salem, MA

Intro

We just got back from a two week, cross-country vacation. Braden was so excited about the trip because he had a few things on his bucket list he wanted to do. For the next few weeks, we’re going to talk about the different cities that we visited and the things you can do there.

In today’s episode we are going to talk about visiting Salem, MA. You might be familiar with the stories from the history of the Salem Witch Trials. When I was a teenager, I visited this city with my mom. We were able to attend a mock trial of one of the witch trials. Because of the pandemic, they weren’t doing them this year. So, instead of watching a witch trial, we walked around the area and saw a lot of things.

What things did you do?

* We started out at a bay area to eat our lunch at picnic tables. * We went on a crap walking tour, the only cool thing on that walking tour was a statue of Samantha from bewitched* We saw the witch house that is a house museum that was home to a witchcraft trials judge* We passed by the first church in Salem, which was founded in 1629.* We saw the ropes mansion, which had a walk-in garden.* We went to the Salem Witch Trials Memorial (a.k.a a cemetery)* We saw the Salem maritime, a replica boat* We passed the house of 7 gables* We went by the Salem witch museum

Eventually they go on a quest to save Hera before the winter solstice. Jason finds his long lost sister he never knew, Thalia. They try to find Areos, the wind god, and get him to help. They eventually get to where Hera is. They all have a big old fight there, soon they win and save Hera. They all head home in victory, Leo leads the whole camp to a bunker in a mountain. Braden Talks About
iRobot (The Movie)

Intro

If you didn’t know by now, we love Will Smith and tend to watch a lot of movies he puts out. We just wrapped up our movie series that he was in…Men In Black. Now, we are covering iRobot. Braden and I are going to share a few details about the movie and parts that we did and didn’t like.

What happened?

Far in the future, robots started doing jobs all around. Then detective Spooner goes to the robot headquarters to investigate a crime. He later figured out that a robot did it. The company’s boss (Alfred laning) made a robot that could disobey the 3 laws. And apparently, all of the new ns-5’s could too.

What were the 3 laws?

First Law

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

Second Law

A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

Third Law

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Do you think the laws work?

What did you like?

There was a lot I liked. But most of the fighting scenes I liked most.

What did you not like?

Nothing really

Did you like it overall?

Yes very much

Braden Talks About
Things to do on Spring Break in DFW

Intro

Over Spring Break, instead of going somewhere, I invited Braden’s grandparents to come out for a visit. We had the opportunity to do some fun things with them! In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about what we did around DFW. These are things you can do any year during Spring Break in the cities around Dallas, Texas.

What did you do over spring break?

Well, my granny and granddaddy came over. We also went to Swiss avenue, the cidercade, and the dino park.

What did you do at Swiss ave?

We just walked around the neighborhood, looking at the nice houses.

Did you know?

Swiss ave was a historic neighborhood founded in 1902.

What did you do at the dragon park?

We just went there and played. There was a giant dragon going around the whole park, (hence the name) you could also climb on the dragon’s head!

What did you do at the cidercade?

Mostly just play at the arcade bit.

Did you know?

The cidercade is actually a bar. After a certain time, they kick out anyone under the age of 20 because they bring out beer and wine.

Braden Talks About
Soil

Have you ever tried to plant flowers or vegetables in your yard, but couldn’t get it to grow? Maybe it is because of the type of soil you have in your yard. For example, when we lived in North Carolina, our yard was mostly made of sandy soil or 100% sand in some areas. In today’s episode, Braden and I are going to talk about the different types of soil that he learned about this week at school.

What is soil?

Soil is a mixture of humus, sediment, and dirt.

Humus is the organic parts of soil that come from decomposed animal remains.

Sediment is weathered rocks deposited at a certain area.

What are the different types of soil?

Sand, silt/topsoil, clay, and gravel

What is sand?

Sand is super small bits of sediment.

What is silt/topsoil?

Topsoil is a mixture of humus and dirt.

What is clay?

Clay is soil that’s particles stick together.

What is gravel?

Gravel is small rocks in big groups.

Fun facts:

* 1 Tablespoon of soil has more organisms in it than there are people on earth.* It takes close to a hundred years for an inch of topsoil to form
