Season 2 Episode 5: Smite
This episode of Sons of Anarchy is called “Smite” and it follows Clay vs. Zobelle and illustrates just how in over his head Clay is in the chess match. Zobelle has Otto jumped in prison (he loses an eye), he turns in evidence on the club blowing up Darby's meth lab in Charming, he blackmails Hale, sets up a street fight, and also blows up a van at TM, leaving us wondering if Chibs is still alive. All the while Clay stole some cigars... Oh, and Gemma broke Tara's nose! And both ladies start reading JT's old book.
In this episode we'll shine a headlight on Hale for the way he's finally chosen a side in this fight. We'll also give out some patches, fire some bullets, and plenty of other fun and games along the way!

Season 2 Episode 4: Eureka
This episode of Sons of Anarchy is called “Eureka” and it follows SAMCRO as they make their first gun run for the IRA under cover of a blood drive rally. Bobby's bike malfunctions, taking Tig out on the highway - who is then abducted by bounty hunters. Jax and Clay are at each others throats the whole episode about whether to help Tig or deliver the guns. All the while Gemma is back home dealing with intimidation tactics from Zobel.
In this episode we'll put a spotlight (headlight?) on Opie for the way his character is aligning with Clay against Jax (his best friend). We'll also play some other games and give out some superlatives as I bring this podcast back to the format that brought me joy in the beginning!

Clay and Gemma are unraveling which is driving Clay to make decisions out of anger and spite. Hes beating up her car, causing trouble at Cara Cara, and the wedge between him and Jax continues to be hammered in. All the while Zobel and his group of white nationalists are on offense, introducing drugs to charming in an attempt to drive SAMCRO out of town. Season 2 Episode 2: Small Tears
Tara Knowles from Sons of Anarchy seems to be a fairly polarizing character in the SOA fandom. She’s also pretty polarizing AS a character.
For the majority of season 1 and the start of season 2, she spends a lot of time questioning whether she has what it takes to be with Jax and be apart of the SAMCRO lifestyle.
In the second episode, Small Tears, I believe she proves that not only was she capable of living within that world - she could THRIVE in it. If only she had the chance to…

Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy is one of the most compelling characters in television history.
Over the course of the full seven seasons, he would grow into a fantastic anti-hero with depth and complexity. I believe I’ve discovered the episode where his character truly began to develop:

Season 2 Episode 1: Albification
In many ways, Jax Teller is born in the first episode of season 2 of Sons of Anarchy.
The thing you remember from this episode is obviously what happens to Gemma at the end. And it might overshadow how much foreshadowing of Jax’s character we get in this episode. How he makes decisions for those around him, the type of leader he’ll become and of course his friction with Clay. This is an early look at how the character of Jax will come to be!
There’s also a lot of drama surrounding Opie returning of apparently leaving his kids for weeks after the death of his wife Donna — we get into that and more!

Sons of Anarchy might be the greatest drama written for television and I nearly missed it!
I’m Zac and welcome to belated binge sons of anarchy!
Our beloved members of SAMCRO graced tv screens from 2008-2014 and I didn’t join the ride until 2018! 4 years after the series finale.
I was a few months removed from buying my first Harley Davidson of my own - I was scrolling Netflix for something new to watch and I stumbled across that iconic photo of a bareback Jax, scull on his back, gun in his wasteband and remembered that back in college people raved about this show. So I thought I’d give it a try.
From the first scene of the pilot - this show resonated so deep with me. This was my dream as a child played out on screen! 8 year old me wanted to be Jax Teller - he just hadn’t heard the name yet.
So when 28 year old me saw it, he was hooked!
Now I go back to it about once a year, not always from the beginning, not always all the way through. But always getting my fix at some point. Except last year… I waited. I saved it. For THIS podcast!
Now we’re going back to the beginning - every episode - reliving the chaotic ride of SOA!
I’ll dive into character choices and development, plot twists and conveniences, sprinkle in some nuggets from what I’ve learned in the real world about biker culture, and I’ll bring on some guests to join the discussion!

We get our first glimpse of Jax as a leader of SAMCRO in AK-51. Not so much by choice, but my necessity. When Clay is taken into ATF custody by Agent Stahl for being an accessory to a crime after one of the suspects placed a call to TM, Jax is thrown into the fire to find a way to:1. Find the people responsible to avoid the whole club getting arrested for selling the guns to people who used them to break out a prisoner, kill a cop and civilians.2. Find a way to get the current gun inventory out of the clubhouse before ATF comes to search the place. Along the way, we get some more behind the ATF agent that's stalking Tara, we get a little more behind the morality of SAMCRO, and we get a little more behind panties flushed down the toilet???
