We chat about how got into the world of commentary as a teenager, his first game being one of the most profile fixtures in the football calendar, and how work on radio and TV in Ireland led him to join the BBC in 2002. We discuss the differences between commentating on games on both those mediums, what a typical match day is like for him in terms of preparation, post-game interviews with managers, awkward moments, how things like VAR and the changing media landscape have impacted his work, advice for any aspiring commentators, and lots more.
