And they approached the village where they were going,
and He acted as though He were going farther.
But they urged Him, saying,
“Stay with us, for it is getting toward evening,
and the day is now nearly over.”
So He went in to stay with them.
Now this was the custom in former times in Israel
concerning the redemption
and the exchange of land
to confirm any matter:
a man removed his sandal and gave it to another;
and this was the manner of attestation in Israel.
Now Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there,
and behold, the close relative of whom Boaz spoke was passing by, so he said,
“Turn aside, friend, sit down here.”
And he turned aside and sat down.
He took ten men of the elders of the city and said,
“Sit down here.”
So they sat down.
Then Naomi her mother-in-law said to her,
“My daughter, shall I not seek security for you,
that it may be well with you?
Now is not Boaz our kinsman, with whose maids you were?
Behold, he winnows barley at the threshing floor tonight.
Wash yourself therefore,
and anoint yourself
and put on your best clothes,
and go down to the threshing floor;
but do not make yourself known to the man
until he has finished eating and drinking.
It shall be when he lies down,
that you shall notice the place where he lies,
and you shall go and uncover his feetand lie down;
then he will tell you what you shall do.”
She said to her,
“All that you say I will do.”
Now it came about in the days when the judges governed,
that there was a famine in the land.
And a certain man of Bethlehem in Judah went to sojourn
in the land of Moab with his wife and his two sons.
Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD,
that the LORD spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying,
“Moses My servant is dead;
now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people,
to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.
Therefore, come now,
and I will send you to Pharaoh,
so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.”
But Moses said to God,
“Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh,
and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?”
And He said,
“Certainly I will be with you,
and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you:
when you have brought the people out of Egypt,
you shall worship God at this mountain.”
Then Moses said to God,
“Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them,
‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’
Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’
What shall I say to them?”
God said to Moses,
“ I AM WHO I AM”;
and He said,
“Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”
Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets,
He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named Emmaus,
which was about seven miles from Jerusalem.
And they were talking with each other
about all these things which had taken place.
After Jesus was born, His earthly parents were careful to obey the Laws of Leviticus 12.
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying:
‘When a woman gives birth and bears a male child,
then she shall be unclean for seven days,
as in the days of her menstruation she shall be unclean.
On the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
And he said to me,
“Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book,
for the time is near.
Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal,
coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the middle of its street.
On either side of the river was the tree of life,
bearing twelve kinds of fruit,
yielding its fruit every month;
and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and spoke with me, saying,
“Come here, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth;
for the first heaven and the first earth passed away,
and there is no longer any sea.
And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem,
coming down out of heaven from God,
made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.
Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven,
holding the key of the abyss
and a great chain in his hand.
And he laid hold of the dragon,
the serpent of old,
who is the devil and Satan,
and bound him for a thousand years;
and he threw him into the abyss,
and shut it and sealed it over him,
so that he would not deceive the nations any longer,
until the thousand years were completed;
after these things he must be released for a short time.
And I saw heaven opened,
and behold, a white horse,
and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True,
and in righteousness He judges
and wages war.
Revelation 19:1-2
After these things I heard something
like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God;
BECAUSE HIS JUDGMENTS ARE TRUE AND RIGHTEOUS;
for He has judged the great harlot
who was corrupting the earth with her immorality,
and HE HAS AVENGED THE BLOOD OF HIS BOND-SERVANTS ON HER.”
After these things I saw another angel coming down from heaven,
having great authority, and the earth was illumined with his glory.
And he cried out with a mighty voice, saying,
“ Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become a dwelling place of demons
and a prison of every unclean spirit,
and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird.
Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls
came and spoke with me, saying,
“Come here, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot
who sits on many waters,
with whom the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality,
and those who dwell on the earth were made drunk
with the wine of her immorality.”
Then the seventh angel poured out his bowl upon the air,
and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying,
“It is done.”
