Understanding How We REACT in a Time of Crisis
I read an article recently about how and why we overreact. It was penned by Dr. Art Frenz, a wonderful clinical psychologist who practices in upstate New York. Dr. Frenz specializes in stress management, psychological fitness, self-calming skill and dealing with loss and grief. As I have seen dozens upon dozens of reports of toilet paper to bleach, frozen pizzas to mushrooms, flying off the grocery store shelves, I wondered how you can tell if we are overreacting, reacting or underreacting. What is the difference? What pushes us to either extreme and what tools do we need to fully understand how we react to this current global crisis. In this episode, Dr. Frenz and I speak about:The three parts of reacting: feelings, thinking and behaviour What happens when our reaction time is shortened Why our feelings should never be ignored Why our feelings are never wrong how to self-soothe ourselves at this time Dr. Frenz also spoke about the Serenity prayer and the wisdom we can all pull from it. I have it here below for you: God, grant me the serenity accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. To learn more about Dr. Frenz, visit his website at www.artfrenzphd.com.  Wishing you love, light and serenity. - Marla To join Marla's Wellness Insiders' email group, you can follow the link here.  See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
