This movie is based on the book of the same name by Joanne Harris, published in 1999, which is part of a series of five books. (Another Johnny Depp movie about chocolate that is also based on a book?!!) In the movie, a woman and her young daughter move to a small town in France that is filled with religious, intolerant people.
