Critical Zones. Horizonte einer neuen Erdpolitik | Künstler Interview

Im Foyer der EnBW in der Durlacher Allee startet parallel zur Ausstellung »Critical Zones. Horizonte einer neuen Erdpolitik« des Zentrums für Kunst und Medien Karlsruhe (ZKM) die Installation »Eau de Karlsruhe - Cyprès« des französischen Künstlers und Wissenschaftlers Fabien Léaustic (*1985). Das imposante Exponat besteht aus elektrischen Lampen und echten Zypressen und »wächst« als lebendes Ökosystem über zwei Stockwerke im Foyer des EnBW-Konzernsitzes. Natur in Form der lebenden Zypressen und Technik in Form von elektrischem Licht gehen dabei eine Verbindung ein. Der Künstler demonstriert mit seinem »Ökosystem« das symbiotische Verhältnis zwischen natürlichen und künstlichen Elementen. Denn so wie die Zypressen in dieser Installation ohne künstliches Licht nicht wachsen können, sind auch Mensch, Kultur und Natur aufeinander bezogen. »Eau de Karlsruhe« ist Teil der ZKM-Ausstellung »Critical Zones«, die sich mit der kritischen Lage der Erde auf vielfältige Weise befasst und neue Formen des Zusammenlebens erkundet.
