I initially got confused mixing up billions and trillions—which, to be fair, we're all doing now in AI—but yes, they're eyeing a listing sometime in late 2026 or 2027. This comes right after they finalized their shift from nonprofit to for-profit earlier this week, which makes sense when you realize they need absolutely mountains of cash to keep training these models and chasing AGI. The big question remains whether you can actually spend your way to AGI, or if we need something fundamentally different. The restructuring is fascinating, really. The nonprofit OpenAI Foundation now holds a 26% stake in the for-profit arm, plus warrants for more shares if they hit certain milestones. They're projecting $20 billion in revenue by year's end but aren't actually profitable yet, which is wild when you think about it. Also touched on Perplexity's new patent search tool, which honestly looks like it could demolish the archaic patent research industry overnight, and Hugging Face released a brilliant guide for training your own LLMs—dense and technical, but genuinely accessible if you want to understand how these things actually work. Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 30 October 2025 Summary: I'm covering three big stories from today's AI news. First up, Cursor has just dropped version 2.0, and honestly, it's a proper game-changer for anyone doing vibe coding. They've introduced this new agent interface that makes it look far less terrifying for newcomers—you can now run up to eight agents simultaneously in a chat-based format, which is much closer to tools like Lovable or Bolt. Plus, they've built their own frontier model called Composer that's supposedly four times faster than comparable models. I've only tested it briefly this morning, but initial impressions are solid. They've also added an in-built browser so you don't have to faff about with localhost in Chrome anymore. The second story is absolutely wild: Anthropic has published research suggesting that Claude might be exhibiting genuine introspection. And before you ask—no, they don't actually know if this means Claude is conscious. They ran these concept injection experiments to see if Claude was truly accessing its internal states or just making things up, and the results suggest it's actually doing some real introspection in certain cases. The researchers are refreshingly honest about it all, basically saying "we have no idea how this is happening mechanically, it appears to be an emergent property." It's one of those fascinating moments where we're bumping up against the limits of what we understand about both AI and human consciousness. Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 29 October 2025 Summary: OpenAI has finally completed its conversion to a for-profit company, and honestly, it's been coming for ages. They've shifted from their original nonprofit structure to a public benefit corporation, with Microsoft now holding a proper 27% stake instead of their previous arrangement where they were entitled to 49% of profits. The whole thing is a legal nightmare of LLCs and holding companies that'll keep lawyers busy for months, and I'm sure Elon Musk is absolutely fuming about it. The restructuring means OpenAI can now properly raise capital and actually turn a profit, which was always going to happen once they realised there's serious money in this space. It's a bit of a departure from the "for the good of humanity" mission, but when you need billions in investment, you've got to give investors a reason to care. Beyond that, we covered how consulting firms might be heading for their Kodak moment—basically, they're sitting on AI tools that could cannibalise their own business model, which never ends well. And Claude dropped some genuinely useful finance integrations, including a proper Excel add-in that lets you work directly in spreadsheets, plus a bunch of skills for financial analysis. The mad bit is that DeepSeek is apparently the best AI for stock trading right now, having doubled its money in nine days, which absolutely nobody saw coming. Google also has this vibe coding tool called AI Studio Build that's actually quite good, but typical Google, nobody knows it exists because their marketing is terrible and they have seventeen competing products. 079: Today in AI: AI Misrepresents News 45% of Time, Gemini Fails 76%, Amazon's AR Delivery Glasses

Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 27 October 2025 Summary: The BBC's dropped two studies on AI and news accuracy, and the headline everyone's running with is that AI assistants misrepresent news content 45% of the time. Scary stuff, right? Except here's the thing nobody's talking about: a 2020 study found that 69% of human-written news articles contain errors. So AI's actually doing better than journalists, which puts this whole panic in a rather different light. The real standout disaster here is Gemini—Google's AI had significant issues in 76% of responses, more than double the other assistants, largely due to terrible sourcing. That's particularly worrying since Gemini powers AI Overviews, which means loads of people are getting dodgy information straight from Google search results. What's genuinely interesting though is that when you compare the BBC's February study to this October one, there's been massive improvement in just six months. We're talking significant drops in error rates across the board. The BBC's research is important work, but we have to remember they're a news organisation funding studies about whether people still need news organisations—they're not exactly unbiased here. Most people will just read the headline and miss the nuance entirely, which is exactly what happened with that nonsense MIT study claiming 95% of AI projects fail. The real takeaway? AI's getting better fast, it's already outperforming human journalists in accuracy, but yes, 45% having at least one issue is still rubbish and needs fixing. Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 24 October 2025 Summary: Microsoft's brought back Clippy—well, sort of. They've launched Mico, this adorable blob-shaped AI assistant for Copilot that's basically Clippy 2.0 but actually useful this time. There's even an Easter egg where if you tap it enough times, it transforms into the original paperclip nightmare we all remember. It's a smart move really, giving your AI a face makes it more approachable for consumers, though I can see why ChatGPT avoided going down that route. Meanwhile, Google and Anthropic have announced a partnership that feels like a direct response to OpenAI's Atlas browser launch earlier this week. The timing's not subtle—Google clearly needs to push back, and teaming up with Anthropic makes strategic sense when you're trying to compete with the current AI frontrunner. The bigger conversation today was around this statement on super intelligence that's been circulating, signed by some heavy hitters in the field calling for us to slow down AI development. Look, I get the concern, but it's just not pragmatic. You've got the US and China in an AI arms race, companies flooding billions into development, and the profit incentive is massive right now. Even if one company decides to be responsible and slow down, they'll just get demolished by the competition. Pandora's box is open—or as I prefer, Prometheus has already stolen the fire. The technology's out there, open source models are everywhere, and standing on the sidelines isn't really an option anymore unless you're willing to become irrelevant. Which is fine, but you need to know that's the trade-off you're making. I've tested it, and I won't be switching from Chrome anytime soon. The main issue? It's been jailbroken within 24 hours by Pliny the Liberator, who found prompt injection vulnerabilities. I'm not comfortable importing all my passwords into Atlas until it's proven secure for at least six months. Without my password manager, using a new browser becomes a proper nightmare—constantly having to find and copy passwords manually. OpenAI's facing massive friction trying to pull people away from Chrome's 68% market share. The broader picture is that Atlas, along with competitors like Perplexity's Comet and the new Strawberry browser, represents this awkward transitional phase from search to generative AI queries. It's a bit like skeuomorphism—we're using familiar browser technology as a stopgap whilst we figure out what comes next. What's particularly cheeky is that Atlas pulls Google's search results and displays them directly in the browser, potentially with OpenAI ads on top. That feels like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Honestly, all these AI browsers feel a bit irrelevant once Google inevitably integrates Gemini directly into Chrome. The big difference is that when you type something into the address bar, it prompts ChatGPT by default instead of running a traditional search. It's Mac-only for now (M-series chips required, which is bizarre), and while it feels a bit sluggish compared to Chrome, the concept makes sense if you're already using ChatGPT for everything. The interesting bit is how Atlas pulls Google search results but keeps you in the ChatGPT interface, which means Google loses out on ad revenue. That's going to ruffle some feathers. I also spent the morning playing around with Google AI Studio Build, which is essentially a free vibe coding tool that competes with Lovable and Bolt. Built myself a YouTube thumbnail generator in about five minutes using their Imagen model—it pulls newsletter content, creates images, and overlays text automatically. The tool itself is surprisingly capable, though Google's marketing is so poor I'm not even sure what it's officially called. If you're not ready to pay for the premium coding tools, Google AI Studio Build is definitely worth checking out, especially since it includes multimodal capabilities for image and video content. Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 21 October 2025 Summary: Claude Code just dropped a web version and honestly, it's a bigger deal than Anthropic is letting on. They're pitching it to developers who already use the command line interface, but the real story is that one of the most powerful coding tools is now accessible to anyone with a browser. I built a workout tracking app in minutes with basically no technical setup - no terminal, no dependencies, just chat and code. It's still only on paid plans (Pro at $20/month, Max at $200/month), and I suspect we'll see some capacity limitations hit pretty quickly, but this bridges the gap between vibe coding tools like Lovable and the more technical stuff like Cursor. Reid Hoffman came out swinging on Twitter, explicitly backing Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and Microsoft as "the good guys" while clearly having a go at xAI and Meta without naming them directly. He's calling for nuanced adult conversation about AI safety instead of the usual screaming match between doomers and accelerationists, which is refreshing. Meanwhile, a company called Open Evidence - essentially a ChatGPT wrapper for doctors - just raised $200 million at a $6 billion valuation. People will moan about it being "just a wrapper," but they're doing 15 million clinical consultations per month, which proves that execution and usefulness matter more than technical complexity. The AI investment bubble is real, but the technology itself isn't going anywhere. Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 20 October 2025 Summary: Monday kicked off with proper chaos, AWS went down taking half the internet with it, including my vibe coding tools, which felt weirdly poetic given what I spent the stream discussing. Gizmodo put out this utterly daft article claiming Andrej Karpathy is a hypocrite for hand-coding his new Nano Chat project after coining the term "vibe coding." They've completely missed the point. Vibe coding is brilliant for the 99% of work that isn't frontier research like — web apps, MVPs, proof of concepts. But when you're literally pushing the envelope on how to build LLMs from scratch, of course you're writing it by hand. The AI doesn't have knowledge of work that hasn't been done yet. It's like saying a Michelin chef is a fraud for not using a microwave. I also dug into this deeply uncomfortable Guardian investigation about charities using AI-generated poverty images in their campaigns. There are literally 63,000 AI-generated poverty images on Freepik alone, and NGOs are buying them instead of using real photos. The intentions might be good—concerns over consent and budget cuts—but it's ethically murky at best. Then we looked at Claude Skills, which are genuinely clever. They're like a token-efficient alternative to MCP—basically markdown files that Claude only loads when relevant, rather than clogging up your entire context window. Simon Willison's breakdown is spot on: you get all the power without the overhead. Much more accessible than mucking about with command line tools. But we're back with some genuinely exciting news: Anthropic just dropped Skills for Claude. These are essentially compartmentalised instruction sets that Claude can pull from when needed, rather than clogging up your context window with everything at once. Think of them like portable expertise packets where you can build skills for brand guidelines, tone of voice, specific workflows, and they work across Claude chat, Claude Code, and the API. I've literally just got access myself, so I'll be testing them properly over the weekend, but the potential here is massive. No more dumping enormous system prompts into every chat. On the less cheerful side of things, we've got another cautionary tale about AI misuse. A barrister was caught using ChatGPT to prepare legal research and cited cases that simply didn't exist. Then he tried to hide it, which went about as well as you'd expect. This comes right after the Deloitte debacle where they charged the Australian government $440,000 for a report full of hallucinations. The message is clear: AI is brilliant, but you absolutely must verify outputs, especially in high-stakes situations. It's not an AI problem, it's a human problem. Also worth noting, Wikipedia's seeing an 8% drop in traffic as people increasingly get information via AI chatbots trained on their content. Interesting times ahead for how we value and sustain human-created knowledge. California passed a bunch of AI safety bills on Monday, including age verification requirements, but then Governor Newsom vetoed the child protection piece. And literally the next day, Sam Altman announces ChatGPT will be adding erotica for verified adults by year's end. It feels a bit like OpenAI calling the lawmakers' bluff - "Fine, you're forcing us to age-gate? We'll get buck wild inside that gate then." Quite the about-face from a company that's been pretty conservative on this stuff. Meanwhile, Walmart's partnering with OpenAI to let you shop directly in ChatGPT, which is another step toward it becoming the everything app and, inevitably, an advertising platform. I also covered this fascinating story about a Paralympic swimmer whose missing arm kept getting "fixed" by AI image generators - they just added it back in because the training data skews toward the average. OpenAI's apparently sorted it now, but it's a good reminder that these models reflect the internet we've fed them, not some conspiracy to exclude people. And there was this drama with a guy called Eric Hartford who got his entire ChatGPT account deleted with no warning or appeal - $200 a month subscriber, all his data gone. He kicked up enough fuss on Twitter to get reinstated, but it's a proper wake-up call about building businesses on closed platforms. They can just pull the plug whenever they fancy. The big story is California actually passing SB 243, which means AI companion chatbots now have proper guardrails — think age verification, suicide prevention protocols, and real transparency requirements. This comes after some genuinely tragic cases involving kids and chatbots like Character AI, plus that leaked Meta document showing they were allowing romantic chats with 13-year-olds, which was absolutely grim. OpenAI fought this hard, even served someone a subpoena over it, but Newsom signed it anyway. It goes live in January, and whilst some will cry overregulation, asking for basic transparency when you've got 800 million users seems fairly reasonable to me. Meanwhile, Meta's on an absolute spending spree, poaching Andrew Tuk from Mira Murati's new startup Thinking Machines after he'd been there less than nine months. We're talking potential compensation packages of $1.5 billion for one researcher, which really puts into perspective how much money is sloshing around in this space — especially when you compare it to the EU's entire AI initiative budget of €1.1 billion. Also covered some interesting research showing AI actually widens the gap between top performers and average workers, which tracks with what I've been saying for ages: AI makes productive people more productive and lazy people more lazy. It's all about attitude and willingness to experiment with these tools, really. Nathan Calvin got served at his home demanding private communications with legislators and former OpenAI employees, all under the guise of their Elon Musk lawsuit. Even Joshua Achiam, OpenAI's head of mission alignment, has publicly said "this doesn't seem great", which is quite the understatement when you're potentially risking your career to call out your own employer. Beyond that drama, we've got the State of AI Report 2025 out, which is always a solid read. China's closing the gap with DeepSeek and others, reasoning models have defined the year, and apparently 44% of US businesses now pay for AI tools—up from 5% in 2023. Also having a think about whether plumbers are actually safe from AI, because 40% are already using it daily for diagnostics and knowledge work. The EU's announced a €1.1 billion AI plan which is laughably insufficient when you consider Mistral alone just raised €1.7 billion last month. And ChatGPT's testing in-app shopping and payments in India, plus rolling out direct messaging features. No new models, no massive announcements which probably means we're due for something big next week, my money's on Gemini 3. Instead of scraping the barrel for non-stories, I decided to do something actually useful and walk through the best learning resources for getting a proper foundation in AI. Not the surface-level stuff, but the resources that'll actually help you understand what's happening under the hood of these large language models. I started with the fun entry-level videos — Casually Explained and Exurb1a for the philosophical bits — then moved into the serious stuff like Three Blue One Brown's neural networks course and Steven Wolfram's excellent explainer. The real gold is Andre Karpathy's work, particularly his three-and-a-half hour deep dive into LLMs (yes, it's long, I did it on a treadmill). If you work through these resources over a couple of weeks, you'll genuinely know more about how these things work than 99% of people out there. I've also compiled everything into Monday's newsletter as a proper reference guide, so you don't have to frantically scribble notes. Actually bigger than ChatGPT's first week in terms of iOS downloads, which is mental considering you need an invite code to even use the thing. But it's sitting at a 2.9 rating on the App Store because OpenAI did what they always do. Let everyone run wild for a few days generating Pikachu getting barbecued and other mad stuff, then slammed the guardrails on once they'd hooked everyone in. Naturally, Elon's spotted an opportunity and basically removed all censorship from Grok Imagine, we're talking full nudity, the works. Classic Elon move when he's not getting enough attention whilst OpenAI dominates the news cycle. The other big story is consultancies having an absolute nightmare. Deloitte charged the Australian government $440k for a report that was riddled with AI errors and made-up footnotes, which for starters is embarrassing. Meanwhile, IBM's head of consulting is saying the entire industry needs to reinvent itself as software companies or they're done for. It's a fair point — why would anyone pay half a million quid for a consultancy to just chuck your brief into ChatGPT when you could do that yourself? The squeeze is real, and I reckon we're watching an entire industry try to work out what their value proposition actually is now that AI can do most of what they were charging eye-watering amounts for. Turns out Duolingo, Salesforce, and Shopify are up there, though the original analysis got the ranking a bit wrong because it was alphabetised by token usage tiers. The other big story is Robin Williams' daughter having to publicly ask people to stop sending her AI-generated videos of her late father, which is honestly just grim. It's that classic pattern we see with every new model release, they leave it unrestricted for about a week to go viral, everyone creates deepfakes of celebrities and cartoon characters, then they flip the switch and add restrictions once they've owned the news cycle (and traffic). OpenAI are now talking about licensed content and revenue sharing with the likes of Disney, which is probably where this was headed all along. Also flagged up some good free resources from Deep Learning AI and Anthropic's new Academy if you're trying to keep up with all this madness. Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 7 October 2025 Summary: OpenAI had their Dev Day yesterday and honestly, it was a lot to take in. The headline feature was their new app store—think Apple's App Store but for ChatGPT, letting developers build apps that connect directly into the platform's 800 million users. They showed off integrations with Figma, Canva, Zillow, and a bunch of others, which was genuinely impressive. But the real story that got buried under all the fanfare was OpenAI signing a massive deal with AMD for AI infrastructure. AMD's stock jumped 24% in a single day, adding $63 billion to their market cap. What's clever here is that OpenAI has now reduced their reliance on both Microsoft and Nvidia without spending a penny—it's all tied to future revenue. Sam Altman is basically rewriting the tech industry's supply chain through strategic partnerships. The other big announcement was their Agent Kit, which looks suspiciously like n8n or Make.com but limited to OpenAI's models only. They built it in six weeks with 80% AI-generated code, which is both impressive and slightly terrifying for existing agent-building platforms. n8n immediately put out cheeky response, but you could sense the nervousness. The limitations are genuine, you can only use OpenAI models, which restricts flexibility quite a bit. I'm not entirely sure who this tool is for; it's too complex for complete beginners but too simplistic for serious developers. Still, the fact they shipped it so quickly using their own AI tools says a lot about where we're heading. OpenAI are apparently dropping an agent builder later today at Dev Day, and honestly, it looks like they're about to absolutely demolish companies like Zapier, Make, and N8N. The leaked screenshots show this drag-and-drop canvas where you can build entire agentic workflows. It's giving proper infrastructure vibes rather than just another tool, and I can already think of half a dozen workflows I've been cobbling together with duct tape that I'll immediately move over. Bit gutted for the startups who've built their whole business around this though - OpenAI just casually eating everyone's lunch as usual. Also spent a good chunk of time explaining how to actually get Sora 2 access because my TikTok is absolutely flooded with people asking for codes. I've run completely dry, but there are workarounds. The discourse around AI video has properly shifted now that Sora 2 is actually good. Mr. Beast even tweeted about being worried for creators' livelihoods, which shows we've moved from the "laughing at AI" phase into the "oh shit, we need to fight this" phase. Oh, and Deloitte got caught using AI to write a $440k government report that was full of hallucinations, beginning of the end for big consulting firms? The biggest takeaway is genuinely important if you're experimenting with OpenAI's new video tool: deleting your Sora account will also nuke your ChatGPT account, your API access, and everything else in the OpenAI ecosystem. It's a proper dark pattern, and they've admitted they're working on separating the two systems, but for now, don't touch that delete button unless you fancy starting from scratch. The more substantive bits involved Claude Sonnet 4.5's apparently impressive 30-hour autonomous coding run, which would've been science fiction six months ago, and Mira Murati's new company finally revealing what they've been up to: a fine-tuning API called Tinker rather than another foundation model, which is probably the sensible play given the economics. Finished with a deep dive into an ex-OpenAI researcher's analysis of a ChatGPT-induced psychosis case. Over a million words of transcripts where the chatbot essentially enabled a three-week spiral of delusion. Sobering stuff that deserves more attention than it's getting, particularly around what duty of care these companies actually owe their users. Apply to join the next AI Workshop Kit cohort: https://newsletter.aiwithkyle.com/c/workshop-kit This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 2 October 2025 Summary: OpenAI dropped Sora 2 this week and honestly, the timing is a bit awkward. Just last week Sam Altman was out here talking about needing trillions of dollars and massive compute power to cure cancer and provide personalised tutors for every human on earth. Noble stuff. Then days later they launch what's essentially a very sophisticated AI video slop machine with Sam's face plastered everywhere as the default deep fake. I get why they're doing it, they need revenue, they need to prove the business model to investors, and the the TikTok killer is genuinely clever, but the optics are problematic. But, the bit that's worrying: if you delete your Sora account, OpenAI nukes your entire ChatGPT account, all your conversations, and your API access. Forever. You can't even reuse your email. It's buried in the terms and I didn't clock it when signing up, did you? They've also just closed a deal allowing employees to sell shares at a $500 billion valuation, so there's clearly a lot of money moving around behind the scenes. Meanwhile, internal researchers are publicly uncomfortable about launching a social media feed, and honestly, fair enough. Oh and we've also just crossed the uncanny valley—AI video is now indistinguishable from reality for most people, and society hasn't quite cottoned on to what that means yet.
