We lost a legend this past weekend. One of the most profitable and prolific artists to ever touch the music scene, DMX, left us. Though we spoke about him last week we had to pay our respects in full as we seek to recount and remember what the icon meant to us. This past weekend we hosted another 2 Black Nerds Movie Night as we watched the film 'THUNDER FORCE' on Netflix. Also as another week has gone by another episode of 'FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER' has come out, and this time the Dora Milaje have some things to say as well. We also have some news to break about upcoming films and we also had to discuss a huge event that happened this past weekend, 'WRESTLEMANIA 37'
Cap is that you??? Hell naw it ain't. The 2nd episode of 'FALON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER' is here and boy do we have some things to unpack. Amazon Prime has been killing it lately and they just added another amazing show to the ranks 'INVINCIBLE', an animated series based off the comic book of the same name. Also Jordan was able to hit the theater again this past weekend, catching the film 'NOBODY' an action packed movie starring the Saul himself Bob Odenkirk . This past weekend James Gunn finally released the trailer to his rendition of 'THE SUICIDE SQUAD' and boy was it a fun trailer. Among all these things there's of course some news to get to featuring Issa Rae, the DCEU, and some news dealing with anime. Hope you enjoy.
Yerrrr!!! This is part 2 of a very special double header of the podcast. The boys from Evenflow Coffee (3:13), Jarrell (@JarrllEvenflow) and Kevin (@TheKevinTheory) join us again, back to back, but this time we'll be discussing 'ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE' (16:08) and the state of future of DC films (1:55:10). Man we appreciate these guys so much for joining us again on the show, please don't hesitate to follow them on social media and support the business at https://evenflowworldwide.shop/
What a week!!!! There's so much for us to talk about. From the 93rd Academy Awards (2:38) taking place and the shenanigans they brought to the table, to the finale of the show we've been covering every week, 'FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER' (1:08:41), there was a lot going on. Not to mention the somewhat anticipated movie adaption of the popular video game 'MORTAL KOMBAT‘ (46:57), and the now highest grossing anime movie of all time 'DEMON SLAYER: MUGEN TRAIN' (1:00:17). Both hit theaters and are doing great. We also discuss the passing of Shock G (2:40:18), the legendary rapper and the mastermind of Digital Underground who brought us 'The Humpty Dance' and the career of Tupac.
'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' has concluded so we've compiled all of our previous reviews of every episode from the series. On the March 22nd pod, we kicked things off by recapping the series premiere, 'New World Order', which catches us up with Sam Wilson after he forfeits the mantle of Captain America given to him by Steve Rogers (2:14). In 'The Star-Spangled Man', we're properly introduced to John Walker as the new Captain America, and learn about Isaiah Bradley, a veteran super soldier who fought the Winter Soldier in the Korean War (44:51). Then, we discuss the return of characters like Baron Zemo and Sharon Carter as the team travels to the criminal sanctuary city, Madripoor, in 'Power Broker' (1:25:24). 'The Whole World Is Watching' puts Sam, Bucky, and others on a dangerous collision course with the Flash Smashers and members of Wakanda's Dora Milaje, causing us to analyze every character's personal motivation (1:52:10). The penultimate episode, 'Truth', unpacks Isaiah Bradley's dark history as a super soldier, leading us to a discussion about the treatment and erasure of Black soldiers in America, and Sam's journey toward taking up the mantle (2:37:02). After the events of episode 5, we break down the chaotic finale, 'One World, One People', and the momentous moment of Sam Wilson officially becoming Captain America (3:38:00). Finally, we look back and share our thoughts on the series as a whole, and what the future may hold for its characters (4:26:10).
This week we talk about one of the newest films to hit Amazon Prime Video 'Without Remorse'(3:03), a Tom Clancy story starring Michael B Jordan, as well as the new animated movie to hit the block from Netflix 'The Mitchells vs The Machines' (14:27). We also discuss the Academy Award nominee and winner for Best Actor 'The Father'(24:44), and give credit where it's due to Anthony Hopkins' performance. There's also some tv shows to talk about this week. We got a chance to check out Netflix's animated series about the black samurai 'Yasuke'(35:40) and of course the season finale of the superhero show that shakes the table 'Invincible'(47:01). As usual there's all kind of news for the week (1:07:22) from Marvel, DC, black women killing the game as per usual, and more!
