From Greek mythology to modern musing, Eros has filled imaginations, passionate affairs, and the mysterious experience of life. In the High Middle Ages, it inspired troubadours who in turn inspired courtly love and epic romances in literature.  This codified, chivalric way of being in relationship started in 11th century France and spread throughout Western Europe over several centuries.
