On today’s episode, we want to dedicate it to Imam Hussein (as) and his 1300 year legacy of inspiration that continues to move and inspires millions today; so much so that millions of travellers from all around the world, flock every year to Iraq, to visit the holy site in quest of spiritual growth. The story that is shared is one that resonates with people worldwide, igniting a spark of hope for truth, justice, and compassion.

Today marks the eve of the 10th of Muhurram, and in this dedication, we further explore the remarkable input of historical figures such as Desmond Tutu, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, Albert Einstein, Giuseppe Garibaldi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Leo Tolstoy, Al Mutanabbi, Victor Hugo, Helen Keller and many more, on their shared praise to Imam Hussein (as).

Imam Hussein's story is deeply intertwined with the Battle of Karbala, an event that unfolded over 1300 years ago and holds immense importance and relevant to modern world today. Through the lens of contemporary society, we unveil why Karbala's commemoration still captivates millions today. The principles of truth, justice, and resilience embodied by Imam Hussein resonate deeply with people facing various forms of adversity in today's world.

Karbala's message unites people from diverse backgrounds, transcending religious boundaries, and fostering a sense of solidarity and compassion. From gatherings to storytelling, we witness how the legacy of Karbala is kept alive and passed down through generations, preserving a rich cultural heritage that inspires and uplifts spirits.

Imam Hussein's story serves as a source of solace and comfort for those facing hardship, reinforcing the belief that perseverance in the face of trials can ignite hope and change in the world.

The enduring commemoration of Karbala is not just a ritual but a time for introspection and spiritual renewal, as the collective delve into practices during this period, such as wearing black, abstaining from worldly pleasures, and engaging in ‏تفكر وتدبر ‘tafakkur w taddabur’ – a form of meditation and contemplation of the world around us.
