"It is 1928, and the Olympics are in Amsterdam. It is the first time a cauldron is lit in the opening ceremony. But we’re focusing now on a first that’s much more important to the Philippines. Competing practically as an offshoot of the Americas, then called the 'The Philippine islands', is no-name athlete, He is about to change the face of modern swimming forever." This is the story of the Ilocano Shark, the Philippines's first ever Olympic Winner, a fighter in the second world war and the pioneer of the modern breaststroke. His name is Teofilo Ydelfonso.
