What Nobody Tells You About Change - Beyond the Norm Podcast

What Nobody tells you about Change:

In this episode of Beyond the Norm, I dive into the truth about change, not as a single moment, but as a living, breathing process.

We’ll talk about the grief that comes with letting go of old identities, the awkward middle ground where everything feels uncertain, and the quiet resilience it takes to grow through transition.

I explore how change ripples through our families, teams, and communities and how our loyalty to old patterns can sometimes keep us stuck. This is a conversation about resourcing yourself, honouring your emotions, and learning to feel safe in the unfamiliar.

Because change isn’t a failure; it’s the system reorganising itself for your next evolution.

Takeaways

  • Change isn’t a one-off event : it’s a continuous cycle of becoming. ( Quelle Surprise Norma ;)

  • Your identity evolves with every shift.

  • Grieving your old self is part of healthy growth.

  • The messy middle is normal — and necessary.

  • Fear is not the enemy; it’s information.

  • Resourcing yourself is the ultimate act of self-care.

  • Your change impacts — and liberates — the system around you.

Beyond the Norm
Beyond the Norm: Bridging Belonging with Authenticity

In this episode, I explore the concepts of belonging and authenticity. I talk about how both are intangible yet essential parts of our lives.

Drawing from my own experiences, I reflect on how belonging has shaped my sense of self and the impact it has on my identity. I also dive into the importance of bridging the gap between belonging and authenticity, and how vital it is to find tribes or communities where we can truly be ourselves.

I highlight why prioritising authenticity is so important, and offer support for those of us on this journey towards self-discovery and belonging.

Keywords: belonging, authenticity, sense of self, tribes, communities, bridging, support

Takeaways:

  • Belonging and authenticity are crucial, though intangible, aspects of our lives.
  • Reflecting on our sense of belonging within systems like family, school, and work helps us understand how it has shaped who we are.
  • Authenticity is about staying true to ourselves rather than conforming to societal expectations.
  • Finding tribes or communities where we can be our authentic selves is essential for our well-being.
  • Bridging belonging and authenticity requires self-reflection, support, and creating spaces where we can show up as our true selves.

When Bravery Isn't Enough for Your Creative Change!

In this episode, I discuss the misconception that bravery alone drives creative change.

I emphasise that discomfort, not bravery, is actually the primary trigger for these shifts.

I delve into how fear can push us forward and stress the importance of rewriting our own rules and embracing networking.

Additionally, I highlight the role of coaching, the significance of attending to our endings, and the power of resourcing and manifesting our desires.

Throughout this podcast, I stress the importance of embracing vulnerability and not feeling pressured to meet all coaching expectations.

I share insights into the ups and downs of transitions and the necessity of self-compassion.

My personal experiences with attending to endings underscore how crucial this process is for progress. Finally, I discuss the empowering act of manifesting and creating the life we envision.

Keywords: bravery, creative change, discomfort, fear, rewriting rules, networking, coach, endings, resourcing, manifesting, vulnerability, transitions, self-compassion

Lessons in Love ♥️ & Gratitude 🙏🏻
In Jan 2024, for the 31 days I shared a daily video on YouTube. 31 days of gratitude. I started with great enthusiasm and naivety. I wanted to ensure I was starting my year strong and share that goodness with a small group. Like most Januarys I knew it would be grey and I would have to dig deep. What I did not forsee on the 1st was a breakup and heartache and go on to share that with everyone. Lots of shame and vulnerabilities to the fore but so many learnings throughout the month. This episode shares the many things I was grateful for and lessons from love ( self-love). I hope this episodes is useful to someone. This is my 33rd episode in 3 years of Beyond the Norm and delighted to celebrate it with this episode.
